Managing interest rate risk
Hrouda, Jiří ; Radová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Witzany, Jiří (referee)
Main interest of this bachelor thesis is a management of interest rate risk from the ALM point of view. The goal is to provide a reasonable insight into management procedure as a whole i.e. from theory and measurement to evaluation of interest rate risk. Due to the limitation of extent, hedging of interest rate risk is not treated in the thesis. Real data analysis of interest rate risk is an essential part of the thesis. In the analysis the approaches to measurement of interest rate risk are being used on real data simulating real life interest rate risk measurement procedure.

Further, selected hedging techniques and instruments are introduced. With employment of available statistics and analysis, main advantages and disadvantages of hedging are demonstrated. For practical application of theory presented, real data from mid-sized company are used. Finally, concrete recommendations for the management are offered, which could lead to lowering FX exposure and reducing impact of changes in exchange rates on economy of the firm.

Actual discussion about the regulation of the energy market : theory and practice in the Czech Republic and France
Riemlová, Simona ; Hrubý, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
The European energy market has experienced a process of rapid change in recent years. The trend of liberalisation and deregulation is shaping in a fundamental way the environment in which energy companies operate. The aim of this paper is to analyse the present situation regarding the European debate on the liberalisation of the energy market. The analysis includes a theoretical excursus on the problem of the natural monopoly in the energy sector, a description of the European requirements for the organisation of the energy market and an account of the experience of the first countries opening their energy sectors. We will base our affirmation that European directive 2003/92/EC leaves sufficient room for each member state to organise its energy market on its own, on the current debate and the experience of two European Union member states, the Czech Republic and France. The culmination of this paper is section six comparing the present state of the liberalisation process in these two countries, the satisfaction of inhabitants with this process and its impact on energy prices. Problems of the categorization of jobs
Kloučková, Kateřina ; Čábelková, Zdeňka (advisor)
The thesis is focused on the categorization of jobs from two perspectives. In the theoretical section of the thesis, the evaluation method (the categorization) is described. Categorization is understood as a method of risk evaluation and the system of managing the categorization results (Information System Work Categorization - KaPr). In the practical section of the thesis (the second part of the document) I applied the theory in an actual workspace, a bindery.

On the Growing Awareness of an European Identity
Sedláček, Lukáš ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Rak, Jiří (referee)
This paper examines the growing awareness of an European identity. Chapter 1 consists of an overview of how the term 'identity' can be perceived. Then two social psychology theories on identity are examined: the theory of identity and the theory of social identity. A unique perception of identity of the former President of the Czech Republic Václav Havel is shortly looked at. Chapter 2, looks at the term 'Europe' and at some differing perceptions of 'Europe' in history. In Chapter 3, the term 'European identity' is examined. In Chapter 4, the main thesis of the paper, saying that the awareness of an European identity is for a number of years growing among the citizens of the Member States is argued. In Chapter 5, the other thesis of this paper is argued. The thesis is that the majority of citizens of the Member States perceive themselves as having both a national identity and an European identity and do not view these two identities to be incompatible. Měnová politika a ECB
Strejc, Daniel ; Klosová, Anna (advisor) ; Coniglio, Nicola (referee)
The thesis evaluates the ECB's monetary policy during the past decade by using policy rules and compares the suitability to particular members of the Eurozone. It examines the central bank's reaction function regarding the output and inflation. The work is divided into two main parts. First, gives the theoretical introduction of monetary policy and evaluation of the Eurozone regarding the theory of optimal currency area. In the second part it provides the econometric models and estimates. As a conclusion the results of two different OLS models show that, we cannot precisely decide to which variable the ECB reacted, as obtained two statistically significant models but with different results. For two models is used different variables GDP gap and IPI gap. The results have also shown that the ECB's monetary policy mostly suits to biggest economies within the Eurozone.

Stability and Growth Pact as an element of economic and monetary union
Zábrahová, Linda ; Urban, Luděk (advisor) ; Dědek, Oldřich (referee)
This diploma thesis analyses Stability and Growth Pact. It examines, if SGP is the appropriate guard of fiscal discipline of EMU member states. It explains how SGP works, what the basic elements are and how constituent procedures behave. This thesis investigates favorable and also negative features of Stability and Growth Pact in its former version. It analyses, how have member states respected and met requirements of SGP. In particular, it pays attention to states, which couldn't fulfill these fiscal conditions. Then it devotes to critics of SGP and academic reform proposals on its reform. It cites debate on the level of member states and European Union institutions, their opinions and reform proposals too. On the basis of this discussion it has been created a new alteration of Stability and Growth Pact - it is also described and evaluated in this thesis. However, this reformed version of SGP is more flexible, but it will probably leads to loosening of fiscal rules and here is a risk, that in this form, it will never work well. Traditional and modern approaches to pricing in nonlife insurance
Vojtěch, Jonáš ; Branda, Martin (advisor) ; Mazurová, Lucie (referee)
Title: Traditional and modern approaches to pricing in nonlife insurance Abstract: This thesis deals with the theory and implementation of generalized linear models in the area of pricing of non-life insurance and subsequent optimalization of rates. Using the generalized linear models it is possible to estimate expected value and variance of compound distribution of total claims made according to insurance policy during definite time period. The next step is to build an optimalization model and describe several methods how to determine rates that lead to optimal distribution of safety margins within insurance policies in particular risk groups. Represented approaches how to calculate insurance premiums are numerically illustrated on simulated data in concluding parts of the thesis.
