The Body of Music
Galuška, Ondřej ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Karfíková, Lenka (referee) ; Kolman, Vojtěch (referee)
The Body of Music examines in what sense we can and must ascribe some sort of a body to music, which has traditionally been considered the most ideal and metaphysical of arts, and it seeks to analyze different aspects of corporeality in music. Its aim is to show that the body of music cannot be reduced to mere physical vibrations or simply to the condition sine qua non of musical experience. The body is always somehow active in music, it co-creates it, inspires it, it forms its significance or signifiance. Simultaneously it is itself transformed by music, it is played out in and through music. First, the body becomes apparent when we look at music as a process and activity rather than as a product. The body of a musician is that of a perpetual learner, it transforms itself, it is forced to think by itself and while "performing" music it has to breathe life into it, actualize it. Second, confronted with the process of learning and a musical instrument we come across the body of sound: something like the obstinacy of the material, irreducible to the intelligible strata of the musical sound. Sound is a complex phenomenon, whose material layer is itself productive of meaning. Third, there is the body of the listener, which is similar to that of the musician in that it too has to "perform", compose the music....

The body and corporality in the work of Svatava Antošová
Kunová, Kateřina ; Heczková, Libuše (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor' s thesis focuses on the analysis of poems and prose by the unconventional writer Svatava Antosova, whose work is often labeled as "provocative". Texts by Judith Butler and Michel Foulcault serve as the basis for the approach to issues ofthe body and corporality. The thesis analyses the ways in which the concepts of the "real man" and "real woman" are formed in a heteronormative society and what kind of social sanctions are imposed on those who do not fit into these expected roles. It also deals with the role of a lesbian in a seemingly clearly defined cathegory of "women" and with the question if there reaHy is such a thing as "lesbian literature", which is how the work of Antosova is often labeled. The analysis itself is divided into four parts: coherence of the sex/gender/lust, the destroyed body, lesbi(ani)sm and the depiction of an intimate relationship. The final part then depicts, through several interviews with the author, how she constantly has to face aH the stereotypical questions about her "queerness". The point of this thesis is to show how, in aH its complexity, the feeling of "queerness" is captured in the work of Antosova - both on the surface of and inside the body.

Matematická analýza a výpočtový algoritmus Rayleighovy-Plessetovy rovnice v okolí prudkého kolapsu bublinky.
Petrík, Peter ; Maršík, František (advisor) ; Rudolf, Pavel (referee)
The Rayleigh-Plesset equation is commonly used to describe the dynamics of spherical bubbles in water. However, as high-speed observations show, the bubble looses its spherical shape during the violent collapse and often ssions into a number of smaller bubbles before it rebounds again or dissolves completely. The objective of the work is to bridge the gap between the \spherical\ Rayleigh-Plesset approach and the \non-spherical\ behavior of the collapsing bubble in conditions when the Rayleigh-Plesset equation is no longer valid. The objective is achieved in 3 steps. First, the new criterion for the assessment of the reliability of the Rayleigh-Plesset equation is proposed. Second, the analysis of the shape stability of the spherical surface of the bubble during the collapse lead to the development of a physical model, which incorporates the loss of shape stability, surface energy dissipation and the ssion process. Moreover it estimates the number of bubble fragments as well as conditions when the ssion occurs. Finally, theoretical results are incorporated into the complex numerical code, with the focus on error estimation, specially propagation of rounding error. The sample numerical results for typical hydrodynamic cavitation situations were calculated. The results of this work have to be further con rmed...

RDF format convertor
Stárka, Jakub ; Štanclová, Jana (referee) ; Dokulil, Jiří (advisor)
RDF is one of the basic building blocks of the Semantic web. RDF/XML was designed to be the primary form of serializing RDF. It has a complex and hard to read syntax which lead to creation of several alternatives, that are usually human readable but incompatible with the other alternatives. The goal of the thesis is to create a conversion tool for various RDF serialization formats, e.g. RDF/XML, Turtle, N3, and N-Triples. The tool must correctly handle all of the advanced syntax of the languages on the input side. Support for these shortcuts in output is not required. The implementation should be focused on high performance and correct Unicode handling.

Návrh a implementace systému PAC
Kalina, Petr ; Hanzlíček, Petr (referee) ; Peterka, Jiří (advisor)
PAC (Picture Archiving and Communication) systems enable for storage and management of digital picture data produced by various modalities on radiological and other hospital departments. An effective implementation of a PAC system has to face number of challenges - how the picture data and corresponding metadata are represented, how are they communicated, how the system integrates with other department or hospital subsystems, how the workflow and basic tasks are managed or how scalability, robustness and reliability is achieved. There are several industrial standards affecting this area - and all of them are quite complex. The aim of this work was to design and implement a PAC system that would be capable of long-term production use at PET center of Na Homolce hospital under existing requirements an limitations and that would be very standardized in respect to the existing industrial standards.

Study of the mammalian oncogenic transcription factors in the yeast model
Novák, Josef ; Šťovíček, Vratislav (referee) ; Zámostná, Blanka (advisor)
Yeast serves as a useful tool for studying cellular processes and therefore a large amount of techniques and protocols has been developed. There are special methods for studying the transcriptional factors in yeast, such as modified yeast two-hybrid screens, yeast one-hybrid screens and systems studying ability of transcription factors to transactivate a reporter gene. Oncogenes from AP-1 complex, Myc and Myb protein families are described in this work. Using a yeast model the structural-functional properties of proteins can be easily studied and in some cases even their ability of oncogenic transformation can be predicted (FASAY or ability of c-Myc to transactivate a reporter gene). However, results from yeast models must be confirmed in mammalian cells. 1

Association between smoking and histological type of lung cancer
Lacina, Ladislav ; Zatloukal, Petr (advisor)
The topic of my thesis relationship of smoking and lung cancer histology am chosen mainly because of the relevance of the topic and close relationship to health status Czech population . Question smoking and its health consequences is not just a problem medical , but society as a whole extending to the political level and other areas of public life . Czech Republic , along with other European countries Union joined the fight against this vice, and politicians must now solve complex problems that revolve around population health , personal freedom individuals , including the right to damage their health and spending Health. Lung cancer is undoubtedly the most serious medical problem connected with smoking. The connection between smoking and lung tumors have been suspected long , gradually assumption confirmed and quantified statistically and probabilistically. Despite this problem give scientists all over the world special attention , this research is far from closed. from global Looking at lung cancer as a whole , attention shifts to monitor the relationship smoking to the individual histological types of tumors and other sub- střípkům intricate mosaics.

Frontend pro matematicky vyhledavac
Klíma, Jaroslav ; Mišutka, Jozef (advisor) ; Šerý, Ondřej (referee)
Mathematical notation is becoming more important as software is more often used in day-to-day life. Schools are starting to support e-learning, science is penetrating WWW and search engines can handle more complex questions. In the present work, I summarise the state-of-art of available applications which support mathematical input and could be used for graphical user interface (UI) of a mathematical search engine - EgoMath. Since none of the evaluated UIs meet our requirements, I present the design and implementation of yet another mathematical user interface focusing on the identified issues. The main goal of the new mathematical UI is to help the user provide input which will be well understood by the underlying application. Input symbols can be selected from a large domain using a limited set of keys. This must be intuitive and the application should actively aid in this task by providing graphical hints based on the input expression in real time.

Surgical sex conversion
Dohnalová, Lenka ; Šamánková, Marie (advisor) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to concentrate to inform the comunity with less known problems of nursing the patients with disorders of sexual identification - with transexuality. The persons with this disorder have genetic and somatic equipment belong to one sex, however their sexual identification is orientated to contrary gender. Surgical conversion of sex of transexuals forms oni y one of the aspects by complex approach to this complicated disorder. The decision when the surgery is indicated is up to sexologist and authorized by the committee. The commision decision is based on detailed and prolonged psychological approach to everyone. The observation is pointed at adaptation for new social status a:fter longtime hormonal treatment and follows a:fter operation and o:fficial conversion ofthe gender as well. Volume measurement in 3D data
Krajíček, Václav ; Felkel, Petr (referee) ; Pelikán, Josef (advisor)
Medical diagnostics using computed tomography or magnetic resonance is a common part of complex medical checkup for a long time. These devices produce vast volumes of data, which must be analyzed by an expert physician. There is a big space for utilising computers to aid medical diagnosis, or visualization. This work aims to measure volume of a specific organ in the human body, like kidneys or spleen. To measure volume of the organ it is necessary to reconstruct the object from three-dimensional data. Reconstruction is based on segmentation of the image data, which separates reconstructed organs from the background. The task of segmentation is specially adapted to this kind of data, which are, from specimen to specimen, characterized by big similarity in common shape, but also by big heterogeneity in tiny details. Deformable models were chosen as a primary tool for the segmentation of three-dimensional volumes. They are also the main topic of this work. Programs measuring volume in medical data exist, but thanks to increasing performance of modern computers it is possible to implement new algorithms, which are not present in today's software tools. The result of this work is a system which segments and measures volume in medical data. We also perform benchmarks, which expose an error of the measurement with...
