Regionální diferenciace populačního vývoje v Moravskoslezském kraji: historickogeografická analýza

The Master's Thesis deals with an analysis of regional differentiation in micro-regions of Moravian-Silesian Region. However, the analysis focuses on period of industrialization, periods before and after industrialization are also included. Development of population has been under the influence of several factors such as railway transport and both hierarchical and administrative position. A brief comparison with other regions of the Czech Republic is also embraced. The main focus is on the analysis on the level of micro-regions of individual municipalities. Historical development determined creation of special relationship between Core and Periphery. The part of the Thesis is devoted to a synthesis which divides micro-regions into categories according to the developing tendencies. Succinct comment is dedicated to the analysis of developing trends, key determinants and prediction of further population development. The hypothesis are held in the Introduction and confirmed or disproved in the Conclusion.
Development of municipalities and rural areas in the context of EU funds

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the problem of structural funds in the EU from the point of view of development in municipalities and rural areas. The thesis looks into European Regional Development Fund and European Agricultural Fund For Rural Development and it follows up with operational programs (Rural development IROP, INTERREG), which are from these funds financed the most, and also concerning its priorities. There is also mentioned current socio-economic situation of municipalities in Moravian-Silesian region. The second part of this thesis is focused on possibilities of development of selected municipality in the border area. It evaluates its current situation from the perspective of using EU funds. In the end it was elaborated a case study focusing on the development of tourism in the village and in its surroundings, which would correspond to the strategic development of the municipality and at the same time it gives a method for drawing up the project plan that could be used in the future.
The air quality in the Moravian-Silesian region from the legal point of view.

The aim of this work is to provide basic insight into the long-term unfavourable environment of the Moravian-Silesian region and to outline the possible human rights issues in solving this problem. The initial chapter presents the topic of work and its further systematics. The following chapter deals with the historical development from a general point of view and with special regard to the Moravian-Silesian Region. The third chapter contains an overview of the selected pollutants with a description of their impacts on human health and also focuses on the conclusions of the research project The Czech Academy of Sciences - Ostrava Program. The following, fourth chapter, briefly describes the current legislation on air protection in the Czech Republic, along with its basic concepts. The fifth chapter is dedicated to the individual legal instruments of air protection in the Czech Republic. The sixth chapter deals with the issue of court rulings on the issue in domestic courts and the subsequent part concerns the current and future potential development of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights. At the end of the thesis the prior text is summarized and evaluated.
Economic Analysis of Organizing Ice Hockey World Championship 2015 in Ostrava and Prague

In many cases the organization of major sport events brings various benefits to hosting economies, especially those resulting from encouraged tourism. However, these events carry extensive costs coming mostly from public resources which could be used for other purposes, e.g. healthcare. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the socioeconomic impact of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2015 on Prague and the Moravian-Silesian Region using a Cost-Benefit Analysis in which costs and benefits are summed up and benefit-cost ratio calculated. In our analysis we conclude that the event was beneficial not only for the Czech Ice Hockey Association; the hosting organization reporting profit of 450 million CZK before taxes but also for the regions with a benefit-cost ratio of 5.53, meaning that the benefit created equals 5.53 times the amount the regions invested into the event. Moreover, in this analysis we confirm an overall positive effect of the championship on tourism. Publishing activities in libraries

Thesis focuses on the state, the possibilities and the perspectives of publishing activities in libraries, such as publishing books and journals. Does this activity have a perspective; does it burden or enrich the libraries? Does the establisher consider publishing to be a topical issue? Do libraries support the creativity of the community they serve, by publishing for example regional or beginning authors? Do libraries focus more on special topics from the librarianship field and do they collaborate with the public administration? The topic is adapted to general level of contemporary trends. Specifically the comparative analysis between publishing in Moravian-Silesian region in the Czech Republic and Silesian region in Poland was prepared. The part devoted to trends and future of publishing in libraries is compiled from structured interviews.
Relation of People from the Tesinsko and Karvinsko Region toward the Polish and German Occupation

The bachelor thesis "The Relation of People from the Tesinsko Region Towards the Polish and German Occupation" is focusing on attitude of inhabitants of Czech (former Czechoslovakian) part of the Tesinko between the years 1938 and 1940. In the time period mentioned, the regime has changed twice in the region. The necessary section of such a work/study is also a study/elaboration of impacts and manifestations of the new regimes on the inhabitants. Before the core of the thesis itself, information of social and political history of region are mentioned. Testimonies of five contemporary witnesses represent the sources of the main topic. Moreover, there are the views of literature and archival sources included. The outcome of the thesis may therefore provide a material for comparison of rather local-based testimonies with broad, easier-accessed literature and archival-like materials
Creative Industries in the Old Industrial Region

Creative industries are considered as a new oportunity and a tool of economical and social growth in developed countries, because they represent a "new" source of wealth and prosperity. Creative economy is not based any more on traditional manufacturing industry and that is why are these now in the interest forefront of experts and executives. In the frame of the city and region development are creative industries seen as a new competitive advantage and they play role in innovative process and competitiveness of firms, towns or regions. Research section of my thesis is focused on old industrial regions, exactely on comparative analysis of Ústecký and Moravian-Silesian region. Emphasis is put on a spatial organization of creative industries and on their further characteristics, reviewed by different indicators. Concerning the town Ústí nad Labem, my thesis is focused on advertising industry, which has been considered as a new dynamic industry since 1989.
Transport accessibility as a factor of the level of unenployment in the administrative districts of municipalities with extended powers of the Moravian-Silesian Region

The presented work deals with analysis of relationship of transport accessibility and the level of unemployment in the Moravian-Silesian Region or how different level of unemployment in the various administrative districts of the region, depending on their time accessibility to the regional capital and the capital city of Prague as the most important economic, political and cultural center of the Czech Republic. The quality of transport infrastructure directly influences level of economic development of the region, one of the consequences of underdeveloped transport infrastructure, or limited availability of transport may be unemployment. The work is based on different characteristics of the sub-regional units Moravian-Silesian Region using methods of regression analysis to demonstrate the extent to which affects the accessibility level of unemployment in the area.
Development in the labor market of Moravian-Silesian Region

Bachelor thesis in the theoretical part describes the basic concepts encountered in the labor market. Furthermore, different types of unemployment together with a detailed explanation are named. The main characteristics of the labor market are also described. The theory is shown in reality in the practical part of the thesis. The development of the labor market in the Moravian-Silesian region, its characteristics and active policy of employment is also shown there. The problem of unemployment in this region is shown and explained in more detail in this part also. Vrbno pod Pradědem is used as an illustrative example. City, which is currently also struggling with high unemployment rates. In conclusion, the practical section proposes some solutions to this problem, such as development of tourism, extending Czech - Polish cooperation or the use of grants provided by the Czech Republic and the European Union.
