Cultural property in armed conflicts: Typical motivations causing their destruction
Pelikánová, Eva ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bruner, Tomáš (referee)
In recent years protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts has become largely mentioned issue. Despite broad international legal codification of principles to prevent destruction of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts, destruction of cultural property obviously occurs. Within discussion on their protection, attention is not so paid to the values of cultural property representing for interested actors not merely in the event of armed conflicts. Attention is not much paid also to the motivations leading actors to destroy cultural property in the event of armed conflicts. The thesis is based on current state of knowledge both in academic or international law and it focuses on exploring motivations leading actors to destroy cultural property in the event of armed conflicts. To answer the research question: "What motivators are leading actors to actively destroy cultural monuments in armed conflicts?" is proceeded from analysis of literature that expounds the motivations for the destruction of cultural property in the event of armed conflicts. These motivations will be understood as theoretical explanations of destruction for the purposes of the work, and on the basis of five case studies, their validity will be checked. The subsequent synthesis of the conclusions of...

Tvrz, Michal ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Maláková, Kateřina (referee)
Regional differentiation of mortality from the most important diseases of the circulatory system in Czechia Abstract The objective of this thesis is to describe and evaluate, for Czechia at both the national and regional level and in the time frame of 1997-2017, the main developmental trends in male and female mortality from the diseases of the circulatory system as a whole and its most important individual diagnoses. The results of the analysis confirmed that the diseases of the circulatory system were the most common cause of death for men and women both at the national and regional levels throughout the period under review. Nevertheless, there was a significant reduction of mortality rates for the diseases in question in both sexes, especially in the case of ischaemic heart diseases, cerebrovascular diseases and atherosclerosis. In contrast, mortality from hypertensive diseases and other forms of heart disease increased in both sexes. Mortality from cardiovascular diseases in districts largely followed the trends from the national level. For the selected causes of death, the patterns of the regional distribution of the values of the standardized mortality rates were (during the observed years) largely similar for both sexes. Overall, mortality rate for the group of cardiovascular diseases decreased in...

Mrštinová, Andrea ; Emler, David (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
The goal of my bachelor thesis "Expulsion of German residents from Poprad after 1944 with the emphasis on exemptions from the expulsion of German residents" is is to provide a view of the circumstances of the displacement of the German population from Poprad and thus to understand the regional history of Poprad in Slovakia. The bachelor thesis is divided into four parts. In the first part I present the geographical and content definition of the theme, like the background in which the German residents lived until 1945. In the second part, I focus on securing the German population in the camps in Poprad, while the subchapter is devoted to the removal of Germans from Poprad itself. In the third part, with using archival documents and literature, I divide German residents into categories of who have been an exempt from expulsion for various reasons, and I describe these reasons. In the fourth part, following the third chapter, I create a typology and briefly summarize the research.
Typology of North Korea's Behavior: Analysis of the relations between the US and DPRK
Štroblová, Radka ; Hornát, Jan (advisor) ; Sehnálková, Jana (referee)
Since the accession of Donald J. Trump to the presidency, there have been many significant events that have affected the United States' relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea - from testing North Korean nuclear weapons, to verbal insults to both officials, to a historical meeting of the leaders of both Korean states in the demilitarized zone, a joint performance by South Korean and North Korean athletes at the Pyongyang Winter Olympics, to the historic Singapore Summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un. However, the second meeting of both representatives in Hanoi ended prematurely - without signing the planned joint statement. Relations between the United States of America and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are constantly developing. The main theme of the talks in the past was the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula to ensure lasting peace and stability for the region. The North Korean nuclear program and efforts to reduce it have thus become a major issue in multilateral negotiations, with the Republic of Korea, China, Russia and Japan participating in addition to the United States and North Korea. North Korea, however, often sabotaged the talks and the period of cooperation was interrupted by provocations and hostile...

Towards a Typology of Czech Traditional Song and Music
Tyllner, Lubomír
This article therefore aims at a complex analysis of traditional music and its typology. On the basis of musical analysis, the im is to establish a typology of the Czech traditional folk song and music, to delineate historical, regional and or national features of Czech traditional music and thus help to incorporate it into a broader European musical and cultural context.
Introduction: Why Typology?
Tyllner, Lubomír
The national identity issue is constantly topical even in times of strong globalization and acculturation tendencies. Music, especially its most fundamental layer - traditional music, also helps to define national identity. Therefore, determining the basic types of Czech folk music is one of the major tasks of ethnomusicological research.
