Unruptured intracranial aneurysms : Does the risk of endovascular treatment outweigh natural history?
Beneš, Vladimír ; Stejskal, Lubor (advisor) ; Haninec, Pavel (referee) ; Janoušková, Ladislava (referee)
Summary: Background: The management of unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) remains controversial. The international study of UIAs (ISUIA) found low rates of rupture and appreciable treatment risks, which can be interpreted that many UIAs should not be treated. Results of endovascular coiling of 131 patients with UIAs are presented along with a risk-benefit analysis based on patient and aneurysm characteristics. Patients and methods: From December 1996 to September 2005, 131 patients (93 women and 38 men, mean age 51 years) with 151 UIAs were treated using detachable coil embolisation. Data on procedural complications, patient and aneurysm characteristics, clinical and radiological follow-up were entered into a prospectively collected database. A risk-benefit analysis was performed. Results: Endovascular treatment was successful in 145 (96%) aneurysms. One aneurysm ruptured intraoperatively with a fatal outcome. Ten thromboembolic events occurred, leaving one patient moderately disabled. The combined morbidity and mortality rate at 6 months per patient is 1,5% (95% confidence interval: 0,07 - 5,7%). Risk-benefit analysis comparing these data with published natural history suggests that treatment with low complication rates can be offered to most patients with UIAs. Conclusion: UIAs can be coiled with...

Implementing the Dynamic Languages Using DLR Technology
Beňo, Miloslav ; Zavoral, Filip (advisor) ; Dokulil, Jiří (referee)
The Microsoft .NET Framework was from the beginning designed to support broad range of languages on a Common Language Runtime (CLR). CLR provides shared services such as garbage collection, JIT and tools integration. The other benefit is that these languages can work together and use libraries written in any of them as well as .NET Base class library (BCL). The CLR didn't have the support for dynamic languages. Their dynamic nature makes the compilation uneasy and places high demands on the language runtime. Unlike static languages as C# which don't require runtime support other than CLR itself. How difficult was it to make the dynamic language on .NET can be seen in the open-source implementation of PHP language on .NET called Phalanger. Its code is really complex and hard to survey. This is a serious problem for an open-source project, because it's hard to contribute. The new Dynamic Language Runtime (DLR) makes a difference. It adds a lot of support for dynamic languages on .NET, that makes implementing the dynamic languages much easier and it also enables the interoperability between the dynamic languages built on DLR and standard static languages on .NET. This work focuses on features of PHP dynamic language and discusses how they can be implemented in DLR. A part of this work is a pilot implementation...

Application of insights in commercial communication targeted at women
Dúbravská, Pavla ; Klosová, Anna (advisor) ; Zadražilová, Dana (referee) ; Přikrylová, Jana (referee)
Commercial communications is often accused of stereotyping when picturing women in commercials. To certain extent women expect and ask for "better and easier world" when it comes to advertising. In many cases however women tend to feel simplified. Both from advertising theory and practice insight is crucial for advertising to resonate with its target audience. If the communication is built on well-chosen insight the consumer gets a feeling that the brand understands him better. The main task of this work is thus to give insight into the mind of women as consumers and to find out how women perceive themselves in commercial communication. Two levels, theoretical and practical, are distinguished within this task that were later transformed into specific goals. Foreign literature gives evidence that insight is actually important part of both advertising theory and practice. No literature maps the attitude of practitioners in advertising in the Czech republic. Therefore the first goal is to map the role and understanding of insight in the Czech republic. To research this topic 12 in-depth interviews with advertisers and practitioners from communication and research agencies were executed. The in-depth interviews confirm the importance of insight also in the Czech republic. Second specific goal of the thesis is to map what kind of advertising Czech women consider as insightful. For the research purposes the insightfulness of communication is transformed into self-identification with media and commercial content. In the first part of this research respondents were asked to come up with content that evokes a feeling of understanding and self-identification. The research also verifies two hypotheses. H1: Stereotypes in advertising bother women. H2: Insights created in foreign countries can be applied in the Czech market. 200 women were interviewed through online questionnaire. As a stimuli television commercials with chosen parameters were used. It was found out that the self-identification with media content came through the identification with the main heroine, identification with realistic situations and through humour. The first hypothesis is not confirmed by the research. Women were not really bothered by stereotypes in advertising according to the research. The second hypothesis is not confirmed either. Foreign insights cannot be automatically used in the Czech market. There are national and cultural differences that need to be taken into account. The thesis is divided into 7 chapters including the introduction and the summary. The benefit of this work on the theoretical level is seen in mapping the topic in its complexity. The practical contribution is seen in how the work assesses insights, its creation but also expectations of the subjects in the market.

Intensive hippotherapy in children diagnosed with infantile paralysis and its short-term and intermediate effect
Kopecká, Tereza ; Pivec, Martin (advisor) ; Kulichová, Jana (referee)
Hippotherapy belongs to the family of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation methods. It especially benefits the rehabilitation care of complex neurological patients. This paper theoretically examines the methodology of hippotherapy. Further, this paper examines an evaluative survey of 21 subjects after intensive hippotherapy who were initially diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The immediate, short and medium term effect of the therapy was exami-ned. For the evaluation the intercondylic index, Collis symptom and position reaction tests were used. The testing is complemented with a questionnaire filled in by parents with 11 pa-rameters, which included changes in the functions of knowledge and psyche of the child. The results show that there is a statistically significant improvement in all examined parameters after immediate and weekly therapy. Thus this method can be recommended as a possible approach to the therapy of children with cerebral palsy. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

This master´s thesis deals with influence of mica content on the electrical properties of electrical insulating varnishes, particularly in the polyester resin Dolphon XL 2102. It focuses on diagnostic methods and testing the properties of electroinsulating varnishes. Examines the potential benefits of micronised mica in order to achieve better electrical insulation properties of the system compared to the matrix. The composite material consists of polyester resin Dolphon XL 2102, which is modified different mass percentage of micronized mica. The results of this project are frequency dependencies of real and imaginary parts of complex permitivity of varnish component.
