! Abstract ! This paper presents Sinjska alka, a knight's jousting tournament that has been held for the last three centuries in the town of Sinj. The paper aims to enlighten even a layman as to not only the particularities of the tournament, but also the region where it is set: the region of Cetina. In this paper, I have strived to put the development of the Sinj alka itself into a broader historical context. It not only pays special attention to the proceedings of the tournament proper, but it also focuses on the accompanying elements (the festive procession, Alka costumes, Alka tournament arms and organization of the Alka Tournament Society). The paper is supplemented with historical and contemporary photos that should bring the visual aspect of this famous Croatian tournament closer. !

Furthermore I am going to mention the secondary repertoire of the theatre for example farce. Next chapter focuses on a formal side of the Opera dei Pupi including puppeteer's personality, his work and activities, structure of the theatre itself, characteristics of puppets and handling them. The starting point of the study is a hypothesis, which tells us that a folk group helps to revitalize traditions. From methodological point of view, the study is based on field research. The research was conducted in two Ruthenian villages in the northeast Slovakia; in one of them operates a folk group. The study is also trying to determine to what extent is a group/absence of a group affecting the individual...
