Russia in the context of energy security
Řeřicha, Jan ; Bič, Josef (advisor) ; Machytka, Daniel (referee)
This bachelor thesis refers to Russian energy sector in the context of energy security. The main goal of this thesis is to compare importance of European and Asian markets for export of Russian energy. After a theoretical introduction in first chapter two main markets for export of crude oil and gas are described. Second chapter relates to European Union as a consumer of Russian energy, dependence of some states is measured, and main pipelines are mentioned. Third chapter analyzes China as the most important region outside EU and other partners -- Japan and South Korea. In Eastern Russia, new energy projects are built, which will increase the capacity for export to Eastern Asia. Last chapter points out problems of Russian energy sector -- low level of efficiency, depletion of production and investment. Economic and political importance is introduced.

The Energy dependency of world´s economic centers
Štesková, Beáta ; Vošta, Milan (advisor) ; Bič, Josef (referee)
This master's thesis aims to assess energy dependency on primary energy sources of the three main economic actors in the contemporary world scene that includes the European Union, the United States and China. Energy geopolitics gets a new face nowadays, turns upside down and the centers of world economy must face all these changes. Disparity in availability of energy sources and consumption, new drilling and manufacturing technologies, methods of extractions, new players and adopted energy policies as well as limited domestic supplies have a significant impact on the structure of the energy mix and energy (un)self-sufficiency. In the first part, the author deals with engineering and deployment of observed energy sources as well as the definition of energy dependency respectively energy security. In the next chapters, the author focuses especially on three economic centers while analyzing the nature, characteristics and trend of their production and consumption of energy as well as energy raw materials flow to these countries respectively to integrations. At the end, the author obtains by these analyses an image of energy dependency or vulnerability of these economies.

Modelování přírodních katastrof
Zuzák, Jaroslav ; Zimmermann, Pavel (advisor) ; Masec, Frant (referee)
This thesis introduces various approaches to natural catastrophe risk assessment in (re)insurance environment. Most emphasis and further elaboration is put on probabilistic models in comparison to the standard model as proposed by Solvency II. The outcomes of natural catastrophe modeling play an important role in the design of proper actuarial models related to catastrophe risk. More specifically it is shown that they can be entirely understood in a wider actuarial context, namely risk theory. Within the Solvency II framework, probabilistic model outcomes are translated by means of the proposed decomposition methodology putting them into a similar language of the standard formula in order to create the ability to compare different results implied by either probabilistic model or standard formula. This enables both comparison of the implied dependence structure of probabilistic model to standardized correlations assumed in Solvency II, and scenario year loss factors of Solvency II to implied damage factors of probabilistic models in defined cresta zones. The introduced decomposition methodology is illustrated by flood and windstorm model outcomes calculated on exposure data of Czech insurance companies and compared to the respective standard formula parameters and outcomes. Finally, other applications of the proposed decomposition methodology are introduced, such as measurement of diversification effect or blending of different results calculated by different models or even approaches to natural catastrophe risk assessment.
