Reinbergr, Tomáš ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor)
European Union has always played an important role at world sugar market. The world's biggest sugar importer became one of the biggest exporters after World War II, because of politics of self-sufficiency. In 2006, EU Sugar Reform started as a result of lost WTO pannel and consequent unsustainable situation. This thesis surveys EU's position at world sugar market before the reform, during it and what's the most important, it forecasts EU's position when the reform is completed.

Jovičić, Elena ; Sato, Alexej (advisor) ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (referee) ; Čajka, Peter (referee)
The necessity for a more adequate regulation of global trade relations (including support for the liberalization and development of international trade), in the context of the deepening globalization processes, requires a greater level of involvement of international economic organizations and more effective implementation of their activities. The primary purpose of the dissertation is to determine whether and how the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group have influenced the development of international trading system. The results of this thesis show that international organizations (primarily WTO and UNCTAD) during various stages of its development have been significantly affecting international trade growth mainly through the implementation of specific activities and measures related to a series of agreements and decisions. However, international organizations have had a divergent impact on international trade. The effectiveness of the implementation of specific activities and programs were depending on the political and economic situation of member countries, as well as the governments´ readiness and willingness to implement these measures. On the other hand, the effectiveness of realization of specific activities have been affected by either the internal weaknesses of the organizations, or the insufficient level of cooperation and coordination in the implementation of joint programs and measures aimed at international trade development.

Autobiographical elements in animated films of Czech female directors
Děcká, Eliška ; Hanáková, Petra (advisor) ; Laučíková, Ivana (referee)
This MA thesis analyses the use of autobiographical elements in animated films of contemporary female directors. The thesis employs data obtained from in-depth interviews with eight individual directors. As the main methodological tool for conducting these I used oral history. These data were further combined with the gender-specific textual analysis and interpretation of their films, regarding the main principles of animations studies. The goal was to reach a conclusion whether there is any inclination towards the use of autobiographical elements in animated films of Czech female directors. The thesis also contemplates the potential of animation studies in general and its effective use in connection with other academic disciplines. This approach leads towards obtaining findings, outreaching the mere sphere of animation and that may be enriching in the context of political-economic transformation after 1989 in Czechoslovakia/Czech Republic, for example. Keywords: animated film, autobiography, animation studies, gender, political-economic transformation after 1989.

Depicting colonial and post-colonial attitudes to imperialism in film: A passage to India
Havlíková, Vendula ; Hrishabh, Sandilya (referee) ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor)
With regard to the novel I would like to conclude this analysis of David Lean's film pointing out that his A Passage to India as an adaptation is a personal interpretation of the literary work, and therefore is unable to correspond with other interpretations and to satisfy the expectation of all viewers familiar with the film. Looking for an explanation of what happened in the caves Lean decided it to be a hallucination of a haunted mind and had to restructure the preceding events of the plot and picture Adela as muddle-headed 'young girl fresh from England' coming to terms with her own repressed sexuality in order to be able to reach this conclusion. Some hold it against him that he falsified the protagonists and manipulated them in his own way to produce a more flattering picture of the British, however, I believe that most of the modifications he has undertaken were to serve the purpose of making a logically coherent story, not to express his own or current political attitudes. As in the case of all adaptations, the choice of actors, depiction of setting and focus on details as a part of interpretation must necessarily lead into certain modification.

Konvalinková, Veronika ; Heczková, Libuše (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the theatricality of Milada Horáková and company trial and its theatrical reflections. In this thesis, the political trial is regarded as an ideological fiction on the grounds of the ritual and theatrical character. The dramas, which are inspired with this trial, are interpreted in the following chapters. First of them, it deals with Pařeniště by E. F. Burian in the context of the socialist realism, which was put on the stage in a short time after this trial. It paid attention to re-putting on the stage in 2008 as well. The last part of this thesis deals with contemporary productions, which are inspired with this trial (Horáková, Gottwald by Karel Steigerwald and opera Tomorrow will... by Aleš Březina and Jiří Nekvasil), which depict absurdity and bizzare atmosphere of this trial.

Europeanization of Parliamentary Parties in Czech republic
Kučerová, Lucie ; Just, Petr (advisor) ; Novák, Miroslav (referee)
The process of the European integration finalized institution-wise by the EU presents an evergreen discussion topic of virtually all the areas of social studies. One out of many consequences of this phenomenal integration scheme of the modern times is the topic of europeanization of the national structures of the single member states. This thesis is focused on discovering the rate of europeanization and analyzing the overall attitude of the parties represented in the parliament of the Czech Republic. As the research on europeanization is struggling with methodological and terminological ambiguity, the first chapters of the thesis are devoted to the overview of the most important conceptions, models and approaches in relation to the europeanization topic. There is also space for the phenomena related to the europeanization process (euroscepticism, political parties on the EU level and so on). The specific analytical frame reflecting the main criteria of the research of the Czech political parties is consequently introduced based on the detailed description of terms and concepts. Europeanization is assessed in the minimalistic way - as process closely related to the existence of the EU. The europeanization process itself is then understood as a reflection of the European integration in the domestic...
