Kubová, Milada ; Šaldová, Pavlína (referee) ; Dušková, Libuše (advisor)
The aim of this study is to examine changing usage in Modern English as reflected in R.W. Burchfield's revised 3rd edition of H.W. Fowler's Dictionary of Modern English Usage. The study first provides an historical overview of attitudes toward English usage and examines its treatment in contemporary usage books. The third edition of A Dictionary of Modern English Usage is then compared with earlier editions to show what areas of language usage are represented in each edition and to detect any changes in representation. The subsequent analysis is based on comparison of entries from the revised 3rd edition with entries from earlier editions. Changes in usage are demonstrated on three general entries that deal with general areas of grammar, namely complex prepositions, split infinitive and fused participle, and on twenty individual entries that reflect changes in the surface structure, specifically changes in prepositions in the construction of the type "noun/verb/adjective + preposition" and changes in the realization of verb complementation. The aim of the study is to determine areas of changing usage and consider tendencies with respect to the language system.

Preventively educational proceeding as an integral part of a complex assurance of a fire protection
LEDVINOVÁ, Kateřina
The topic concerned - preventive educational activity as an inseparable part of comprehensive fire protection - deals with education of citizens, particularly children. The thesis is based on the fact that readiness of citizens for danger, emergency situations and their management is a public interest issue. The role of citizens and their involvement improve in contemporary society. Various natural disasters, mass catastrophes connected with endangered lives, fires of cars and large fires caused by dry weather make us all seek information that will make management of extraordinary situations easier. The historical description provides the development of education and preparation for safety threats and risks in the Czech environment since the second half of the 19th century until the present time. The main problem of today is growing passivity of the general public who consider the timely arrival of fire brigades a matter of fact. Fires then catch people unawares in situations that may arise. The latter part of the thesis deals with the present state of the issue in the Czech Republic. In order to ascertain current situation I made a survey, which served as a basis for my further work. The positive aspect was that if someone did not know the answer to the questions, he or she were inspired to search and get the relevant information, as he or she were surprised by their (lack of) knowledge in the area of fire protection. At least half of the respondents did so, which I consider a success. It shows that the interest of the public and youth in the possibility of obtaining education and preparation for emergency situations is inspired by the realization of potential threats and subsequent detection and designation of imperfections in their own knowledge and skills

Websites have a significant impact on the competitiveness of organizations. Therefore it is necessary to deal with aspects that affect their success. At least it is worth to detect weaknesses which can be repaired with minimal effort and which baffle effective use of the site. It is possible to use quite a number of audit methods and tools but the global approach to this issue is missing. The aim of this thesis is to create audit methodology and its implementation into the online tool, to allow automatic audit performance. I first describe aspects of success of a website such as search engine optimization, accessibility, usability, information architecture and information value. Then I analyzed the methods and tools for webpages audit and explored the possibilities of their system integration. This enabled me to design the optimal process of audit and realize the tool which is the main output of the thesis and is enclosed on the CD. The benefit of this tool lies primarily in the comprehensive conception which focuses not only on a certain area, but tries to evaluate all possible facts within a single analysis. The advantage of the tool is its mass utilization. It allows detection of possible errors and solutions proposition with minimal costs and without the need of special knowledge. The tool contains several unique algorithms that check some aspects of sites and eliminate manual verification.

Its agent is spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and its most eminent vector in Europe is the tick Ixodes ricinus. In the theoretical part of my thesis I decribed the basic characteristics of the genus Borrelia, its antigenic structure, epidemology and pathogenesis, disease vectors, clinical sypmtoms of the infection and possibilities of laboratory diagnostics. My thesis is aimed at comparison of dignostics of Lyme disease by using serological method ELISA and using method PCR. It was used 113 anonymized samples of patients for analyse. The samples were examined for the presence of the antibody against Borrelia in classes IgG and IgM and by using real-time PCR method they were examined for the presence of DNA pathogenic Borrelia. The experimental part of the thesis describes realization of the methods, which we have used for diagnostics of Lyme disease. In the results part is claimed that we noticed only one positive result within detection of Borrelia DNA (total positivity 0,88%). The...
