Ability to write with a nondominant limb in adult population
Ševčíková, Iveta
v anglickém jazyce This thesis analyses the ability to write by a nondominant limb in adult population. First three (theoretical) chapters introduce the issue of communication, aphasia, laterality and writing skills. The fourth chapter brings the research which was realized with a group of intact people. The research compares the results of the test written by dominant and nondominant limb. The aim of this diploma thesis is the contribution to a validity verification of testing writing skills by a nondominant limb
Development of the Methodology of Left-hander's Writing and Teacher's Attitude toward Left-handed Children
Hradecká, Lucie ; Kropáčková, Jana (advisor) ; Wildová, Radka (referee)
The thesis follows the development of the methodology of left-handers's writing, teacher's usage of the knowledge of methodology in a practice, researching the materials aimed in left- handness dedicated to teachers and parents, describing statements and opinions of the concrete primary teachers on left-hander's methodology. The thesis consists of the theoretical part and the empiric part. In the therotical part there are defined terms laterality and dominance, the development of the methodology of left-hander's writing since the year 1967 when this type of writing was legalised in the Czech Republic. The possibilities of getting information about the problematic of left-handness are summed, including books and trainings for primary school teachers. Finally, available equipment for left-handers is introduced. The research combines two methods - questionnaire and interview. The quantitative research is supposed to come up with the concrete percentage of left-handed pupils and with the general knowledge of teachers connected with methodology of left-hander's writing. The qualitative research was made by the form of interiewing teachers and Ivo Vodička. The aim of the thesis is to find out the way how to train teachers effectively based on researched information. Laterality influence on the violinists locomotor system disorders
Hábová, Tereza ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Maršáková, Kateřina (referee)
ABSTRACT Title: Laterality influence on the violinists locomotor system disorders Objectives: The main object of this work is to find relation between laterality (dominance, preferences body) and forced left-sided activities - playing the violin, and to authenticate if the forced lateral activity indicate greater effect on musculosceletal disorders in the nondominant laterality. Methods: Questionnaire includes questionnaire part, preference task and performance task, it's anonymous. Probands are students of music conservatory and professionals violinist of chambre and symphony orchestra. The final number of probands who have involved the questionnaire is 110 (66 womens and 44 mens). Results: The hypothesis hasn't been confirmed. Results showed better subjective evaluation of potential musculoskeletal disorders by probands left-handers Keywords: playing the violin, laterality, dominance, musculoskeletal disorders
Manifestation of cerebellar dominance in the form of extinction physiological syndrome on upper and lower limbs and its relationship to human laterality
Rybář, Adam ; Musálek, Martin (advisor) ; Tlapáková, Eva (referee)
1 Title: Manifestation of cerebellar dominance in the form of extinction physiological syndrome on upper and lower limbs and its relationship to human laterality. Objectives: The aim of this diploma thesis is to determinate size of relationship between manifestation of cerebellar dominance in the form of extinction physiological syndrome and preference of limbs. Methods: A total of 27 individuals (male and female students of UK FTVS) were involved in the current quantitative research. We used indicators which were selected from Musalek's test battery (2013) to assess limb preferences. The evaluation of joint passivity asymmetry was based on angle and time parameters during walk and during controlled falls of forearm and shank on a constructed fall-machine. The movement was registered in real time by Qualisys Motion Capture System. For data analysis, descriptive statistics methods, paired t-test, level of statistical and substantive significance (Cohen's d) and tetrachoric coefficient of correlation were used. Results: Our research suggests that there is no significant difference in joint passivity when comparing preferred and non preferred limbs. Though it is necessary to take into consideration specifics and the size of research sample in which everybody was an active athlete. The result of tetrachoric...
Accuracy in throwing on the vertical target depending on combination of crossed and identical hand - eye laterality in selected population of FTVS students
Studnař, Lukáš ; Musálek, Martin (advisor) ; Komarc, Martin (referee)
Title: Accuracy in throwing on the vertical target depending on combination of crossed and identical hand - eye laterality in selected population of FTVS students. Objectives: The aim of this study is determination of any disparity in success rate and darts distribution among selected strongly right-handed and left- handed population of male and female students of FTVS in throwing on the vertically positioned target. Methods: The main research method was used descriptive association method. A total of 60 individuals were enrolled in the study. We used Musalek's test battery (2013) containing questionnaire part, preferential tasks and proficiency tests to define particular sidedness of individual probands. Further a specific task of the throw at the target was employed. For data analysis we used descriptive statistics methods, chi-squared test goodness of fit, analysis of variance, tetrachoric correlation and level of substantive significance expressed by Cohen's d. Results: The results indicated that left-handed individuals did not show a significantly better accuracy in throwing at the vertically positioned target compared with right-handed individuals. It seems that gender is an important factor that affects the level of accuracy in the throws on target because male showed significantly better...
