The image of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Grand Duchy of Moscow in Early modern news service of Czech nobility (1450-1618)
PRAŽÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
The thesis concentrates on the image of Mid Eastern European countries which was presented in the first newspapers. The focus was laid on handwritten newspapers (form of newssheets) that originated in the middle of the 15th century. Soon they became an influential intelligence and communicative medium. They were read on the courts of monarchs and high nobility. Since the middle of the 16th century they were also subscribed by town councils and church institutions like convents or bishoprics. The news spread further to other social groups by means of correspondence and rumor. The decline of handwritten newssheets did not begin until the second half of the 17th century. Handwritten and printed news service coexisted until then. While printed newspapers and pamphlets mainly described and commented on extraordinary stories, handwritten newssheets regularly brought reports about the events that happened in the last weeks. The author made thorough research of three collections of handwritten newssheets gathered by members of high nobility. Another common sign is the concentration of newssheets in the second half of the 16th century. They are the collections of Lords of Rosenberg, of Hradec and Lobkowicz. Especially after the House of Rosenberg more then 1 000 newssheets and other news service materials have been preserved whereas many of them are really unique. While exploring these documents, the author posed a question about which of the events that happened in the Kingdom of Poland, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania or in the Grand Duchy of Moscow drew the attention of the intelligencer. The author examined the spirit of this news and the information about the rulers, aristocrats, townspeople as well as common people from the eastern Europe they offered to the readers. Under the influence of the methodological directions inquiring into the perceiving of otherness by meeting different cultures she described the changes in viewing the Eastern European countries from the end of the 15th to the beginning of the 17th century. Thus she traced the origin of some stereotypical opinions that persisted through centuries. In addition, she dealt with the question how the subscribers of the newspapers reacted to the submitted reports. The aim of the thesis was the description of the image of the Kingdom of Poland, Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Grand Duchy of Moscow as well as an insight in the reception and interpretation of news on the aristocratic court in the early modern period.

The relationship between the Catholic church and the National socialism in Germany on the eve of World War II The diploma work focuses on the events in the German Empire in the period from Adolf Hitler's takeover of power in 1933 until the outbreak of world war II. The aim of my work is to depict the relationship between the Catholic church and the National socialist government in Germany. The work brings out the key moments of the national socialist program and the substantial statements of its representatives which refer to religion and the Church. And at the same time very severe condemnation of the Church. After takeover of power in 1933 the National socialists made the Imperial concordat. In the years that followed the Concordat was systematically being broken, the Church pursued and its activities consistently destroyed. The work outlines the gradual liquidation of the political Catholicism, the Centre and Bavarian folk parties, liquidation of the professional and youth associations and the Hitlerjugend step-up. It follows the effort to discredit the Church with preachy means which were pursued against it. On the background of these repressions the work deals with the development of the attitudes and official statements of the German bishops. Ranging from the condemnation before the year 1933 through...

Haviar, Jakub ; Rákosník, Jakub (referee) ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor)
The relationship and cooperation between the Czechs and Germans were essential for the development of the territory Also we can conclude, the situation is the same regarding the future, although the level may shift. Till the date this relationship is affected by the traumatic break up during the world war two. This event disrupted cooperation and contact of both nations for decades. In its consequences the Germans were expatriated, nonetheless Czechoslovakia was stabilized both politically and socioeconomically. Even nowadays there are debates among Czech and German historians, politicians and the community concerning the development after 1945. Was it expatriation //displacement// (vysídlení, odsun) or expulsion (vyhnání) which took place at that time? In certain perspective this question still divides the two nations. Each side has its own view from which it interprets the history. We have to note, that even before the expatriation, which was approved at the Potsdam Conference, an unorganized expulsion took place. This phase of the expatriation is considered an injustice and a violation the human rights by all scholars. It is after this expulsion, when the organized expatriation had begun. From the Czech point of view this is defined as expatriation, on the other German side the same process is labeled...

Macková, Monika ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Popovová, Marie (referee)
The main goal of my bachelor thesis was to find out how the interest of Cyprus in entering the European Union has influenced the possibility of its unification. In the first chapter I am concerned with the history of this island and also its geographical location which has had a great effect on its affairs in the past. Especially important is the beginning of the Turkish reign on Cyprus because during this time the Cypriot conflict between Greeks and Turks has arisen. In the second chapter of my thesis I describe closely the state system of Cyprus, its economic situation and the difference between Greek and Turkish parts of the island. The third chapter deals with the relationship of Cyprus to the European Union and with the changes of the Cypriot conflict which were caused by the submission of Cyprus among the candidate countries. In the fourth chapter of my thesis I focus on the present development of negotiations between the two parties and I analyze the cause of the Cypriot dispute and possible problems that would have to be dealt with in the case of unification.
