National and racial stereotypes in television commercials : (with the focus on USA)

Diploma thesis "National and racial stereotypes in television commercials (with the focus on USA)" deals with the racist tendencies in contemporary American television advertising. The goal is to describe stereotypical presentations of the black people, Hispanics and Asians in commercial work, and to illustrate the presence of these stereotypes on particular television spots. Theoretical part of the text addresses general characteristics of advertising with the focus on the specifics and the influence of television commercials in a relation to national and racial minorities. Moreover, it defines the concept of stereotype, and concerns the impacts of stereotypical images of minorities in advertising and media in general. Thereafter, I dwell on the history of American racist approach towards each of the minorities mentioned above, and the evolution of their media representation from its beginning to the present time. The end of this part is devoted to the specific ways of stereotypical presentation of minorities in contemporary commercial work. Practical part of the thesis describes the method of qualitative textual analysis, which I use to analyze the television spots. Israeli-Egyptian relations

Bachelor thesis describes the Israeli-Egyptian relations and their development since the creation of State Israel to the present. The first part deals with the historical development of Palestine and Egypt before the emergence of Israel and captures the most important moments of the shared history of Egypt and Israel, and substantial changes in their relations after the establishment of Israel. The text also offers insight into the negotiations which led to the conclusion of the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, the first such agreement in the Middle East. The last part is devoted to the development of relations between the two countries since the eighties to the present and their developing economic cooperation.

The complex of wabet and court in temples of the Thirtieth Dynasty and the Ptolemaic and Roman period

The study at hand focuses on an architectural complex or ensemble that regularly occurs in temples of the Thirtieth Dynasty and the Ptolemaic and Roman period. This ensemble generally combines an open court with an elevated and covered chapel, and is referred to as 'court' and wabet, respectively. The present study aims to bring together the common characteristics and essential components of all ensembles of wabet and court in order to get a better understanding of the ensemble's role in the temple and its development over time. Following a brief introduction to the thirteen temples that appear to contain this ensemble in their core and to the complexes themselves (chapter 1), the following chapters focus on the ensemble's location, orientation, layout, and chronology (chapter 2), the designations in use to refer to this complex (chapter 3), a description and analysis of the texts and reliefs applied to its walls (chapter 4), and a study of the origin and development of this decorative scheme (chapter 5) in order to gain a better insight into the activities performed in the complex and its role within the temple. Terminal classroom with LTSP

The purpose of this work is to find out whether it is possible to implement the Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP) on production systems such as schools, offices etc. LTSP is an open sourced system for distributing the Linux-based operating systems to limited number of thin clients using common TCP/IP networks, Small computer laboratory network, used mainly for educational purposes, is chosen for the installation, configuration and testing of the LTSP and the additional subsidiary courseware. After reading following text, reader should be informed firstly about the history, future development and use cases of the LTSP and secondly should be able to install, configure and implement similar solution in TCP/IP networks.

The collection of manuscripts and old prints the Museum´s in Strakonice.

This presented diploma thesis deals with a list of manuscripts and old prints stored within the library collections of the Museum in the Middle Pootaví in Strakonice. After the total research of the book collection was allocated 83 manuscripts, one incunabula and 291 titles of old prints. On the basis of these lists was executed the detailed description, parsing and analysis of manuscripts and old prints. This work is divided into five chapters. In the introductory chapter are presented the purpose of this diploma thesis and critique of the used sources and literature. In this chapter is incorporated a short passage with general informations about museums and their libraries. The second chapter briefly attends to history of the museum in Strakonice. The third part of the thesis informs about history and development of the museum library in Strakonice. The fourth chapter analyses closely the manuscripts, incunabula and old prints. The collection of old prints was subjected to the linguistic, chronological and territorial description. Then follows analysis of printers and publishers, mentions of provenance of old prints (for example ex-librises, notes in the text, stamps etc.) and books allocations into thematic groups with specific examples of prints. The final chapter contains total summary and importance of this work. The list of sources and literature, the list of the abbreviations and the list of supplements (tables, graphs and photographs) are attached to the end of diploma thesis. A component of the diploma thesis is also the commentaries to the created lists and the extensive lists of the manuscripts and old prints.

V předkládané DP, určené k obhajobě na Katedře kulturologie FF UK, jsem se pokusil shrnout důležité aspekty ve vývoji jednoho druhu moderní hudby, který bývá nazýván industriálem, a jeho nejpřístupnější taneční odnoži tzv. Electronic Body Music (EBM). Domnívám se, že zvolený postup ukázal na mnoho zajímavých faktů, které vesměs akademická obec (dokonce i odborná muzikologická) nebere v potaz, přestože je třeba obracet zrak i k nejnovějším a různorodým formám kultury. 84 V DP jsem přiblížil stěžejní publikované práce k tématu, definoval pojem této hudby, představil její historii a význačná hudební alba, přičemž jako případovou studii jsem zvolil slavnou skupinu Front 242, jejíž další přiblížení je též náplní příloh. Důležitou součástí je ukázka, jak funguje EBM tvorba a komunita, v čem je specifická, jací jsou lidé, kteří takovou muziku poslouchají a jaké má tento hudební styl obsahy. Otázkou zůstává, jak by se s fenoménem EBM vypořádali odborní muzikologové, kteří se elektronickou hudbou zabývají na obecnější rovině: "Hudba a elektronika současně jako nový Gesamtkunstwerk nebo komerce a zastírání ne-umění anebo snaha o nové jako výraz doby?" ptá se například hudební sociolog Miloš Schnierer (1995:63). The History of Organization Sokol Vysehrad since its Beginning until 1938

This project is about the evolution of organization Sokol Vysehrad from its birth in 1890 to the beginning ofthe World War Two. It goes into details about the events which affected the beginnings of this association in the lead by the principalleaders and its activities during the next years. The project shows the influence of Sokol idea among the people and the financial, social and cultural situation in this part ofPrague. The text includes the course of events in the Czech Sokol Community and the important historie events in the Czech countries. The most important event was the World War One, the Formation ofthe Independent Czechoslovak Republic and the events leading up to the World War Two. Title of the project: The history oforganization Sokol Vysehrad from its beginning to the year 1938. Object of the project: The history oforganization Sokol Vysehrad from its beginning in 1890 to the year 1938 in the context of evolution of Sokol organization and the locality Praha- Vysehrad. Nastoluje základní elementy politického marketingu jako analýza trhu, segmentace trhu, určení vlastní pozice na trhu.Dostává se i k problematice politických strategií a konkrétně k volební strategii.Teoretická část končí oboznámením s nástrojmi politické propagace a s pojmem public relations.V případové studii se práce věnuje analýze předvolební kampane strany Smer - SD před volbami 2006 do NR SR.

The Issues of Literature for Girls in Literary Studies at Upper Elementary School

This thesis deals with literature for girls in literary education at the second level of primary school. The theoretical part concerns on girls' reading, the development, literary education and present-day reading of pubescent pupils. Based on theoretical findings from the Czech and world literature for girls and subsequent analysis of selected reading books destined for the second level of primary school in the practical part, representative selection of girls' reading and options which can be worked with those texts in lessons of literary education at the options which can be worked with those texts in lessons of literary education at the second level of primary school are suggested.
