Reaction to errors and alerts in ETL
Klimt, Roman ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Zajíc, Ján (referee)
This work deals with information systems called Business Intelligence (BI). Especially, it focuses on one part, whose task is to extract data from primary information systems. This stage is known as extract, transform, load (ETL). ETL is one of the most important stage in BI solutions because the quality of data depends on this stage. These data are used for all analyses and created reports. The goal of this work is to suggest solution for active projects, which are short of automated controlling mechanism. This mechanism should inform users of BI solutions about errors in data. If data from primary systems are in such bad state that ETL process is not able to match primary keys to them, the data are stored in special tables and are not used for future analyses. This is a very serious problem because analyses and reports based on the data may be misrepresentative. This problem must be solved by repairing the data in primary information systems. The administrator of primary information system has to know about the incorrect so that the data could be repaired. Therefore, an automated e-mailing system has been designed to inform about the incorrect data.
The influence of etalons on the data qualitiy in companies
Bukovský, Radim ; Slánský, David (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
This thesis is dedicated to all persons who are interested in information of the data quality (especially the Data Cleansing). Everyone who wants to get to know more about etalons, the essential part of the data quality, is welcomed. The insight into everyday activities of people working not only on creating and administrating of etalons but also implementing them on particular projects is prepared for everyone. The reader will also gain detailed knowledge of how etalons could help companies with decreasing their costs and how etalons can make better impression to company's clients through the data quality.
Data security in public accessible computers
Fikar, Vítězslav ; Klas, Jan (advisor) ; Lešák, Petr (referee)
This composition designs data security in public accessible computers in organization, which uses for it's work sensitive dates. The first part talks about reasons why was this problem selected and judges contemporary situation. In this part, there are mentioned targets of the composition too. Next part attends to theoretic level of solved problem. It takes in information about used methodics too. There are mentioned and described individual options, which can solve problem. Following part uses theoretic knowledges in practice. There is suggested data security in the organization. There are selected alertnatives and there are given reasons for each selection. At the end, there is summarized the solution and it is compared with original condition in organization.
The value of data, information and knowledge
Řezníček, Václav ; Rosický, Antonín (advisor) ; Nemrava, Jan (referee)
The work is focused on defining data, information and knowledge with regard to their importance and value.
Administrative data propagation in an information system
Vostatek, Filip ; Buchalcevová, Alena (advisor) ; Borguľa, Martin (referee)
The goal of this paper is to demonstrate a technologically superior solution of data propagation from an administration interface of an information system and formulate it as a design/solution pattern. That corresponds with the basic form of the text, where the design pattern is defined in 13 subchapters in a structure commonly used to define design patterns. The solution is introduced as a design pattern because of high reusability and because of the problem it challenges being so frequent in modern information systems -- that is also where the benefit of this paper lies.
A comparison of Internet's influence on the human society in the 90's and today
Pavelec, Jan ; Rosický, Antonín (advisor) ; Šubrta, Václav (referee)
This work is about the Internet and its influence to the present society. The aim of this work was to illustrate the progress by which the Internet have gone thruth the last 10 - 15 years. How the possibilities of it's utilization have been changed and hightened, how the count of its users has increased and how its availibility has been boosted up. The work has got two parts. The first part defines the elementary notions related with the Internet, describes the absolute beginning of the Internet and its onset to the Czech Republic. It also includes specifications of basic services of the Internet and it's characteristics. The second part surveys the availibility of the Internet in 90's and in presents. It characterizes utilization of the Internet in selected spheres and maps its merits, negatives and negative influences. On the basics of this work there are following results: The Internet is the very important medium for the major part of the present society. The utilization of the Internet has greatly increased in last 15 years . For the major part of the society (including me) the Internet is mainly useful and its positives predominate. Unfortunatelly, there have appeared some negatives, which we should realize and be beware of.
Common Warehouse Metamodel
Jersák, Pavel ; Smolík, Jan (advisor) ; Kyjonka, Vladimír (referee)
The main issue of this work is Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM) which is used both as the standard for metadata in data warehousing and business intelligence and as means of exchange of metadata between tools in DWH. As this issue of CWM and metadata management has not been published in Czech-language so far, the main aim of this work is to introduce Common Warehouse Metamodel, its utilization in BI and also to present advantages of metadata management implementation based on CWM.
Data backup and archivation
Hrubeš, Jan ; Jandoš, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Čech, Milan (referee)
With increasing amount of data, standards for storing and security became more important theme. Potential losing of data may be irretrievable loss for a given subject and may cause disaster. From that reason, there is an aim of the work, to offer brief summary of nowadays possibilities of data securing and backuping in a company or at home conditions. Work is focused on data description and clasification, as a base security required object. Following parts of my work describe view of available technologies (Harware and Software) and generalized process of choosing suitable technology, applicable for particular system. Benefit of my work consists in systematic summary of present data backuping and archiving and in creating general method for choosing the right technologi for backup.
Master Data Management
Jakoubek, Jiří ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Zajíc, Ján (referee)
Master Data Management (MDM) represents relatively newly emerging domain. The main objective of the MDM program is to provide policies, procedures, and infrastructures that support organization, exploitation and distribution of the enterprise master data. The work is divided into two elemental parts. Goal of the first part is to answer the principal questions related to the MDM. It deals with reasons of the origin of MDM and with explanation of master data and master data management. It determines the relations between MDM and other enterprise information systems (ERP, SCM, CRM etc.), describes contributions that can bring the implementation of MDM into the enterprise and shows some indicators of the data quality in the way of MDM. There is also specified who is interested in the implementation of MDM into the enterprise and who participates in this implementation. The end of the first theoretical part shows and describes MDM component and service model. The objective of the second, practical part is to project a technique of the administration of master data in practice. It describes technologies that help in achieving this goal and it also shows an example on the representative table of master data. This part is based on the practical experience on real project that was made in cooperation with CleverDecision, s.r.o.
