Charles University in Prague Faculty of Science Department of Social Geography and Regional Development Robin Rašín The Landscape of the Czech-Austrian Borderland: Development and Heritage Summary Roztoky u Křivoklátu 2010 1 Landscape is a key geographical concept and geographical research on land change and land use has a tradition that can be dated back for almost a hundred years. The development of the subject orientation of land change science can be divided into two phases. (i) During the first phase (50's/60's of the 20th century) the description of landscape and its morphology (structure) were at the centre of research interest along with the research of the potential for agro-production. This particular type of study was motivated by the need to find a solution to the problem of the increasing inability to supply a growing (European) population with agricultural products. (ii) In the second phase (circa from 70's of the 20th century), the attention of scientists towards the accelerated rate of land change on a global scale that can be associated with: the increase of human population, changes in agricultural techniques, mining, environmental exploitation et cetera. There is an obvious need to solve the negative impacts of the human activities on the landscape at different scales (from local to...

Handicaped people exente of punishment
Staroňová, Heda ; Šotolová, Eva (referee) ; Bajcura, Lubomír (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to characterize a specialized department for the mentally handicapped in the execution of the punishment. In the theoretical part of the work I have tried to describe the development of the Czech prison, the possibility of treatment in prisons and crime from the perspective of criminology. In the practical part, I looked at a group of disabled prisoners who did their sentence in a specialized department in a Vinařice prison. In particular, I examined their family background, their own self-assessment and their current feelings in their execution of punishment. This information, I analyzed by a questionnaire survey of case reports and interviews with the prisoners themselves. Some information was also provided by employees of the department. The results I had received at the end of my work helped me with my attempt to provide options on how the execution of the punishment for the mentally handicapped could be possibly improved. Key words: Existing Legislation, Psychology, Sociology, Penology, Special Education, Prison Pedagogy and Health Care.

Kupera, Adam ; Keyzlarová, Sandra (referee) ; Vágner, Jiří (advisor)
5 ABSTRACT The research on garden colonies in Czechia follows an ongoing focus of the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development (Faculty of Science, Charles University) on specific forms of recreation in Czechia, specifically on projects concerning individual short-term recreation and secondary housing. The goal of this diploma thesis is to provide a comprehensive image of gardening in selected model regions of the Czech Republic, offer possible outlook, compare and evaluate current state and changes in functional use of garden colonies and analyze causes of their transformation. To accomplish this goal, we analyzed results of questionnaires and terrain investigations conducted in the individual model regions. One of the most important items of the study was the analysis of changes in functional use of the gardening colonies. We also evaluated selected characteristics of the gardening colonies and compared results from individual model regions. The conclusion of this analysis and evaluation is that in addition to the continuing production function of gardens and their substantial social-economic function, gardens also serve as a place for both psychic and stamina regeneration and a place of recreation. The gardens are also being transformed to objects of secondary housing or permanent...

Chlupáčová, Marta ; Hartl, Jiří (advisor) ; Kuneš, Jiří (referee) ; Čižmárik, Jozef (referee)
1 SUMMARY This dissertation thesis deals with searching for potential drugs, particularly with preparation and biological activity study of natural compounds derivatives - chalcones. The work includes preparation of intermediates - 5-alkylated pyrazin-2-carbonitriles and 1-pyrazinyl-2-ethanones. Substituted chalcones, several series of pyrazine analogues of chalcones and Michael adducts of chalcones with different thiols were prepared as final products. In this part of the work, known reaction methodologies were used. Products were identified by melting point, resp. boiling point, IR, NMR spectra. Their purity was checked by elemental analysis. In the case of liquids, elemental analysis could not be performed, and MS spectra were recorded instead. In total were prepared  22 intermediates (9 of them have been described in our department)  62 final products (19 of them have been already described)  1 by-product 57 Unknown compounds were prepared. Synthesis of 12 compounds was not successful. The final products were tested for their antimycobacterial, antifungal, antialgal, and antiaggregating effects. The chalcones were examined for the ability to inhibit one of the cysteine protease - papain and this part of the work continued in a preliminary kinetic study of reaction addition of chalcones with thiol-...

The objective of this thesis is to cover the development of international relations of the Czechoslovak and Czech archival science after 1918 up to this day. The international relations primarily stand for the forms of cooperation under the patronage of full statehood, the support on the part of official authority and also scientific institutions. Likewise, the Czech archivists' research at the external archives has been taken into account. It was initiated more intensively in connection with the constitution of our archival administration after 1954. Being a part of the thesis, the overview of official journeys was compiled on the basis of our archivists' reports from the official trips. These reports create a part of the register office that belongs to the Department of the Archives Administration at the Ministry of the Interior. Although the international relations have to all intents and purposes begun to develop aťter 1945. this thesis also includes chapters dealing with the Czechoslovak archival science development after 1918 and the restitutional proceeding in the sphere of archival science after the World War I and World War II. A separate chapter is dedicated to the archives and records disjuncture within the context of the end of the federation in 1993. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Criminality in traffic as a part of special section of criminology
RICHTEROVÁ, Michaela
The issue of car accidents associated with committing crime is quite wide and current topic. From this issue results goal of this work, to chart the crime in traffic and in this context to review, if crimes in traffic effected the policemen and the participants of the car accident in their life. The work is divided in two parts the theoretical and the practical. In the theoretical part I focused on what are car accidents, how they are divided and what are their reasons. I was also dealing with how it goes on with search of premises of the car accident and if the traffic participants hold back the accidents and how they do it. The aggressive acting of the drivers is also why the accidents happen so often that is why I deemed necessary to deal with this sphere. I focused on what are the signs and prevention of the aggressive drivers and I also mentioned so much discussed campaign "You don't think - You will pay" (Nemyslíš - zaplatíš). The car accidents have tragic effects, that is why I also referred how it is with casualties and survivors of these car accidents. I also added to my work what are the crimes, their dividing, signs and definition. Many people don't know the difference between crime and penal offence, that is why I thought it will be useful to mention the differences and also the common feature in my work. At last I divided the crime in the most common which appear in traffic frequently and the others which come under traffic however they are not the most frequent. I was also interested what is the procedure on investigation of crime and how proceeds the trial by court. I couldn't leave out what are the punishments and their execution of a punishment in traffic. In the second practical part I have used qualitative analysis. I have collected the information through the use of questioning technique semi-controlled interview. The interviews were implemented with ten communicative partners five of which were the Policemen of the Czech Republic from the car accidents department and the others five communicative partners were traffic participants who took part in a car accident. These two groups of communicative partners I have chosen by method snowball sampling. The questions were divided in three major ranges. The ranges covered car accidents, crime and the mental impact on intervened policeman and the participant after the car accident. For completion of the goal were provided two questions. The first question was investigating what is the most frequent crime in traffic. The second question was addressed to what is the mental impact of the car accidents on intervening policeman and the participant of the accident in their life. The results illustrated that both the groups the policemen of the Czech Republic and the participants of the car accident were in accord with commission of crime in traffic where they indicated as the most frequent crime Threat under the influence of drugs and Bodily harm by negligence. Among the others most frequent crime the policemen introduced Obstructing an officer verdict and the participant of accident Unauthorized use of another's property and Public safety threat. The second investigative question showed that the accidents effected both the groups mentally in connection with commission of a crime in their life. The participants are more worried about their relatives and they are afraid of the roads since they experienced serious accident. Some of them mentioned that they are afraid to be driven by someone else in the car and some of them are afraid of driving because they don't trust themselves. The accidents affect the policemen mentally because they face them and in the place of the accident they recall the tragic scene. Thanks to their profession they are more careful on the roads, they drive carefully because they can see effects which can occur. They are more concern for their relatives since they work as policemen.
