Czech Social Science Data Archive

The Czech Social Science Data Archive (CSDA) is a national social science data centre in the Czech Republic which acquires, processes and archives datasets from Czech and international social research and makes these data publicly available for research and training purposes. CSDA also participates in networks of transnational data access, facilitates Czech participation in international comparative surveys, and promotes secondary data analysis in social science research. CSDA is the Czech node within the pan-European distributed research infrastructure ‘Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives’ (CESSDA) and is also the CESSDA Service Provider in the Czech Republic. National grey literature cooperation model

The National Library of Technology (NTK) has a long tradition of collecting grey literature on the national level. NTK became SIGLE system partner in the 1980s and from 2008 it has been the coordinator of the National Repository of Grey Literature (NRGL). NTK has created a grey literature partnership network in the Czech Republic. Over 130 institutions dedicated to research, science, education, culture etc. participate in this network and provide grey literature to the NRGL. NTK manages cooperation among these institutions and NRGL, provides methodology and standards, and deals with the legal aspects of repository management and collecting grey literature. We have created a model of the main parties involved in collecting and publishing grey literature in order to gain a better insight in the structure, and to enhance further cooperation. We defined the role of partners, type of participants, services, and tools used for grey literature publishing. In our poster, we would like to present the Czech national model as an inspiration for institutions in other countries.

How to divide the responsibility for a repository between employer and employee

Each research institution that operates a repository has to make a decision whether to allow all its employees to upload their own work or whether to create a special organizational unit that will review and approve each file shared via repository. This dilemma is accompanied with another important decision that an institution needs to make. Should the institution let its employees to distribute their works to whichever recipient they deem appropriate, or should it apply a managing approach to publication activities? The post will outline legal challenges of both approaches. The ultimate objective is to give practical recommendations on how to divide liability for data in repository between the employee and employer.

OA to scientifi c publications and research data in Horizon 2020

During presentation titled “OA to scientific publications and research data in Horizon 2020” reasons for introducing obligation on OA to scientifi c information in Horizon 2020 will be presented together with description of steps on how to fulfill the said obligation. Speaker will also talk about relevant legal aspects of OA as well as OA news and updates as seen from the speaker´s perspective acting as national contact point for legal aspects of Horizon 2020 and national point of reference for scientific information.

LIBER 44th Annual Conference: Towards Open Science

Na konferenci LIBER konané ve dnech 24. – 26. 6. 2015 v budově Imperial Colledge v Londýně účastnice této služební cesty vyslechla přednášky zejména z tematického okruhu Open Acces, Open Data a Open Science, metody zpřístupnění informací pro vědeckou a akademickou komunitu a účastnila se jednání jak v rámci četných workshopů, tak i práce a hlasování v plénu.

Digital Library 2015

Konference Digital Library poskytla svým účastníkům širokou možnost konfrontace s trendy a posledními informacemi k tématu digitálních knihoven, digitalizace, dlouhodobého uložení a efektivního zpřístupnění digitálního obsahu. Zazněly i příspěvky týkající se ochrany a uložení historických fondů. Program byl zahájen dvěma tematickými workshopy, setkání členů konsorcia SciFinder a prezentace Fedora a Islandora. Součástí akce byla prezentace firem. Na konferenci byl i dostatečný časový prostor pro osobní setkání s jednotlivými účastníky, přednášejícími a zástupci vystavujících firem.

Digital Library Conference 2014

Témata konference byla do určité míry relevantní pro aktivity NTK, zejména prezentace zástupců vědeckých knihoven a knihoven se zaměřením na technické a přírodní vědy. Naopak některé prezentace byly přínosné pro knihovny poskytující služby pro společenské a humanitní vědy a knihovny s archivní povinností. Nejvíce relevantní informace z konference o vzorcích chování uživatelů online zdrojů a o požadavcích Horizon 2020 byly přeneseny do aktivit současných týmů pro služby a komunikaci knihovny. NTK se musí i nadále věnovat naplňování své mise směrem k rozvoji repozitářů a podpory open accessu.
