Comparison of philosophic and ethic motives in the literary work of A.Camus and J.P.Sartre
Bečvářová, Lenka ; Blažková, Miloslava (advisor) ; Prázný, Aleš (referee)
RESUME My diploma thesis is focused on the comparison of opinions of Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus concerning existential and philosophical motifs in their literary work. I tried to compare the occurrence of individual existential categories, based on selected philosophical and literary works of both authors, who rank among the French branch of atheist existentialism. The first chapter deals with basic characteristics of existential philosophy and its changes between the two wars; and the consequential spreading of this philosophy thinking in the post-war Europe, in which it achieved a great success in a few branches. Majority of this chapter is devoted to French existentialism, whose goal was to explore and describe concrete existence, while human being (existence) is identified as freedom there. It was due to Jean- Paul Sartre that French existentialism has become the most significant way of thinking. The two following chapters briefly describe the lives of Sartre and Camus; because the lives of authors who write philosophical and literary works are always interconnected with their work. The second and third chapter contain the analysis of selected works of both authors, while I didn't forget the dramatic work which is a part of philosophical ad literary work and by means of that I presented mainly...

An analysis of the contemporary song texts in romani
Skočovská, Markéta ; Červenka, Jan (referee) ; Andrš, Zbyněk (advisor)
My bachelor's thesis is a study of contemporary Romani musical texts. In particular, I focus on the thematic analysis of the texts, their compositional and linguistic style, as well as their function in present-day life. Romani song texts have always been one of the cultural attributes with which the cultural identity of Roma has been strengthened. The question I have posed is whether the texts of current songwriters still fulfill this function. I selected six Romani authors of song texts, who at the same time act as the musical interpreters of their own works. They are Mario Bihari, Jan Duzda, Marie Duzdova, Desiderius Duzda, Radoslav "Gipsy" Banga, and members of the band Gulo čar. They represent various musical genres and an age range between twenty-two and forty-four years. Original texts released on musical media after the year 2000 served as the material for the study. All of the analyzed texts, with their Czech translations, can be found in the appendix. In the chapter entitled "Thematic Analysis" I conclude that the most common themes in the analyzed texts have to do with human emotions, experiences and life events. Each author has a different manner of working with these motives. The following chapter, "The Language and Style of the Texts," considers the ways in which the themes are expressed. In...

The analysis of Boris Antonenko-Davydovytch's of early novels
Svobodová, Petra ; Chlaňová, Tereza (advisor) ; Morávková, Alena (referee)
In my diploma I concentrate on the analysis of short stories by Boris AntonenkoDavydovych, the Ukrainian writer, whose works belong to the first half of the 20th century. I especially aim at Davydovych's prozaic works from the 1920s which had been affected by revolution changes and after-revolution-chaotic reality. First I introduce the literary process and time when the author was active and I chronologically name the sequence of Davydovych's prose. In the first chapter I analyze the single stories at large while focusing on the action that is later divided into partial chapters and focusing on the most important plots and expressive characteristics, I explore the composition issue, the characters themselves, time and space point of view and also the author's style, the method of his narration and his choice of lexical and figurative instruments. The second chapter concerns the topics of Davydovych's stories. His works from the 1920s map the historical topics of the World War I and the year 1905, the civil war and the famine in the years of 1921-23, the after-revolution reality. The third chapter focuses Davydovych's stylistic range that does not divert from realistic mantinels. Though his work is also influenced by revolutinary impressionism, neoromantism and symbolism. The fourth chapter deepens the view...

Linguistic analysis literature for children Language and style recent author fairy tale
Mohoritová, Nela ; Šmejkalová, Martina (referee) ; Palkosková, Olga (advisor)
This work is devoted to linguistic and stylistic analysis of three texts by contemporary authors. Texts correspond to the fairy tale genre and were issued in the last five years. These texts are "Pohádky pro dobrodruhy" by Zdeněk Šmíd, "Lingvistické pohádky" by Petr Nikl and "Knihafoss" by Marka Míková. The analysis covers all the linguistic planes, the overall style of the work, syntactic, lexical, morphological, phonetic and graphic aspects of the texts. It focuses primarily on the linguistic resources characteristic of the author, the way they are used and their function in the text. We attempt to find common features of language and style of contemporary fairy tale, but also show the original language experiments of the individual authors. Attention is given to horizontal and vertical text layout, the language of the narrator and his role in the text. Also, we examine various ways the authors contact their readers and the means used to do so, for contacting the reader is one common element found in all examined works. Other common features include language game, the principle of interactivity and use of varied vocabulary. In the lexical level this shows in author's work with toponymes, neologisms. At the syntactic level they combine similar syntactic means, at the phonetic level all texts incorporate...

Utraquist oriented humanism in Bohemia exemplified in the literary works of Mikuláš Konáč z Hodiškova
Fernández Couceiro, Eduardo ; Voit, Petr (advisor) ; Nejedlý, Martin (referee)
Works of literary history dealing with 16th-century Czech literature often speak of the contrast between Latin (aristocratic, Catholic) and national (burgher, Utraquist) humanism. Representatives of these trends fall into two groups which are presented as antithetical, independent and closed, and literary evaluations often favour national humanism for extra-literary (religious, social, linguistic) reasons. In the first part of this paper, we indicate that this contrast does not hold valid completely because, on the one hand, there are numerous cases which may not be easily assimilated within this scheme and, on the other, Czech nationalist humanism depends entirely on Latin models (ancient, medieval, Renaissance). In the second part, we focus on the work of Mikuláš Konáč of Hodíškov, considered to be a typical representative of national humanism. An analysis of his literary and printing work reveals several aspects which lie outside the conventional framework of national humanism. In his literary works (chiefly translations), Konáč draws not from the national (Hussite) tradition, but from international European Latin scholarship. As regards his religious beliefs, he appeared to be a conservative Utraquist, but his attitudes changed with time: an overall tolerance of and sympathy towards the Unity of the...

An analysis of the television miniseries Top of the Lake, eccentric six-part drama about child abuse in a remote New Zealand community.
