Syrovátková, Adéla ; Vachková, Marie (advisor) ; Povejšil, Jaromír (referee) ; Heinemann, Margot (referee)
This dissertation employs the principles of linguistic discourse analysis. Discourse as a social praxis is examined in an historical context. The thesis falls in the domain of external language evolution and is based particularly on the erudition of historical sociolinguistics and pragmatics. The language behavior of Germans and Czechs is documented and comparatively analyzed against the backdrop of a governmental language policy decree which caused a political crisis in Bohemia in 1897. The research draws upon the persuasive political discourse in the daily press from both nationally-minded Germans and Czechs. The whole of the research is the examination of three specific types of content distilled thereof: autostereotypes, heterostereotypes, and perspectives on the "Bohemia issue". Catchwords contained therein are identified and assessed from a perspective of semasiological and onomaseological competition. Further examinations are conducted based upon argumentation strategies through which suggested topoi patterns are analyzed to elucidate their group specification and function, a key aspect of which is the semantic analysis of the values and norms of involved parties (the principles of New Rhetoric). The supporting matter is further subjected to analysis of the linguistic devices used in the expression...

Novotná, Tereza ; Rakušanová, Marie (advisor) ; Pravdová, Anna (referee)
Arnošt Hofbauer (1869 - 1944) The theme of this Bachelor thesis comes from my interest in art from the year 1900. The most famous solitaires were many times spoken of recantly so I chose a less known artist, but not less interesting one who was concerned with the cultural events as the establishment of SVU Mánes, the journal Volné Směry and realisation of the exhibition of Auguste Rodin in Prague in 1902. In individual parts I focused on diferent forms of his work, from works for the journal Volné Směry and posters for the first exhibitions of SVU Mánes, over another poster works, painting works and works in architecture to smaller graphic works and drawings. In another part I wrote about his life and his correspondence. I tried to confront his works with another display of artists who lived in the same time in Czech and in Europe and who were of various generations. In this, I tried to get file his work according to the period context. This thesis does not attempt to compile his entire art production but tries to offer a point of view of his art production, whose most progessive work was around 1900.

Bachelor thesis 'Multiculturalism in England' deals with the phenomenon, which has been a product of modern society since the second half of the nineteenth century. The politics of multiculturalism is linked to England because of the large waves of immigration after World War II. These waves affected England, primarily from the cultural point. Lowe, with whom we learn about the arrival of immigrants to England and about the politics that accompanied with the arrival of immigrants. Then is introduced the current situation, which leads to a discussion of national identity.
