Bachelar thesis is devoted to the topic of professional foster care abroad. The target of the thesis was to show the way of the functioning this form of the substitute family care in two different countries. The first part describes the characteristics psychological aspects of the foster care. Another part talks about the professional foster care in Slovakia. After separation of Czechoslovakia, the system of the substitute family care in Slovakia was developing differently than in the Czech Republic. There is a literature dealing with these issues of the professional foster care in Slovakia so I could well study it and wrote complexly about this issue. There is also a part in my thesis about the civil association "Návrat", which supports the comeback of abandoned children in to the family. The important part of the process of comeback of the abandoned children in to the family is the social work with dysfunctional families. The final part of the thesis informs about the professional foster care in Norway. I was studying in Norway at the Erasmus program so I had the great opportunity to get the information about the system of the professional foster care from the people working in such a organizations in Oslo. Norway is one of the most advanced countries in Europe so also the system of professional...

Svobodová, Šárka ; Koťa, Jaroslav (referee) ; Lorenzová, Jitka (advisor)
The main purpose of this study is to map the situation and the social role of student associations in the Netherlands and in the Czech Republic. The main topic is the comparison of student associations in terms of their functioning. This study also attempts to evaluate the extent to which the differing social status of student associations in each country can be attributed to socio-cultural variables. The first part introduces both the countries and their university systems of education in the post-Bologna Process period. Furthemore it outlines the main aims and fields of activities of the student associations. For understanding better the culture and mentality of both nations, the following two chapters are dedicated to the typical characteristics of Czech and Dutch societies. The analysis of these characteristics is grounded on the theory of cultural dimensions developed by the Dutch social psychologist Geert Hofstede. The core of the present work is the description of the structure and the functioning of student associations in the Czech Republic and in the Netherlands. This part focuses on differences in the social roles, cooperation with universities and approach of students to their associations. In its closing part the study deals with international student associations and describes one of the...

Bc. Petra Chmelařová Title of diploma thesis: HMGB1 in bacterial infections Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biological and Medical Sciences Background: Detection of HMGB1 mRNA expression and HMGB1 at the protein level in blood and ileum during bacterial infection in gnotobiotic piglet as infection model. Evaluation of the course of infection with expression IL-8, IL10, TNF-α and TLR4 mRNA in ileum and IL- 8, IL10 a TNF-α levels in blood and intestinal washes. Final assessment of HMGB1 as potential late marker of sepsis in pig. Methods: 1) The groups of gnotobiotic piglets - germfree (control), infected (extracellular parasite E.coli O55 or intracellular parasite Salmonella enterica serogroup Typhimurium) and associated piglets (probiotic E.coli Nissle 1917), 2) determination of bacterial count as CFU in blood and intestine with cultivation on bacteriological media, 3) column-based total RNA isolation from intestine, 4) spectrophotometric RNA quantification and estimation of purity, 5) cDNA synthesis with combined primers (oligo d(T) and random n-mers), 6) real-time polymerase chain reaction with LNA probes, 7) real-time PCR data normalization to β-actin and relativization to mean value of gene transcription, 8) ELISA detection of HMGB1 and selected...

Heterologous Expression of ABC Transporter in Catharanthus Roseus (L.) G. Don
Pomahačová, Barbora ; Dušková, Jiřina (advisor) ; Tůmová, Lenka (referee) ; Grančai, Daniel (referee)
In this thesis, the regulation of transport is investigated as a limiting factor in biosynthesis of plant secondary metabolites. CjMDR1 in Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don. has been selected as a model system of active transporters. CjMDR1 is a member of ABC (ATP-Binding Cassette) protein superfamily. Especially, in previous reports it was found to transport preferably berberine in its producing plant, Coptis japonica. In order to look into the role of the ABC transporter berberine was exogenously fed to Catharanthus roseus cell line and evaluate the transport of the compound. Based on a series of experiments in this study it can be concluded as follows. 1. Transport of berberine in wild Catharanthus roseus was not clearly associated with ATP-dependency. Using diverse inhibitors it was proved that berberine was not an exclusive substrate of native ABC transporters in Catharanthus. Alternatively berberine might be transported via H+-antiport or efflux transporters from MATE (multidrug and toxic compound extrusion) group which was previously found in other heterologous plants (Yazaki, 2005). In reality in Catharanthus some effect of pH on plasmatic membrane on berberine transport has been observed. However, the exact mechanism of berberine transport on vacuolar and cell level was not fully uncovered...

Benefits of sport activities for people with cerebral pa/sy in adolescence and maturity age
Jamrichová, Jana ; Hájková, Vanda (advisor) ; Durdilová, Lucie (referee)
Possibilities and benefits of sport activities for people with cerebral palsy in Czech republic The aim of this work is to determine what are the possibilities and benefits of sports for people with cerebral palsy in the Czech Republic. To detect what kinds of different sports for people with disabilities are offered, as well as to find out various sports clubs, associations and organizations that allow these activities. Another aim of my work is to describe the history of sports for people with physical disabilities. The part of it will also be legislative documents behind the development of sports for people-with-disabilities. I would also like to assess what benefits may have sports on amateur and professional level for people with cerebral palsy and what are the hazards, which are related to sports activities. In terms of not only physical (it is quite controversial, what sports are appropriate for people with cerebral palsy considering the contraction of muscles and tendons), but also in terms of psychological-and-social. In the practical part, I will through structured interviews discuss the above topics with several athletes with cerebral palsy with whom we meet regularly at trainings in the Sporting Club Jedlicka Institute in order to complement the theoretical information about the specific...
