Uhlová, Veronika ; Kubů, Eduard (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee)
Klíčová slova (anglicky): Worker colony, Malvazinky, Smíchov, construction, cooperatives Abstract (in English): The bachelor thesis deals with the formation and shaping of the Prague working-class quarter in Malvazinky in the first half of the 20th century. Its main aim is to present the construction of family houses that were created as a result of the housing shortage in Prague. The main builders were building and housing cooperatives and also the Prague municipality. It was mainly an attempt to build cheap but quality housing for a wider segment of the population. The thesis is devoted to a description of the site, an introduction to the building and housing co- operatives and their building activities, and a characterisation of the Prague workforce, which was increasing in number. It uses maps and plans showing the site and plans of the proposed houses to give a complete picture. There was an emergency colony on the site earmarked for development, to which the thesis devotes a chapter. A number of colonists agreed to form their own cooperative, which is also discussed in the thesis. The result of the thesis is a comprehensive presentation of the area of Prague Malvazinky and a comprehensive view of its development in the 1920s.

The dissertation further focuses on several key aspects: 1. Structure and Organization of Economic Assistance: It provides a comprehensive examination of the intricate structure and organization of economic assistance programs. 2. Financial Aspects of Programs: The research investigates the financial aspects of these initiatives, including budgetary allocations, funding sources, and resource distribution for reconstruction projects. 3. The Refugee Question: A significant portion of the work is dedicated to addressing the refugee issue, exploring how humanitarian aid aimed to mitigate the challenges associated with displaced populations. 4. The private agricultural sector during communism in Czechoslovakia
Benda, Daniel ; Jančík, Drahomír (advisor) ; Jakubec, Ivan (referee)
This bachelor's thesis is prepared as an overview of the functioning of the private agricultural sector in Czechoslovakia during the period of communism (1948-1989). In addition to the more generally known facts about the course of collectivization in the 1950s, it brings completely new and previously unpublished information about the lives of private farmers after the end of the collectivization process after 1960. However, it avoids the specifics of the Slovak region, and instead focuses territorially on South Bohemia. Structurally, the work is divided into two larger parts. In the first, it deals with the issue chronologically, and in the second, it discusses individual topics from the professional and private life of private farmers in more detail. It answers the questions of how the private agricultural sector under communism before and after 1960 functioned economically, how it managed to resist collectivization and how its actors fared in private. In the conclusion, above all, it disproves the assumption of the existing historiography about private farmers after 1960 as insignificant islands pushed to the margins of society suffering from constant persecution and living in permanent poverty. It shows that the situation was different and more complicated in many ways and most of all depended...
The Order of Malta and its activity in the Czech lands during the years 1874-1938
Pola, Martin ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Županič, Jan (referee) ; Sklenář, Michal (referee)
(in English): The Knights of St. John, also known as the "Johanniter", the Knights Hospitaller or the Knights of Malta, are undoubtedly the most important chivalric order of Christendom, which played an important role in the history of Europe. The Order came to the Czech lands in the 12th century and has been continuously active here ever since, although its activities in Czechoslovakia were almost completely suppressed between 1948 and 1990 and the Grand Priory survived only thanks to its members in exile. The present dissertation describes the activities of this Order in the Czech lands between 1874 and 1938. It focuses on the organizational and social aspects of the Order's activity as well as on its economic side. Nor does the priestly branch of the Order stand aside from the interest of this dissertation. The defined period was a time of revolutionary changes - until 1918 the Order could enjoy the support of the Austro-Hungarian elites, including the Emperor, however after the collapse of the monarchy it had to find its place in the new civil society and even fight for its existence. The Order did not see the successful culmination of these efforts in the Czech lands until the late 1930s, but in the light of the coming historical events, these achievements had only a very short life.

Changes in Jablonec Glass and Jewellery Export in the first half of the 20th Century PhDr. Petr Nový Abstract In the first half of the 20th century, due to political upheavals, dependence on foreign markets and the nature of the assortment, Jablonec goods (jewellery made of glass, metal or plastic and small glass products) went through the most dynamic phase in its history. At the same time, it was a very profitable field, which in its time had no competition in the world in terms of the variety of the offer, and brought considerable foreign exchange profits to the state. The dissertation is divided into two main parts. The first deals with general and specific questions connected with the export of Jablonec goods in a defined period. It traces both the general historical development of the field and the interaction between production and export, including the types of actors' reactions to turning points. It also contains contemporaneous testimonies of exporters who, in the defined period, were engaged in foreign trade with Jablonec goods. The second part of the dissertation is devoted to exporters as a specific group of entrepreneurs with a fundamental influence on the development of the entire field. It brings their collective biography, which also includes a typology. Attention is paid not only to the...
A. Schram family company over time and several generations (1868-1945)
Jandek, Prokop ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Štolleová, Barbora (referee)
(in English): The intent of this paper is to analyze the history of the family firm A. Schram, from her founding in the year 1868 till 1938. The focus point for her activity was chemical industry, primarily the sale of explosives and the manufacturing of superphosphate, the most widely used phosphatic fertilizer at that time. On one hand the Schram family is examined, or rather multiple of her generations, on the other hand the firm is put into the context of her shifting position on the market with superphosphate. The aim was to also allow the comparison of the company with her peers in long-term horizon. This is achieved by correlating different business strategies and through the collection comparable quantifiable data. Another goal of the paper was the confrontation of conclusions taken from jubilee brochures about the success of the company with primary documents. The effect of processes typical for family firms has also become the object of interest. This includes the intent of developing business relation through marital policy that would allow gaining some form of competitive advantage, for example. Further analysis is dedicated to the topic of generational transitions, that often led to ownership fragmentation and therefore it lowered the ability of said firm to adopt business decisions.

Diplomová práce vychází nejvíce z již existujících obdobných studí a dále zejména z dobového tisku, materiálů z jednání parlamentu, nejvíce pak stenoprotokolů a v neposlední řadě z celé řady archivních materiálů, nejvíce pak z materiálů Archivu Národního muzea.
