Evaluation of developmental dyspraxia and effects of its therapy in children
Smržová, Jitka ; Kraus, Josef (advisor) ; Zounková, Irena (referee)
Diploma thesis "Evaluation of developmental dyspraxia and effects of its therapy in children" summarizes the knowledge of developmental dyspraxia or developmental coordination disorder (DCD) in the theoretical part. The practical part deals with the usage of new diagnostic method for identification of motor difficulties in children, Movement Assessment Battery for Children, second edition. The presence of motor difficulties in some children with ADHD and some children with neurofibromatosis type 1 was confirmed. The significant difference between motor skills in gymnasts and in children attending to all-round sport activities was not detected. No significant correlation between BMI and the level of motor skills in children was found. The evaluation of the effect of therapy confirmed that intervention is useful for children with developmental dyspraxia. The best improvement was found in activities which were specifically trained. Drawing as a criterion of school readiness
Mládková, Šárka ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Vyšínová, Pavlína (referee)
This thesis is dedicated to drawing as one of tasks of Jirasek's orientation test of school readiness. It is based on a research, which was executed in pre-school with children ready to enter first level of elementary school. I'm trying to expand Jirasek's view on school- ready children's drawing. In this research, kids were asked to draw a man. After the drawing I executed an interview with each kid focused on a term "man". I analyzed drawings and interviews. Such research helped me to clarify and expand view of rating drawings of preschool kids. It was helpful specially in regard to rating synthetic way of drawing and considering all elements of drawing not only the figure itself. Also I researched a relationship between speech and drawing in general and in regard to a common element of a term "man". I compared the results of rating both mediums and found there is a certain correlation. I found, that verbal expression of a kid can very well correspond with his drawing expression. It can also work as a certain additional factor when a kid cannot express his real level in drawing. It was proven, that drawing itself should not be considered as a sufficient tool for measuring of school readiness. It should be accompanied by the interview with the child. Key words Drawing; figure; man; school...

Luxury economics: Comparative study of conspicuous consumption among students of The University of Economics in Prague and Technical University of Liberec
Reichelt, Patrik ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee)
The aim of this thesis is connect to BA František Staněk (who analysed conspicuous consumption on students at The University of Economics in Prague) and verifying hypotheses on students of Technical University of Liberec. Thesis is extended to analysis of the impact of technical education. Main conclusions of this thesis were obtained by statistical and regression analysis of data from a survey. Each brand of consumer electronics are perceived very differently in terms of social status which they express. There is a strong relationship between price of a product and and its signaling value. Students of technical disciplines show a dependency between product functionality and its ability to indicate social status. Others have no correlation.

Geophysical and remote sensing methodologies applied to the analysis of regolith and geology in Burkina Faso, West Africa
Metelka, Václav ; Ježek, Josef (advisor) ; Miller, John (referee) ; Martelet, Guillaume (referee) ; de Kemp, Eric (referee)
The oldest parts of continents, so-called cratons, are the focus of worldwide research not only because they represent primary constraints for our understanding of the early evolution of the Earth, but also because of their significant mineral potential. This work contributes to the understanding of the geological and geomorphological evolution of the West African Craton, by an integrated analysis of airborne geophysical and satellite remote sensing data constrained by field structural, lithological, geophysical, and geomorphological observations acquired around Houndé, Boromo and Banfora greenstone belts and associated granitoid domains in western Burkina Faso. The results of this integration suggest that the granitoid domains of western Burkina Faso are formed by numerous small- to medium-sized plutons, and the magnetic data provided a better definition of the actual pluton shapes. Airborne gamma ray spectrometry data aided in the mapping process in areas with less regolith cover. Three deformation events (D1-D3) can be distinguished in western Burkina Faso. A megacrystic tholeiitic basalt unit allowed us to establish stratigraphic correlations between the two belts and propose a crustal scale anticline (D1). The D1 penetrative structures, resulting from an E-W to WNW-oriented compression are...

Sociální vztahy a synchronizace ve stádech přežvýkavců - vliv na pastevní chování
Šárová, Radka ; Špinka, Marek (advisor) ; Červený, Jaroslav (referee) ; Nekovářová, Tereza (referee)
This thesis addresses the relationships between beef cattle (Bos taurus) group behaviour on pasture, social dominance and individual characteristics such as body weight and age. The thesis is based on three studies performed in a herd of female beef cattle. In the first two studies, GPS collars were used as the main data-collection method, while the third study relied on an extensive dataset of cow dominance relationships. The first study focused on activity synchronization. We assessed whether cows similar to each other in body weight or in reproductive status were more synchronized and whether the timing of activity switches was determined by specific leading animals. We found that the body weight difference in a dyad of animals had a negative influence on their mutual synchronization. There were no leading animal initiating switches in activity. The second study focused on the role of dominant animals in group movements of the herd. There were positive correlations between dominance status of an individual and several measures of leadership during movements, namely the position of the animal at the front of the herd, more direct and shorter trajectories and higher alignment with nearest neighbours and with the whole herd. These results show that herd movements on pasture behaviour were...

Elemental and isotopic study of differentiated meteorites and implications for the origin and evolution of their parent bodies
Halodová, Patricie ; Košler, Jan (advisor) ; Řanda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kanický, Viktor (referee)
ELEMENTAL AND ISOTOPIC STUDY OF DIFFERENTIATED METEORITES AND IMPLICATIONS FOR THE ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION OF THEIR PARENT BODIES Iron meteorites are differentiated meteorites composed largely of Fe-Ni alloys. The metallic phase of many iron meteorites shows a texture called the Widmanstätten pattern, which develops as a two-phase intergrowth of kamacite (α-bcc, ferrite) and taenite (γ-fcc, austenite), and forms by nucleation and growth of kamacite from taenite during slow cooling of the parent body. Selected iron meteorites - octahedrites of different structural and chemical groups (Canyon Diablo, Toluca, Bohumilitz, Horh Uul, Alt Biela, Nelson County, Gibeon and Joe Wright Mountain) were studied with intention to evaluate the scale and extent of Fe isotopic heterogeneities in iron meteorites and to find the possible link between the isotopic variations and thermal histories of the respective meteorite parent bodies. The Fe isotopic compositions of kamacite and taenite in the studied meteorites, obtained by three independent analytical techniques with different spatial resolution capabilities (laser ablation and solution MC ICP-MS and SIMS) show significant variations of up to ~4.5‰ in δ56 Fe. The taenite is isotopically heavier compared to kamacite in all studied meteorites. There is no correlation...

Antipredatory behaviour, sexual selection and reproductive success in domestic sparrow (Passer domesticus).
Klvaňová, Alena ; Exnerová, Alice (advisor) ; Mlíkovský, Jiří (referee) ; Procházka, Petr (referee)
Anti-predator behaviour, sexual selection and reproductive success in the House Sparrow Passer domesticus Alena Klvaňová Summary of the thesis Individual components of parental care are disproportionally distributed among the parents in the House Sparrow. While the female broods the nestlings more often and feeds them more frequently, the male defends the nest more intensely. In an experimental study the parents did not adjust their nest defence intensity to behaviour of their partners, nor to brood parameters. Only males tended to defend the sooner broods more intensely, which is in concordance with the "brood value hypothesis". Male contribution to nestling feeding affected their body mass. Male nest defence intensity increased with the size of their melanin ornament. Thus, we assume that the ornament could signal male investment in this component of parental care, while it does not correlate with feeding frequency and time spent by incubation. This output is probably caused by pleiotropic effect of genes regulating melanogenesis, affecting e. g. testosterone plasma level, which is associated with increased agression and lower intensity of other components of parental care as nestling provisioning or incubation. We have also aked the question whether the anti-predator strategy in House Sparrow is stable...
