This Bachelor’s thesis deals with proposal of constructional solving of wind turbine system with Savonius rotor. In the first part, thesis includes complex theoretic knowledge, that make for optimal construction wind energy source. In the second part, the concrete proposal of small wind turbine system has been drawn up, including 3D model and constructional drawings in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2009.
Low-speed Wind Turbines for Small and Medium Size Applications
Forró, Bálint ; Paar, Martin (referee) ; Procházka, Zdeněk (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis deals with usage of slow-running wind turbines for small and medium applications, especially with Savonius rotor. In first part I described theoretical usage of wind and analysis of wind power plants. Next part describes advantages and disadvantages of Savonius wind rotor and its practical usage. Thesis is ended with engineering design of wind rotor of this type for according performance at specific wind speed.
Power Supply System for Housis Using Renewable Resources
Gálus, Matej ; Punčochář, Josef (referee) ; Šebesta, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to describe the advantages of simultaneous utilization of photovoltaic and wind electricity in an autonomous system, supplying the household with electricity without connection to the electrical grid. The most used methods of connecting photovoltaic modules and wind generators to chemical batteries are discussed. Several maximum power point tracking methods and their properties are described. A block schematic diagram of an autonomous off-grid system utilizing chemical accumulators is proposed. The system also contains an inverter producing standard mains voltage 230 VAC to supply common household appliances. A Quasi-Square Wave converter topology was chosen for all three power converters. An experimental 180 W output power QSW converter with one controllable switch was designed, simulated with Pspice, manufactured and tested to verify the efficiency of the topology. Excellent agreement was found between predicted and measured efficiency at full output power. Efficiency for reliable operation varies between 89% and 92,2% at full power and depends mainly power inductor and MOSFET used. After successful evaluation of QSW topology, the power converters for the main system were designed. Because of higher power, the converters were designed as four-phase, whereas each phase contains two controllable switches to boost efficiency mainly in low-power area. The most critical and difficult part of the project was to design the mixed-signal control sections for the converters to ensure proper switching of two controllable MOSFETs in each phase. For user interactivity, main control board with graphic LC display, Ethernet module and SD memory card slot was also manufactured.
Assessment of the impact of different types of RES in the power system
Zmeškal, Pavel ; Matoušek, Antonín (referee) ; Mastný, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with usage of each kind of RES under conditions of Czech republic and their usage at areas placed in. Consequently supplied RES output power at time and its influence on reliability of supply in EPS CZ. Way of operation of RES from point of view of requirement on regulation and control of operation of EPS is more studied on operation of different kinds of wind power plants, which due to its variable output power affects not only EPS CZ. At final caption, economic influence of RES to EPS is reviewed as a unit, increasingly claims on regulation, increasingly benefit on support of RES. All these influences increase price of electricity for end user.
Wind energy
Král, Ondřej ; Brázdil, Marian (referee) ; Kracík, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis discuss wind energy sector. The first chapter focuses on basic construction types of wind power plants, their classification and description of the main parts. Basic physical principles by which electrical energy is produced, presents the next section, which deals with the lifetime of wind turbines, too. The final chapter describes the development of wind power in history, wind energy is here compared with other energy sources, and finally it is dedicated to matter of wind turbines’ energy payback.
Hydrogen fuels
Umlauf, Martin ; Bébar, Ladislav (referee) ; Jícha, Jaroslav (advisor)
Paper presents a basic review and comparison of energy-conservation made of renewable sources. Principal question of paper concerns evaluation of hydrogen-use made of electrolysis of water. First part of the thesis focuses on the production of energy from renewable sources and the possibility of energy-accumulation. The next section describes methods of hydrogen production and utilization of hydrogen as a fuel for combustion engines. Attention is paid to various aspects dealing with construction of combustion engines using hydrogen. Final part of the study presents comparison between combustion engines using known sorts of fuels as to their pollution and emission-level. Next comparison deals with economic cost per kilometer, when different sort of fuels are taken into account. Conclusion concerns approximate calculation of the production of hydrogen from water by electrolysis using photovoltaic power plants.
Usability of small wind turbine at household
Veselý, Petr ; Kracík, Petr (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
The topic of bachelor’s thesis are small wind turbines, which can be divided into five basic parts. A history of wind energy is described in the beginning. Second part is all about manufacturers of wind turbines. Legislative and operating conditoins are prescribed in next section. Penultimate section deals with construction and main components of small wind device. Last part contains aerodynamic design with technical calculations.
Design of Roof Wind Power Plant
Augustová, Andrea ; Křenek, Ladislav (referee) ; Sládek, Josef (advisor)
Topic and aim of my bachelor thesis is research and design of rooftop power plant cover in accordance with technical, aesthetic and ecological requirements. The aim is to create a cover, which will be minimalistic and modern, won’t be a disturbing element in urban areas and its shape will increase the efficiency of the wind turbine.
Renewable energy sources in the region of the North Moravia
Mazák, Tomáš ; Hrnčířová, Michaela (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The content of this work is to search an overview of basic types of renewable resources in the region of the north Moravia, respectively in the Olomouc region. In this work, are clearly described the main sources that are used in our country, especially the potential of photovoltaic systems, wind energy, water energy and biomass. For each type of renewable source is depicted a principle and the possibility to use just in the region of the north Moravia. In addition, specific applications are described in the Olomouc region, using these energy potentials.
