Chvosta, Luděk ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Růžička, Květoslav (referee)
- 105 - The Law of Contracts in the United States of America (The Approach to Conflict of Laws in American Contracts) Summary: This thesis aims to compare the fundamental principles and basic ideas behind the law of contracts in the Czech Republic and the Unites States, hoping to introduce the reader not only to the pivotal maxims inherent to each of these two widely differing legal systems, but also to their respective idiosyncracies and mutual inconsistencies. It further wishes to explane the rather unique position of Conflict of Laws in the United States - its history, origin and some of its major differences when compared to International Private Law as it is known in Europe. The first part of the thesis offers a quick refresher course on selected legal concepts of Czech contract law handpicked with the express intent of comparing them to their American counterparts. A discussion of the history, sources and types of contracts in the United States then follows. A general analysis of Conflict of Laws in the United States and its history is also included. The second part of the thesis contains the contractual comparison itself, analyzing the sometimes subtle, sometimes far-reaching impact of discovered discrepancies in various stages of contractual offers and acceptances on the understanding of American...

MUDr. JEHLIČKA SUMMARY This study has focused on a new method for the assessment of endothelial dysfunction (ED) using the Deceleration Index (DI). A total of 242 ultrasonographic examinations were performed in 92 children (FH 32, DM1 30, healthy controls 3O). The average DI values were 21.8%(±9.4)in healthy children, 19.9%(±9)in FH and 17.6%(±14)in the DM1 group. There were statistically insignificant differences between the study groups. This was most probably due to the high biological variability of the method employed. The coefficient of variation of DI was 1.02 (0.68 -1.53). Therefore, the clinical usefulness of DI is limited with regards to the individual assessment of ED and thus for the prediction of cardiovascular risk. The association of ADMA and oxLDL with ED and their superior sensitivity compared to DI and FMD has been confirmed in our study. Folic acid supplementation did not lead to a statistically signifiant improvement of DI and FMD. Similarly, plasma levels of ADMA and oxLDL remained unchanged despite a decrease of homocysteine and hsCRP in these children. This finding demonstrates a complicated relationship between ADMA, homocysteine and folic acid. The protective effect of folic acid on ED in high risk children was not confirmed in this study.

Usage of Informatica tools in a datawarehouse and optimalization of ETL processes
Adámek, Karel ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Derfler, Václav (referee)
The graduation thesis is engaged in the problems of ETL development in terms of Business Intelligence solution. It analyses the wider portfolio of aplications supporting ETL development and offers the survey of its basic characteristics. There is a detail analysis of the pair of chosen instruments which utility is shown on the development of the real transformations. Then the advantages and possible risks of the transition on the higher edition of the product PowerCenter from Informatica company are being analysed too. The constituent of the thesis is engaged in optimalization procedure which is put into real operation of data warehouse and shows its benefit in term of computer time reduction The aim of the thesis is to show the detail look into the ETL instruments, formation of ETL transformations and not least the ways of optimalization of ETL transformations. The graduation thesis proposes to solve the problems in selection of convenient ETL instrument not only from the view of ETL developer in the shape of detailed comparison of the pair instrument usage but also from the view of management in the shape of general survey, basic characteristics and the comparison of wider porfolio of ETL instruments. In terms of detailed analysis the set Informatica PowerCenter should give us answers for the questions like: "What advantages does the upgrade of Informatica PowerCenter range 7 to range 8 bring?" or "What problems may that upgrade cause and how can we solve those problems? The part devoted to optimalization proposes to offer the outlook to the basic optimalization procedures inside the data warehouse and comparison of its contribution. In parallel with analytic part there is also proceeding the formation of practical part of the graduation thesis which consists in development of really used ETL transformations and in optimalization of selected ETL transformations of data warehouse. First the graduation thesis is concentrated on the analytic activity consisting in the products research which are on the top of ETL development. Then it is gathering the detailed knowledge of two instruments which is aplicated for the formation of ETL transformations The second analytic phase is concentrated on the optimalization procedures. The knowledge acquired in that phase is subsequently used in practice and the final analysis of those procedures and benefits is proceeding. The graduation thesis does not also miss out to partly outline the future development in the field of ETL.The main contribution consists in giving not only the comprehensive survey of ETL instruments but also in the detailed analysis of pros and cons of the pair of selected products. The thesis offered the answers to the questions asked in the outset connected with the transition to upper version of Power Center. The analysis of optimalization procedure enabled the optimalization of 29 ETL transformations and their high effectivity was proved too.

1 ABSTRACT Background The annual drug overdose rates have been increasing exponentially since the 90's worldwide. Toxicological information centre (TIC) represents a valuable source of information for evaluating the trends in the drug poisonings in Czech Republic. Aim of the study The purpose was to analyze the number and trends in the calls concerning poisonings due to central nervous system (CNS) affecting drugs, identify the reasons of medication errors caused by laymen, frequency and consequences of these errors across all age groups and also to analyze the numbers, causes, symptoms and severity of the paracetamol intoxications. Methods During the reference period the data from the enquiries were extracted from the TIC electronic database, discharge reports from the hospital were studied or phone call follow-ups with the patients were carried out to be able to evaluate the outcome of the poisonings. Results In the years 1997-2002 the number of calls caused by poisoning with tricyclic antidepressants and barbiturates decreased (by 366.7 % and 340,0 %, respectively) whereas the calls due to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and benzodiazepines overdose increased (by 1347.4 % and 359.8 %). The 0-5 years old children are at the highest risk of experiencing medication errors or accidental poisonings...

Bank of Czechoslovak legions in 1919-1938
Brádlerová, Daniela ; Kubů, Eduard (advisor)
Předkládaná disertační práce má za cíl zpracovat pokud možno celistvý obraz, na československém meziválečném peněžním trhu do značné míry ojedinělé, bankovní instituce - Banky československých legií. Těžiště práce spočívá ve sledování důsledků hospodářských aktivit čsl. legií v Rusku, ideových motivů a politicko-vojenských okolností doprovázejících založení banky. Dále pak v analýze struktury banky a rozkrytí jejích obchodně podnikatelských aktivit v období I. republiky.
