Nations and terrorisms in speeches by V.V. Putin and G.W. Bush
Dyurych, Pavlo ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Kandert, Josef (referee)
In this cross-national case study the author, as a former appreciator of Vladimir Putin's policy toward Chechnya, has tried to interpret the war on terrorism as a constructed entity by political leaders in crisis situations. Being inspired by the structural analysis of mythology he tries to identify the similarities and differences in the narratives about terrorism constructed by Vladimir Putin and G.W. Bush. The author argues that the both situations - in Russia in September 1999 and in USA after 11.9.2001 - could be regarded as crisis situations, and that is why the similarities could be found in the narratives about terrorism, articulated by both political leaders. In the first part of this paper, the author has shown the historical context of crisis in both countries. The second and the third part of the work is a qualitative content analysis of Bush's and Putin's speeches related to terrorism. The author has analytically divided speeches into two major blocks: "before" (speeches produced by the leaders in the short period after the crisis) and "after" (speeches produced by the leaders during their military campaigns on terror). The author argues that despite the minor mutations in the narrative, the structure of the myth was not affected. The main achievement of this case study is the finding that the...

I am he who is here for the people
Šupková, Danuše
This paper deals with self-concept of professionals of assisting and charitable careers who are working in extreme life conditions. The main empirical material consists of twenty - even autobiographical interviews with these people concerned. To analyse the empirical material the authoress uses instruments of narrative psychology. In theoretical part she tries to explain the possibilities of that narrative approach towards working with the autobiographical interviews. At the same time she explains content similarities in the testimonies of the respondents, existentialist philosophical ideas and psychology of Viktor Frankl and Erich Fromm. The description of the respondents' self-concept is based on qualitative analysis of the autobiographical interviews and on written notices accompanying the interviews using narrative approach. Key words: self-concept, extreme life conditions, autobiographical interview, narrative approach, meaning of life Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Polymeric nanofibrous scaffolds reinforced with diamond and ceramic nanoparticles for bone tissue engineering
Bačáková, Lucie ; Pařízek, Martin ; Staňková, Ľubica ; Novotná, Katarína ; Douglas, T.E.L. ; Brady, M. A. ; Kromka, Alexander ; Potocký, Štěpán ; Stránská, D.
Three types of nanofibrous scaffolds were prepared by electrospining: (1) poly(lactide-co-glycoside) (PLGA) scaffolds reinforced with 23 wt.% of diamond nanoparticles (DNPs), (2) poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) scaffolds with DNPs in concentration ranging from from 0.4 wt.% to 12.3 wt.%, and (3) PLLA scaffolds with 5 wt.% or 15 wt.% of hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles. The diameter of the nanofibers ranged between 160 and 729 nm. The nanofibers with nanoparticles were thicker and the void spaces among them were smaller. Mechanical properties of the nanoparticle-loaded scaffolds were better, as demonstrated by a rupture test in scaffolds with DNPs and by a creep behavior test in scaffolds with HAp. On PLGA scaffolds with DNPs, the human osteoblast-like MG-63 cells adhered in similar numbers and grew with similar kinetics as on pure PLGA scaffolds. Human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells grew faster and reached higher population densities on PLGA-DNP scaffolds. However, on PLLA-based scaffolds, the activity of mitochondrial enzymes and concentration of osteocalcin in MG-63 cells decreased with increasing DNP concentration. On the other hand, the metabolic activity of MG-63 cells and content of osteocalcin in these cells were positively correlated with the HAp concentration in PLLA scaffolds. Thus, PLGA nanofibers with 23 wt% of DNPs and PLLA nanofibers with 5 and particularly 15 wt.% of HAp seem to be promising for bone tissue engineering.

"There was a time when I believed you loved me…" A Commented Translation of Selected Letters of August Strindberg
Herčíková, Jitka ; Humpál, Martin (advisor) ; Hartlová, Dagmar (referee)
The goal of this Master's Thesis is to bring out the literary aspects of August Strindberg's correspondence, with an emphasis on the love letters to his first and third wives, Siri von Essen and Harriet Bosse. A complete translation of Strindberg's letters into Czech is still lacking, even though this is, by volume, the greatest part of his work. A translation of his correspondence might alleviate his image as a spiteful misogynist in the Czech literary sciences, and above all may yield a new impulse to interpret Strindberg's dramas and may even inspire their more frequent presence on the Czech stage. In the first, theoretical part of this work, the literary nature of the love letter is described, along with the possibility of reading it as an epistolary novel; the similarity of Strindberg's expressive style to that of mediaeval troubadours is pointed out. In the second part, select passages of the correspondence are introduced with an exegetic commentary.

Digital Marketing Strategies - Combination of Digital Media Channels
Turazová, Barbora ; Klimeš, David (advisor) ; Huněk, Filip (referee)
The diploma thesis "Digital Marketing Strategies - Combination of Digital Media Channels" examines how the three telecom operators dominating the Czech market - T-Mobile Czech Republic, O2 Czech Republic and Vodafone Czech Republic - use the digital media channels within the communication with the customers. More specifically, it identifies and describes which channels do the companies involve into their marketing communication, how do they use them and why they have integrated them into the communication strategy. It also examines how the companies interconnect these digital media channels and how the channels can be combined to form an effective digital media strategy. By using the method of case study the companies ' digital marketing activities were examined. It was found that each company uses for its marketing communication the similar set of digital media channels, but the usage is different across the companies studied. Based on these findings I have identified three specific strategies - Diversified Content Strategy, Interactive Channel Strategy and Standardized Content Strategy. Each of the strategies has its advantages and disadvantages, which have been described and the strategies were compared. The findings also indicate that it is better to study the digital media channels as a whole,...

Rationalisation process of the people's enviroment. Public education in novels of education of the beginning of the 19th century.
Matiášová, Barbora ; Tinková, Daniela (advisor) ; Randák, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis' goal is to analyse the so-called Novels of Education which were created or translated on the beginning of the 19th century. Through these fetching stories the authors' aim was to enlighten the reader - rather uneducated villagers, peasants. The thesis briefly introduces several writings and their authors, then analysis what, in these books, is being presented as right and "wise". The contents focus on the distorted appreciation of time and freedom which, according to the Anthony Giddens' and Benedict Anderson's concepts, are described as an abstract category that is detached from the real world situations. Furthermore, due consideration is devoted to the "entrepreneurs" - those who, according to the Novels of Education and the prompts of the Enlightement thinkers, were supposed to educate those who lived in their surroundings. Finally, the formal aspect of the thesis is aimed on the means which were used by the authors to maintain the liability of their work.

Legal and economic aspects of termination
Pelantová, Marie ; Vondráček, Jan (advisor) ; Mikulová, Magdalena (referee)
This thesis focuses on the institute termination of employment from the legal and economic point of view. From a legal perspective, it is mainly about the presentation of the most common ways of termination of employment, including acquainting the reader with a steady legal interpretation. From a microeconomic point of view, the termination of employment relates to the consequences for employers and employees and from a macroeconomic perspective, with consequences for the whole society. This is followed by a practical part which connects the foregoing and the current example of OKD Inc., which employs nearly 10 thousand employees and currently finds itself in serious financial difficulties, the state estimates the costs associated with the mass redundancies at different alternatives. These variants are bankruptcy or reorganization provided financial assistance to the state. At the conclusion of the two calculations are compared and outlines a list of partial measures to mitigate the effects of similar events in the future.

German and Czech in language policy conflict. A comparative analysis of discourse on the Badeni language decree of 1897
Syrovátková, Adéla ; Vachková, Marie (advisor) ; Povejšil, Jaromír (referee) ; Heinemann, Margot (referee)
This dissertation employs the principles of linguistic discourse analysis. Discourse as a social praxis is examined in an historical context. The thesis falls in the domain of external language evolution and is based particularly on the erudition of historical sociolinguistics and pragmatics. The language behavior of Germans and Czechs is documented and comparatively analyzed against the backdrop of a governmental language policy decree which caused a political crisis in Bohemia in 1897. The research draws upon the persuasive political discourse in the daily press from both nationally-minded Germans and Czechs. The whole of the research is the examination of three specific types of content distilled thereof: autostereotypes, heterostereotypes, and perspectives on the "Bohemia issue". Catchwords contained therein are identified and assessed from a perspective of semasiological and onomaseological competition. Further examinations are conducted based upon argumentation strategies through which suggested topoi patterns are analyzed to elucidate their group specification and function, a key aspect of which is the semantic analysis of the values and norms of involved parties (the principles of New Rhetoric). The supporting matter is further subjected to analysis of the linguistic devices used in the expression...

Personality Protection and Camera Systems
Široký, Oldřich ; Cvik, Eva Daniela (advisor) ; Pavla, Pavla (referee)
The thesis deals with the protection of individual integrity and camera systems, through the lens of valid and effective law regulation. The content of this work is formulation of theoretical basis, an analysis of relevant laws governing the issue of individual integrity protection of natural persons (especially their privacy) and camera systems, specifically for each type of camera system: the camera system with recording, camera system without recording, comparison of both types of camera systems and an account of legal instruments available for protection of individual integrity of each person, whose universal individual integrity rights were violated due to the operation of a camera system (regardless of it's type). The theoretical basis is followed by the main body of work, which explores researching camera system usage within a specific public authority agency. The operation of camera system is subjected to critical legal analysis, where particular aspects of a specific public authority subject's practice is evaluated as part of the findings of the thesis and qualified as compliant or non-compliant with the law. At the end of the work, the author formulates specific recommendations to the public authority agency, aiming to improve the approach to operating a camera system from the legal point of view.
