Notový editor
Kopenec, Lukáš ; Bednárek, David (advisor) ; Obdržálek, David (referee)
The goal of this work was to design and implement a WYSIWYG musical notation editor that would solve some of the problems that the musicians encounter in their practice and would try to eliminate several imperfections of existing products. The principal motivation is the author's experience from the musical schools. The teachers own large amounts of printed scores that they need to distribute to their students and to the accompanying musicians which is very costly (paper, toner) and leads to disorganization of the ownership, number and placement of the scores. This work tries to provide the schools with a cheap platform for distribution and organization of their notation materials. A secondary motivation is the fact that the conception of existing notation editors has remained unchanged during the last two decades and offers only a limited control of the overall content of the musical projects. The proposed editor allows the user to create richer and more complex scores (e.g. songbooks or musical schoolbooks). It also provides the possibility to insert additional content (such as mp3 recordings or accompanying texts) directly into the created project.

Kovařík, František ; Hnětynka, Petr (advisor) ; Yaghob, Jakub (referee)
Title: Supporting multiplatform applications with YA-RPC Author: František Kovařík Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor: RNDr. Petr Hnětynka, Ph.D. Supervisor's e-mail address: hnetynka@d3s.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: Over the last three decades, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) has become a popular inter-computer and inter-process communication paradigm widely used by a variety of interconnected computer systems. Even though a number of RPC protocols and implementations evolved over those years, no single system offers a significant set of features, while providing an easy-to-use application programming interface. In this thesis, we present Yet Another Remote Procedure Call - YaRpc, a specification of a flexible and programmer friendly middleware that offers advanced features such as pluggable transports and protocols, callbacks, and configurable method dispatch. Additionally, we define YaRpc Native Protocol (YNP), a new light-weight high-performance RPC protocol with a rich set of features. We provide a native implementation of both YaRpc middleware and YNP protocol for Java and .NET Framework, and compare its usability with Java RMI, .NET Remoting and SOAP web services. Keywords: YaRpc, remote procedure call, distributed system

The Legal Protection of Databases
Kohutová, Radka ; Holcová, Irena (advisor) ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee)
What is the value of information? This is the crucial question that arises in relation to the legal protection of databases. The rise of new media created a brand new world that we labelled the information society in which the information is one of the most valuable assets. The power of digitalization came hand in hand with this rapid transformation and has offered us an almost indefinite amount of storage space and permitted us the dramatic increase of speed for the transfer of data and information, while, consequently making violation and infringing of intellectual property rights simpler than ever before. The form of a database has been transformed and has become increasingly important as a way of organizing data and information in the age of information society. This State Doctoral Thesis called The Legal Protection of Databases aims to present the comparative analysis of database protection in three countries-namely the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America. The choice of countries allows covering different approaches to the legal protection of databases of two biggest competitors on the world database market-the United States of America and the EU, and to present the aspects of copyrights and sui generis protection....

Nanomaterials can be constructed either by a top-down approach when the desired structure is produced in an already existing material or by a bottom-up approach when the required configuration is made by self-assembly of building blocks using various physicochemical interactions. Polymers and copolymers represent an ideal system for engineering of self-assembled nanomaterials since they offer a wide range of combinations of building materials that may serve for this purpose. The aims of...

Analytical evaluation of biologically active compounds using liquid chromatography.
Zerzaňová, Anna ; Klimeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Blešová, Marie (referee) ; Nobilis, Milan (referee)
Disertační práce Summary 133 This dissertation thesis is focused on the analytical evaluation of biologically active compounds with the aid of High Performance Liquid Chromatography, especially with selective and sensitive detection performed by mass and coulometric detector. In the theoretical part of this dissertation thesis, there is attention paid to the importance and status of mass spectrometry as a tool of the modern analytical method of the detection. In this dissertation thesis, there is also a view of electrochemical methods and applications, focusing on coulometric measurements in flow systems. The results of the experimental work have been compiled and presented in three articles published in scientific impact journals. The list of reached results is following: The first article deals with a comparison of four chromatographic columns for their use in bioanalytical studies. Numerous HPLC columns with different bonded stationary phases are nowadays available, and producers continue to expand the range of columns they offer. Four real mixtures of biologically active compounds were used for the testing. Every mixture contained a parent active compound, its real metabolites and proper internal standard. Measurements were performed on two monolithic and two particle-packed columns with quite new...

An attempt to classify the literary motif of a double character
Sekal, Ondřej ; Stromšík, Jiří (referee) ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor)
This study aims at working out a consistent typology that might be applied on the literary motif of a double in its entire variety, i. e. from simple comedies with alike brothers and sisters to the stories, the themes of which are the split within the human psyche, the relation of man to his mirror, or painted, image, and the like. It is divided into two basic parts. In the first part, after the reader has been briefly informed of the concept and articulation of this motif by some earlier writers (O. Fischer, E. Frenzel), the author offers his own articulation: the core of the double-motif is a situation in which identities or important properties of a certain subject are mutually exchanged. While the above mentioned earlier writers in their articulation accentuate rather the form of the double-ness, for instance the double-ness based on kindred rather than the double-ness acquired e.g. through a spell, this work dwells on the intention of the double-ness, for example of a double-ness, acquired in whatever way, purposed to cheat or play a game. The proposed typology the starting point of which is basically the semiological concept of sign, works with a whole range of new, or newly used terms, and strives to build up a complex and internally coherent system. The respective terms are exemplified by concrete...

Accumulation and biotransformation of nitramines in plant tissue
Šídlová, Petra ; Skálová, Lenka (advisor) ; Szotáková, Barbora (referee)
Explosives are toxic, recalcitrant to degradation and contaminate large areas of land and ground water. Remediation of these xenobiotics is difficult and an enormous logistical task. Phytoremediation is a technique that offers an environment friendly, low-cost alternative to current remediation techniques. However this approach is hindered by the low metabolic abilities of plants towards these xenobiotic compounds and the phytotoxicity of these compounds. The fate of the explosives RDX (hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine) and HMX (octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine) on exposure to plant was investigated in hydroponic system of sunflower (Heliantus annuus L.) and hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) approximately for more than 10 days. Exposure levels were: 10mg/l and 50mg/l RDX, respectively HMX for sunflower; 25mg/l and 50mg/l RDX , 5mg/l and 50mg/l HMX for hemp. Their ecotoxicites were characterized by the test based on the inhibition of elongation of primary roots 3days-old mustard and hemp seedlings. Extracts of plants were analyzed by HPLC (liquid chromatography). These study showed that RDX and HMX was taken up by both plant species. The accumulation of these nitramines was observed more in the roots than in the aerial parts of the plants, except for RDX in hemp, where the...
