The time of the Prague Springof 1968 drawn out in the journal Literární listy This work looks into the profile of the journal Literární listy during the period of the Prague Spring of 1968; my exposition is preceded by a reflection of the political and socio- cultural atmosphere of these times. In the introduction, I give a brief overview of what was happening on the political and cultural scene, since the early loosening of internal relations in the late 1950's as well as through out the 1960's in the former Czechoslovakia (a so-called "melting period"), and an overall evaluation of the situation from a cultural point of view (including the relationship between writers and authorities, the emancipation of cultural journals from the official party and state policies, the development at the 4th congress of Svaz československých spisovatelů (Czechoslovak Writers' Union) and the voiced criticism of the regime. The following pages recall the main points of developments during the months of the Prague Spring of 1968. The vision of this work, to which I dedicate the largest part, is to expound and analyze the contemporary key themes, how it is reflected in the major journalistic contributions to the journal Literární listy: articles on current internal and foreign policy situations, probing the recent...

The development of John's political career, evolution of his personal characteristic, qualities, ways and means of communication is described down to available sources, including eyewitness to his acting, authentic records, media resources, and also by personal profile analysis of politically active person brought by science books. On the basis of results of this thesis we may come to the conclusion about political elite's responsibility in the context of political turns in February 1948.

Nedbal, Václav ; Mikeska, Tomáš (advisor) ; Parkan, František (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the appropriate and effective use of film and serial adaptations of topics falling into the period of communist totalitarianism in Czechoslovakia (that is between 1948 and 1989, with emphasis on the period 1948-1969). The thesis is divided into four chapters, whereas the main part, which is didactic, is described in the third and fourth chapter. The first chapter describes the basic historical context of the communist government in Czechoslovakia between 1948 and 1989. It also shows and explains the origin of the idea of communism, the further development of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia during the First Republic, and the postwar Third Republic. This chapter was put together using found edited sources and secondary literature. The second chapter deals with individual film and serial processing of topics related to the period. It presents specific films and series which were produced in the most recent years (or the post-revolutionary period), but also materials produced during the totalitarianism before 1989. In this chapter some works are discussed in greater detail, others are presented as selected alternative options for interaction for educational purposes. Communist propaganda in the Vlasta magazine 1948 - 1956
Helikarová, Petra ; Suk, Pavel (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
This thesis deals with the manifestations of the Communist propaganda in the period 1948- 1956 in the Czechoslovakian women's press, represented here by the Vlasta weekly magazine. It summarily presents the political and media situation in Czechoslovakia after World War Two and describes the two most significant organisations of the Czechoslovak women's movement at the time, together with their magazines, Československá žena and Rada žen, which preceded Vlasta. It presents the establishment of the Vlasta weekly magazine and introduces the two editors in chief, who managed the magazine in the period in question. Due to its extraordinary importance, it devotes a separate chapter to the most significant figure of the then Czechoslovak women's movement and in many aspects an exceptional personality Dr. Milada Horáková who initiated the establishment of Vlasta and published her own works in the magazine up to February 1948. After a theoretical introduction of Communist propaganda, the thesis presents its manifestations through specific examples from the content of Vlasta. The period in question is divided into three periods, the landmark year of 1948, when following the relatively independent beginning of Communist propaganda after the February Coup, this doctrine took complete control of the initially...
The Reflection of Edvard Beneš in The Czechoslovakian Press in the Selected Periods of 1948-1988
Svatoš, Jiří ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
In my diploma thesis I came to the conclusion that the frequency of mentions about Edvard Beneš fluctuated in the monitored media. From the examined periods, Rudé právo, Lidová demokracie and Svobodné slovo most often wrote about him in 1968 (a total of 37 mentions), in 1958 there were 32 mentions and in 1978 and 1988 there were 25 mentions. On the contrary, in sum of all the examined periods, there were only a few mentions in some years - for example, in 1983 there were 4 mentions, in 1948 there were 8 mentions and in 1973 there were 10 mentions. Rudé právo most often wrote about Edvard Beneš (96 references in all), in Svobodné slovo 47 and in Lidová demokracie 37. This can be explained by the fact that during the Communist regime Rudé právo had more pages than the other two newspapers and it also paid more attention to politics. In the researched media, Edvard Beneš was most often mentioned in connection with the February coup d'état anniversaries. In the qualitative analysis, I came to the conclusion that the studied newspapers mostly wrote about Edvard Beneš neutrally (57 percent of all mentions), negative references were 35 percent, and 8 percent were positive. During the 1950s, the analysed media was mostly critical to Edvard Beneš. However, in 1963 I noticed 50 percent of neutral references....
