Regional culture and the role of elites

Předmětem této rigorózní práce byl vztah lokálních elit a regionu, k němuž přísluší, nahlížený s ohledem na jejich specifické vlastnosti - v tomto případě demonstrovaný na příkladu chodského regionu a jeho duchovního vudce Jindřicha Šimona Baara. V teoretické části práce jsme se pokusili zasadit ruzné aspekty života a díla této významné osobnosti, přesahující rámec lokálního významu, do souvislostí s historickým a kulturním vývojem chodského regionu. Duraz byl kladen také na rozbor jednotlivých odvětví chodské lidové kultury, jako jsou lidové tradice a zvyky, nářečí, kroje či hudba a tanec; pozornost věnujeme i popisu současného stavu folklóru v regionu. Teoretickou část doplňuje empirické šetření, které má za úkol prokázat životnost odkazu osobnosti Baarova formátu v rámCi regionální kultury a poodhalit některé detaily každodenního života v místě. Srovnávací výzkum, prováděný v Praze, zdurazňuje specifičnost vztahu obyvatel vybraného regionu k nejvýraznějšímu zástupci lokální elity. Tato práce si neklade za cíl detailně analyzovat veškeré aspekty života konkrétního "duchovního vudce" či podat vyčerpávající přehled folklóru a lidové kultury regionu. Její snahou je najít souvislosti mezi vlivem regionálně významné osobnosti Baarova formátu a prožíváním vnitřní identity a integrity obyvatel zkoumaného...

The second living in urban areas: the case of garden colony in Libeň

The aim of this thesis is to capture and describe the development and current trends in the issues of second housing in the Czech Republic, with particular emphasis on investigation of recreational facilities in gardening colony Prague-Libeň. In the introductory part of this thesis the author describes a typology of recreational sites, their development and current status (expansion of recreational areas, morphological types of settlements, location of recreational facilities due to a permanent residence). The subsequent section focuses on the issues of gardening area Prague-Libeň, one of the oldest in the Czech Republic. The thesis also deals with history of the site as well as its situation nowadays - because of its location near attractive building plots (housing project Prague Marina, residential area DOCK) the colony is facing the efforts of being liquidate. On the example of Libeň gardening colony the author of this thesis points out legislative, ownership and locally-administrative aspects of the existence of urban gardening colony. The thesis also includes the qualitative sociological survey amongst residents of the colony. This survey is focused on their motivation for acquisition and subsequent maintenace of a recreational facility, social structure of the owners and how they perceive the real threat to the existence of this colony.

Human capital requirements in terms off the structural changes in the Czech Republic economy

Nowadays there has been a great public and economic discussion about recent dynamics in the labour market in the Czech Republic. We enjoy a significant decrease in the rate of unemployment, some branches of the czech economy suffer from a qualified labour power deficiency. There are signals that educational and professional structure of unemplyed people do not meet the employers' demand for qualified workers. In the first, theoretic, part I classify sectors, branches and professions together with educational levels. I describe the theoretical backround of structural changes in the economy and its effects on the labour market. I focus also on an active employment policy. The second, practical, part examines how the educational level and qualiffication influence a possibility to acquire a job in The Czech Republic. I detaily focus on differences across regions in respect to acquired education. Further I analyze how former working experience influences a final decision about engaging the employee and if the current trend is to engage graduates or experienced employees. Another part of the labour market are labour offices and HR agencies. That is why I study the differences between these two institutions, especially the differences in their clientship, again in respect to acquired education. Final conclusion resulting from my findings illustrate the trends in the czech labour market according to the economic developement and continuing structural changes. Built upon my analysis I predict which occupations will enjoy a boom and which one starts to suffer a decline. Furthermore I suggest which educational branches support and which not because they produce a lot of not-engageable people.

Pharmacovigilance in the Toxicological Information Centre

1 ABSTRACT Background The annual drug overdose rates have been increasing exponentially since the 90's worldwide. Toxicological information centre (TIC) represents a valuable source of information for evaluating the trends in the drug poisonings in Czech Republic. Aim of the study The purpose was to analyze the number and trends in the calls concerning poisonings due to central nervous system (CNS) affecting drugs, identify the reasons of medication errors caused by laymen, frequency and consequences of these errors across all age groups and also to analyze the numbers, causes, symptoms and severity of the paracetamol intoxications. Methods During the reference period the data from the enquiries were extracted from the TIC electronic database, discharge reports from the hospital were studied or phone call follow-ups with the patients were carried out to be able to evaluate the outcome of the poisonings. Results In the years 1997-2002 the number of calls caused by poisoning with tricyclic antidepressants and barbiturates decreased (by 366.7 % and 340,0 %, respectively) whereas the calls due to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and benzodiazepines overdose increased (by 1347.4 % and 359.8 %). Construction of programme: Social integration of persons threatened with unemployment and its impacts back to labour market in view of the social environment of an unemployed

V bakalářské práci jsem hledala odpověď na otázku, zda je region hlavního města Prahy dostatečně zajištěn sociálními službami, které se zabývají nezaměstnaností jako primárním problémem obyvatelstva. Po Praze existuje několik sociálních služeb, které se zabývají nezaměstnaností, jsou to však služby, které se starají pouze o nalezení zaměstnaní nebo pomáhají lidem, kteří mají specifický problém a nezaměstnanost je pouze sekundární. Takové služby jsou primárně zaměřené na jinou cílovou skupinu. Zjistila jsem tedy, že by sociální služba zaměřená na specifické potíže plynoucí z nezaměstnanosti, měla své místo. Porovnáním statistik Asociace občanských poraden a Psychosociální poradny jsem zjistila, že nezaměstnaní lidé sami vyhledávají necílené služby se svými problémy. V další části bakalářské práce jsem navrhovala službu, která v tomto regionu chybí. Tato služba je primárně zaměřená na podporu jedince v jeho snaze znovu se aktivně zapojit do komunitního života. Vychází z předpokladu, že při ztrátě zaměstnání jedinec netrpí pouze hmotným nedostatkem, ale také psychickými a sociálními dopady. Zaměřila jsem se tedy na další aspekty dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti a službu navrhovala tak, aby vyhovovala velkému množství klientů. A social-cognitive analysis of bulling in high-school students.

Bullying at school is nowadays a widely discussed topic. In her thesis, the author tried to summarize this topic and then evaluate the opinions of high school students on bullying. The problem is enhanced by relational dimension in the classroom. In the theoretical part the author deals with the overall problem of bullying, definition of key terms, definitions and focuses on bullying in school. She seeks to understand the dynamics of bullying, its penetration, stages, and its aftermath. She focuses on the personality of the victim, aggressor and other stakeholders. The theoretical part also discusses the investigation of bullying and bullying prevention alone. The theoretical part is followed by a practical part, which the author divided into three separate parts: The first part is aimed at preventing bullying and possible solutions using cognitive education. The author observed an anti-bullying intervention program in one elementary school in Prague. Based on this observation, the author described game methods, which improved the climate inside the given class. The second part focuses on research among students of selected secondary schools. The Relationship between Structure and Activity of Potential Modulators of Acetylcholinesterase

D. thesis is focused on finding structure activity relationships for the acetylcholinesterase activity modulating compounds. Standard in vitro test using rat brain homogenate as the source of acetylcholinesterase was chosen for enzyme activity assay. Later, the procedure employing the colorimetric approach according to Ellman was developed. New procedure for inhibitory efficacy assessment based on Ellmanʼs method was designed as well. Aldoxime reactivators are mainly used as the causal antidotes of organophosphorus compounds intoxications. Organophosphorus compounds are widely used for agricultural purposes as pesticides, and in the industry as a plasticizers or flame retardants. Beside the peaceful purposes, they were also developed as nerve agents applicable for chemical warfare. Toxic mechanism of the compounds is formation of covalent bond with serine (Ser203) hydroxyl in active site of acetylcholinesterase. Unfortunately, none of the currently used reactivators is able...

Marketing strategy for chosen company

The goal of this diploma thesis was to create a new marketing strategy for the chosen company. The company is seated in Prague and has been in the coffee industry business since 2003. The thesis was written to fulfill academic standards and to be a practical guide for the company itself. The first part of the thesis is the theoretical part containing theoretical principals of company strategy, situational analysis and marketing mix. In the second part we applied theory, real data, internal company workshops and our own survey to create a marketing strategy. The goal of the diploma thesis was fulfilled by creating a marketing strategy based on the company´s identity and values, carrying out a situational and market analysis and creation of a marketing mix.
