Through war to discoveries. Denon’s road to art
Hrbata, Zdeněk
This paper analyses the key discourse levels in Voyage dans la Basse et la Haute Égypte, a book by Vivant Denon, a member of the society of scholars and artists that accompanied Napoleon’s military expedition to Egypt. From May 1798 to October 1799 Denon wrote a chronologically incomplete chronicle of the Egyptian campaign, including battles, encounters, pursuits, the horrors of war and the extreme conditions, a chronicle that is concurrently a travelogue journal with the customary topics (inhabitants, mores and customs) and an epic structure (the voyage, obstacles, wanderings and struggles). Moreover, as the author looks around ebes, Luxor, Denderah (Tyntiris) and Aswan, he colourfully and enthusiastically relates the discovery of Egypt, carefully describing and tirelessly drawing. The variety of discourses in Denon’s Travels (e.g. the discourse of war and its heroization, as well as its cruel aspect; the discourse of discoveries and emerging Egyptology; travelogue discourse) gradually takes on the form of the rivalry and conflict of different times.

The Case Law Publication
Králík, Lukáš ; Kühn, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Maršálek, Pavel (referee) ; Masopust, Zdeněk (referee)
The phenomenon of the case law and publication of the case law reports has been present in our legal culture at least since the 13th century, as well as in some other European countries. Court decisions in writing occurred through several types of documents and sources. We can trace the case law documents in the public royal records ("the plates"), the law books and the first constitutional codifications of law. There is even particular group of the law collections which we can actually name as the original case law reports. The case law reports were designed even before this period of time. Unfortunately, no such original law reports survived up to the present day. We can strongly state the sustainable tradition of typical case law collections in the Czech legal culture since the medieval times. The very first case law reports in modern sense of meaning came in late 1850`s. But the periodicals case law reports in the Czech language eventually appeared with the year of 1918 when the Czech state was restored. Creating the case law reports and its headnotes falls within the process of court decisions publication. The courts, which constitute the top of the judicial pyramid, operate with their special individual instruments on their case law publication. The official law reports have been established...

"He has paid and owes nothing." Aspects of the transaction with the serf estate in the town of Mělník in the 17th century
Koumar, Jiří ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Maur, Eduard (referee) ; Chocholáč, Bronislav (referee)
The thesis deals with the issue of property transfer of servile real estates in the Estate of Melnik during the 17 century. As the main resource material was used the collection of Melnik Books of Land Ownership founded during the 80s of the 16 century. After the Thirty Years' War these books were restored in connection with the afterwar reconstruction of the Estate of Melnik and were published in a new edition until the turn of the 17 and 18 century. Besides these Books of Land Ownership we also studied other kinds of resources such as land and duties registers, land-registries, inventories and estimations which originated in the 17 century with respect to this Estate. In the end of the 17 century was formed a uniquely preserved register of serfs which enables us not only to have better knowledge of the structure of settled farmers themselves but also create the first picture of general structure of servile population in the Estate. In the introduction I tried to place the Estate of Melnik in the structure of Early Modern Times country estates. With the size ranging from medium to smaller the Estate of Melnik was formally as a chamber estate in possession of the Czech king for the most of its development in the period of Early Modern Times. Nevertheless in reality the Estate as a pawned land was held by...

Přibylová, Jana ; Vlasák, Josef (advisor) ; Janovská, Vratislava (referee)
In the first part of my thesis I focus on the historical development of real estate records from the Middle Ages to the present land register of Czech Republic. I focus mainly on description of the land terriers, recording system and individual registers. The second part documents and clearly defines the ownership structure and other in rem laws to the land since the second half of 19th century until 1950, according to the individual library insertions of land terriers kept in the cadastral Solopysky at Třebnice. Moreover, it also allows comparison of data collected from the land terriers and the current state of ownership and land fragmentation.

The roots of the transformation trought in the Czech dissent before the year 1989
Čech, Jan ; Půlpán, Karel (advisor) ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (referee)
This thesis traces the roots of the transformation thought in samizdat publications of the Czech dissent. Although nearly twenty years have passed since Communism collapsed and the ideas in question became relevant, there is still a lack of knowledge about the subject. In order to fill in this gap, the thesis provides the reader with a literature review, summarizing and evaluating the sources of various types (e.g., articles in samizdat periodicals, samizdat books), and with background information (e.g., the identity of authors publishing under pseudonyms) obtained by interviewing contemporaries. Of special importance is the work of Zdislav Šulc who, owing to his chef-d'oeuvre, the Government and Economics, emerges from this study as the central figure of the Czech samizdat economic literature. Roučková, Marie ; Balabán, Milan (advisor) ; Hošek, Pavel (referee)
The aim of this work is to portrait prophet Jonah and the tales of his book according to the Jewish tradition. It tries to map the historical and theological background of the origin of the book of Jonah, and on this basis to select the themes the book reacts to and reshapes. One chapter tries to capture the mythological and archetypal motives described in the book of Jonah. The main body of this work, though, is devoted to the very story of Jonah in his book, and its interpretation in the Jerusalem Talmud, in the Babylonian Talmud, in midrashim, in the Kabbalistic text of the Zohar, and in Jona-Vita, the legend of Jonah's life. It also pays attention to the connection between the book of Jonah and the Feast of Yom Kippur, as well as to the comprehension of repentance phenomenon in Judaism. In the conclusion, this work tries to summarize the elementary approaches to interpretation of the book of Jonah, and their significance in Jewish traditions. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Review of the book Natural capitalism
Bohužel i v této kapitole chybí odpovídající konkrétní doklady.

Things and voidness (a philosophical inquiry on the selected themes of the Zhuangzi)
Machek, David ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee) ; Lomová, Olga (advisor)
The core of the paper is a philosophical and philological analys i s of four shorter passages from the old chinese philosophical text Zhuangzi. Considering traditional Chinese commentaries ( especially Guo Xiang) and inspired by modem continental philosophy ( especially Ricoeur and Heidegger), the author seeks to interconnect some of the crucial philosophical themes (losing and forgetting of I, change, freedom, dream, usefulness/uselessness) and build a framework for an overall philosophical interpretation, which would challenge the wide-spread but one-sided view claiming Zhuangzi to be a relativist and irationalist. Drawing on reflections that will find a key to the text in a Zhuangzi 's call for mutual incorporation of the voluntary with the involuntary and the reflective with the spontaneous the author is trying to grasp the relation of things and voidness as the underlying principle or reality. Much like the whole text of Zhuangzi this relation is also intrinsically ambiguous. Voidness tums out to be nothing but an expanded thingness, things, however, cannot be expanded unless they cease to be things. This conflict is incorporated in an sage, whose wisdom and legitimacy as a ruler over things is determined by the ability to accept this conflict and to reconciliate with himself.

The Greek Culinary Art
Urbanová, Alice ; Souček, Jan (advisor) ; Fischerová, Sylva (referee)
The main aim of this thesis is to present a lucid summary and a critical evaluation of the (often ambiguous) ancient testimonies concerning the Greek culinary art from the classical up to the imperial era. The sources are divided in two groups. The first one is made up from prosaic works, i. e. cookbooks themselves, specialised treatises and some medical tractates concerned with dietetics and proprieties of foodstuffs. The second group consists of poems on gastronomic themes. A serious problem is constituted by considerable fragmentariness of the extant sources, which in some cases prevents us from making any definite judgments on the sources' content. Attention is paid also to food as such and the diet composition at the time, the whole theme being set in wider social framework. The thesis also incorporates a translation of and commentary on several selected extant receipts.
