History of PI
Bernátová, Eliška ; Kvasz, Ladislav (advisor) ; Pilous, Derek (referee)
My bachelor thesis "History of " aims to inform about the development of this constant. I tried to proceed chronologically from the beginnings in ancient Egypt through ancient Greece, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance to the Modern Era and the computer's world. In the chapters "The Mysterious Middle Ages" and " the Hunting of the Precise Numbers" are focused mainly on the most important personalities of the time. Of course, the problem of was dealt with a countless number of mathematicians, but to mention each any of them would take a lot of time and the thesis would have hundreds of pages. After due consideration I selected the most interesting personalities, those whose contribution to the development of deserved it most. In the next chapter, "Irrationality and Transcendence" I primarily focused on mathematical theorems and their proofs. This chapter is the most important in my opinion. Many circumstances related to the number are resolved there in. In the final chapter, which I called " in the Computer World" I mention only the most important computers until 1967 because of the very rapid development of technology after wards.

KOTTOVÁ, Jitka
This diploma thesis concerns the possibility of increasing productivity and improving business processes using methods and tools of industrial engineering and systems implementation of lean manufacturing in the company Schwan-STABILO ČR, s.r.o. The concept of lean production is known from the 50 of the last century and was first applied to the Japanese automaker Toyota, which due to its production system (Toyota Production System) was able to produce faster, cheaper and above all to a higher standard than its Western competitors. Investigation and Valuation of Families´ Functionality
ABESKOVÁ, Žaneta
This bachelor{\crq}s work is intended to focus on family, its functionality and values thereof. The work is aimed at assessing the validity and utility of the questionnaire according to the model created by Dunovsky that was designed to research into ways of family functionality. The theoretical part is trying to give us a closer look at and define the term ``family{\crqq}, and it primarily concerns with its key functions, especially those related to biological reproduction, economic function of the family, emotional and social-behavioral function, and their disorders thereof. It also demonstrates the historical development of the family, showing how the customary family structure had been gradually changing over the time, through which it was created; from the essentially monogamous family, resting on significant patriarchal controls, till its current modern family structures and forms of coexistence. The theoretical part also includes a description of building individual family relations and the significance of parental cohabitation for each child{\crq}s well-being. Due consideration has also been given to current problems that are affecting today{\crq}s Czech family. The practical part is then focused on the assessment, measured by the diagnostic Family Functionality Questionnaire by Dunovsky, which was performed in 25 families in the village of Velke Mezirici. The qualitative research method of questioning and the structured written questionnaire technique were employed with the aim of proving its validity and utility even nowadays, and thus trying to either confirm or refute the stipulated hypothesis that the Functionality Questionnaire by Dunovsky from 80´s needs to be updated. Obviously performing the goal of the work and confirming this hypothesis are sufficiently deep to provide the result of the research.

Protection of goodwil of legal entility
Kolářová, Eva ; Šustek, Petr (advisor) ; Hendrychová, Michaela (referee)
The topic of this thesis is " Protection of goodwill of a legal entity". It is an issue which deserves an attention, but seldom can man find any legal literature or essays on this topic, especially in comparison with the sphere of protection of personal rights. As the modern age moves ahead, there are more legal entities and also it is much easier to affect the right to goodwill of a legal entity and the encroachments are becoming more frequent. Due to the tense wording of the Sentence 19b of the Act No. 40/1964 Coll., Civil Code, as amended, it is necessary to follow the practice of the courts to describe this topic. So it is in this thesis, which is primarily based on the judgements of the courts, especially from the decisions of the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic. The other sources, I used in this thesis, are the commentaries and other legal literature. The aim of this thesis is to describe what exactly is goodwill, how a person can interfere into the right to goodwill, in which circumstances the person will not be liable for the unjustified encroachment, and if it is found, that the person is liable for the unjustified encroachment, how can the legal entity defend its rights before the court. The thesis is divided into eight chapters, from which the first and the last ones are introduction...

Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin's The brazen serpent: a contextual analysis
Skrbková, Alžběta ; Wallace, Clare (referee) ; Quinn, Justin (advisor)
Ní Chuilleanáin's collection The Brazen Serpent is fascinating on many levels and deserves a broad readership. However, due to the author's reputation for elusive and impenetrable poetry, the collection has not been as widely appreciated as it could have been had the readers been brave enough to flip and rotate the cover and dedicate to the collection the time and effort which the poems call for. The main dissuasion may seem to be the fact that the collection is deeply inspired by religious imagery and faith. However, in the analysis of the collection, it has been shown that although the poems are connected to the theme of religion, including topics such as nuns, the sacred versus the secular, saints and relics and other similar themes, there are many other layers of meaning which are hidden and have been excavated with the help of critical publications, interviews with the author and systematic close reading of the texts. This analysis of The Brazen Serpent, which incorporated biographical information, the Irish context, the feminine and feminist aspect, history - both personal and religious, aspires to be a useful tool for the better understanding of the rich symbolism contained in the poetry in its many layers of meaning. As was evident in the personal interview which I conducted with Ní Chuilleanáin,...

The sociology of music: case of folk in Czech milieu
Šlosarová, Petra ; Duffková, Jana (advisor) ; Lupač, Petr (referee)
This thesis is focused on the sociology of music, precisely on the sociological view of the folk music genre. Further, it analyses the following: who are the participants on the interpreters and listeners side, and what are the social aspects of this type of music. Also, I will explain how this music is portrayed in our medias, content of the lyrics and where it can be heard today. Folk music as such is derived from several different sources and in this work I will introduce and analyse each of them separately. The lyrics of the songs reflect social influence of the totalitarian rule. Due to this aspekt the folk music genre became even more popular. Later on, we will explore how this music has developed different trends with the approach of the modern times. As one of the re search techniques used were personal opinions of folk musicians where they answered questionnaires and also provided interviews. The questions are summarised throughout the thesis and the interviews are presented in the apendix. Further method used was the survey conducted during the Mohelnicky dostavnik music festival which took place in August 2009. Respondents answered a questionnaire and marked answers by choice which was later analysed with statistical programme SPSS for Windows 15.0 and presented in this work.
