Comparison of physiological parameter data generated by the Metalyzer 3B in the laboratory and the Metamax 3B for use in field research
Kříž, Tomáš ; Nohel, Michal (referee) ; Chlíbková, Daniela (advisor)
Increasing quality of the sport performance creates demands related to sports data acquisition which occurs in the natural environment. Such demands are then placed on the equipment manufacturers which need to adapt and adjust equipment for artificial as well as the outdoor environment. Furthermore, required equipment must be substantially reduced in terms of its weight as well as the size to minimize possible interference with the outdoor conditions. The remaining question is to which extent such adjustments influence the validity of the data inquiry and whether laboratory testing should be prioritized before outdoor testing. This thesis aims to provide a comparison between two oxygen consumption analysers across the unified evidence-based testing protocol. The first half of the testing is made with Metalyzer 3B (laboratory-based equipment), and the second part of the testing is made with Metamax 3B (outdoor-oriented equipment). Both analysers are produced by the Cortex company. The theoretical part of this project introduces the underlying theory of the oxygen consumption analysers and presents various methods used for the establishment of the VO2max. The practical part includes the measurements of set parameters on both devices with an identical test protocol. The t-test was used to prove statistical significance between Metamax 3B and Metalyzer 3B. Results of statistical analysis (V'O2 p = 0,54; V'CO2 p = 0,087; SF p = 0,49; V'E p = 0,2; DF p = 0,28; time p = 0,59) within the range of 95% confidence intervals.

Sukovič, Richard ; Jindra, Matouš (advisor) ; Brtník, Tomáš (referee)
EFFECT OF DIFFERENT SIZES OF WHEELS OF IN-LINE SKATES ON ENERGY EXPENDITURE Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine the difference in energy expenditure when using different sizes of wheels of in-line skates. Methods: The research group consisted of 5 people in age 26,4 ± 2,2 years. This was an experiment. The calculation of energy expediture was based on the amount of oxygen consumption (VO2) and exhaled carbon dioxide (VCO2), i.e. indirect calorimetry. For the analysis of respiratory gases MetaMax 3B measuring device was used. Three sizes of wheels of the same hardness were tested. The rides were carried out on a 1,5 km section of a cycle path with the effect of the height difference of 2 mm/m. Probands completed one test ride (with a cadence of 70 rpm) on each size set of wheels. Test ride lasted for 5 minutes. For results were processed values of 3 minutes steady state VO2. Results: We found out a noticeable difference in energy output between 72 mm and 90 mm large wheels. The difference between driving on 72 mm and 80 mm large wheels and driving on 80 mm and 90 mm large wheels was, due to the standard error of measurement, insignificatnt. Conclusion: The energy expenditure reached a noticeable increase in driving with a larger diameter of wheels compared to driving on...

Analysis of three several-month training sessions of the endurance runner at higher altitudes
VONDRÁŠKOVÁ, Aneta
The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze three several-month concentration of a long-distance runner at higher altitude. Specifically, we compared the results of the measured values before staying in zones of high altitude and after arrival from high altitude. The tested individual was housed in Kenya in the town of Iten, located at 2,400 meters above sea level. To elaborate this thesis, we used the method of content analysis and the comparative method. To obtain the results, we used laboratory tests spiroergometry, spirometry, body composition and Wingate test. Then, the data was processed using material significance. The material significance was defined using Cohen's d. Our results showed an increase in red blood cells, an increase in VO2max, a reduction in heart rate, a reduction in morning heart rate. From these results, it is clear that alpine training has a positive effect on the performance of the athlete.
