The Reaction to Soviet Occupation of Czechoslovakia in French Press

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the reaction to the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1968 in the French press. It describes what the analyzed periodicals focused on the most and how the event was perceived. It also describes how the political and social situation in France, especially the May 1968 protests, shaped the way the press percieved the occupation. The source material consists of three nationwide newspapers that cover a wide range of political opinion: Le Figaro, Le Monde and L'Humanité from July to August 1968. One conclusion is that all three periodicals were unanimous in rejecting the Soviet intervention, however, their opinions varied partially due to their different political orientation. The press was identified with the Czech people and the reform process of the Prague Spring. However, the similarities and comparison between the situation in France in 1968 and the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia were not explicitly reflected upon by the journalists. Still, the inner political status of France implicitly played a role in the way the events were interpreted and how much attention it was given. This work considers questions, why the prevention of attempt to socialism with a human face in Czechoslovakia took place in 1968. The work sequentially makes a statement on then political mentality in that era as well as it considers the outer influences that led to an army intervention of Warsaw Pact's lands into Czechoslovakia in August 1968. The work should answer the following question, why the break of sub political progress came true that consequently aimed at the normalization orientation.

Jews in the Protectorat and attempts of their rescure

This thesis is about modern Jewish history in the territory of Czechoslovakia, specifically the history of 2WW. It maps the fate of Jews under the new circumstances that had prevailed right after the declaration of the Protectorat of Bohemia and of Moravia, on the 15th of March, 1939. In keeping with those changes according to the new political system that was forcibly implemented, new and new anti-Jewish regulations were published with a view of total displacement of Jews from society and their total liquidation in compliance with Hitler's "final solution". It emphasizes some attempts to save Jews not only by "ordinary non-aryan people", but also by the Jewish resistance and last but not least by the government in exile. This work attempts to explain what led rescuers to their actions and their motivations, including some known rescuers, such as Nicholas Winton and Přemysl Pitter.

How changed the image of the Soviet Union in the protectorate daily press-comparison of the contemporary media contents in august-september 1939 and june-juli 1941

Diploma thesis "Change of the Soviet Union image in the protectorate press based on comparison of the media content from the turn of August/September 1939 and June/July 1941" deals with the manner in which the protectorate newspapers informed about the Ribbentop-Molotov Pact and later about the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The examples of these events and their reflection in the Protectorate press demonstrate how flexibly the protectorate propaganda responded to the current political line. For the purposes of the thesis, there have been selected three newspapers: Polední list, Večerní České Slovo and Venkov. These periodicals were examined in two time-bound periods, from 23rd August till 27th September 1939 and from 16th June till 14th July 1941. The methodology used is a historical comparative analysis, which discusses the transformation of Protectorate propaganda attitudes in the dependence on the historical context, and semiotic analysis, which deals with period media discourse and reveals ideology sustained on the level of sign systems.

Perception of Czechoslovakian cinematography by German film periodicals between 1933-1945

Diploma thesis "Perception of Czechoslovakian cinematography by German film periodicals between 1933 - 1945" deals with the Czech film industry as it was received by German specialized press with an emphasis on the recognition of changes, that took place after the formation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The period is divided into two stages. The first, 1933 to March 15, 1939 and the second, March 16, 1939 to May 1945, when the end of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia was proclaimed. Historical events determined the path of Czech cinematography and later protectoral cinematography (Slovak cinematography was not developed at the time). These events are specified in the thesis as well as the Czech film industry in terms of local and foreign production, distribution, film - makers and organizations. A lot of news from Czech lands was published in the German press due to close connections between Czech and German cinematography which was only further interconnected after the formation of the Protectorate. The analytical portion comprises a historical comparison of texts from daily Der Film - Kurier, weekly Der Film and monthly Der deutsche Film. European Union and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Next year will the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories celebrate the 50th Anniversary. European Union, the most significant trade partner of Israel as well as the biggest donor of Palestine, was for a long time a mere observer of a situation of deepening of the occupation and postponing of its end because of building of Israeli settlements on the one side and of gradual division of Palestinian territories between radical Hamas and Fatah. Just in the autumn of 2015 the European Union decided to take a restrictive step towards Israel by setting clear rules of labelling of Israeli goods produced in those Israeli settlements. However, a harsh response has come both from the Israeli government and from some of EU member states. Therefore this work focuses on evaluation of the legitimacy of this move and on trying to assess the reason of its partial failure.

Use of Literary Artwork As a Way to Open the Topic of Unfreedom

The Bachelor thesis describes the preparation and realization of a project that happened as a two-day workshop of drama education for pupils of secondary school. This workshop was created on the basis of two books written by Peter Sís Tibet: Through the Red Box and Wall: Growing Up Behind the Iron Curtain, These books introduce topics : occupation and unfree life in a totalitarian regime.
The first part describes the literary artworks and possibilities of their use in proces of dramatic education. The following part is describing a report about the bachelor project that was run two times . In the final chapter you can see a lesson scenario of the two days workshop.
In attachment there are the materials that were used during the workshop, structures of lessons and written reflections of the participants.

Children Theatre in Podblanicko

This diploma thesis deals with the repertoire of children ensembles of Podblanicko region up to 1989 and focuses on their genre and thematical range, quality of texts and the alterations of the repertoire in the context of political, cultural and social changes. The thesis is divided into five parts, according to different historical periods: 1st the time period up to 1918, 2nd the time period between the World Wars, 3rd Occupation and the Second World War, 4th the Freeze and Thaw , 5th Normalization. Firstly, each of these parts presents historical context, education system of Podblanicko region in the national context and development of contemporary literature for children and youth. Then it concentrates on the actual research of children theater in Podblanicko region.
