Nutrition of professional sportsmen
VACHOUTOVÁ, Petra
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to map the nutrition of top sportsmen. The thesis is divided in 2 parts; theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part we dealt with nutrition of top athletes in comparison with the general population. In the practial part we have chosen two groups of professional bodybuilders and footballers. For the research questions we used the qualitative method. Research questions are as follows: RQ 1: What are the eating habits of professional sportsmen? RQ 2: Which foods are indispensable for professional sportsmen? RQ 3: What supplements do professional sportsmen use? RQ 4: What do professional sportsmen think about doping? The data were collected using a semi-structured interview. The interviews were attended by seven bodybuilders from the Pilsen region and seven footballers from the Olomouc and Pilsen regions. The informants were chosen by the snowball sampling technique. Four charts in categories were created from the interview data, the individual subcategories were described and compared between two selected sports disciplines: bodybuilding and football. The results are showing us that the nutrition of top athletes is subject to certain rules, but it is important to mention the individuality we have faced in each sport discipline in all aspects. Nutrition of athletes cannot be considered as a healthy lifestyle and the food supplements are an integral part of the nutrition of professional athletes. Doping is perceived as a negative element of sports on a professional level. The output of this work is also an educational leaflet with recommendations of suitable eating habits not only for top athletes.
Children's eating habits
PLONER, Michaela
This bachelor thesis deals with children´s eating habits. My thesis is focused on eating habits of preschool children. It comprises two parts. First part deals with children who do attend nursery school and second part deals with children who do not attend nursery school. Theoretical part of this thesis is focused on how the healthy eating habits should look like and what should be the average daily amount of nutrient intake. Thesis deals with factors associated with nutrition and developing eating habits. It also deals with the way children eat in nursery school. I interviewed 60 preschool children and their parents. 45 of these children attend nursery school and 15 do not. This thesis comprises two parts. The aim of first part was to evaluate what are current children´s eating habits. The aim of second part was to analyse the amount of nutrient intake. Practical part of my bachelor thesis is based on a questionnaire. 28 questions were answered by parents. I monitored both groups and their five-day dietary intake of morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack which should contain about 60 % of daily dietary intake. Collected data were analysed using programme Nutriservis Professional. I get the average dietary intake value and the amount of nutrient. As far as my research shows, the average dietary intake value more or less correspondes with recommended preschool children´s dietary intake. Eating habits are a little bit different but could be evaluated as acceptable. The worst factor is the frequency of particular food groups consumption. Unfortunately, it does not correspond to recommended amount of daily intake. The difference between children who eat in a nursery school and children who eat at home is imperceptible.
