Health and social care for cancer patients in university hospital Pilsen
RATHOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis focuses on the health and social problem of oncologically ill patients in Plzeň university hospital. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and an empiric part. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the occurence of oncological illnesses and gender distribution. Further on, the theoretical part describes some of the examination methods, the causes of oncological illness origin and subsequently it deals with the social influence on the patient who is oncologically ill and under palliative care. In the last section of the theoretical part health and social services provided by the University Hospital in Plzeň for oncologically ill patients are described. The goal of the practical part was to describe the problem of oncologically ill patients in the Plzeň University Hospital from a multidisciplinary care point of view. To gain information I used the methodics of a qualitative research. Semi-structured interviews were used as a tool for the research. Semi-structured intervews were carried out with ten patients who were getting treatment in the Plzeň University Hospital. Research questions were the following. How do patients in the oncological department perceive the care provided? What problem within multidisciplinary care do patients perceive as the most serious one? The result of the thesis is the finding that patients in Plzeň University Hospital are satisfied with health care, with the treatment as well as the behaviour of caretaking staff. The most serious problem they perceive within the provision of multidisciplinary care is the fact that they have not met any social worker or psychologist. Services of these two members of a multidisciplinary team have not even been offered to them. Many patients have told me that they were missing this kind of help, they were left to solve all problems by themselves.

The analysis of dependence of the material deprivation of the households in the Czech Republic on the selected indicators
Cafourková, Magdalena ; Řezanková, Hana (advisor) ; Pecáková, Iva (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the material deprivation of the households with regard to the selected indicators, i.e. the costs that the household spends on housing, a region where the household is located, the number of the members and the dependent children in the household, age and sex of a head of the household, and economic activity and education level of the members of the household. The thesis aims not only to prove the dependence among the selected indicators but also to quantify this dependence by using the odds ratio. The individual effect of all variables was proven except of the one related to the number of the dependent children. It was also demonstrated that the factors constituting a threat for the households by a material deprivation rate vary by the different age groups. However, it can be concluded that across all the age groups, the material deprivation rate is determined by the sex of a head of the household, education level of the members of the household, and the costs that the household spends on housing.

Effect of individual protestion to members of the Fire and Rescue Service of Prague in different stress situations.
NÁVRATOVÁ, Šárka
Social and economical development of human society, in this case on the example of Czech republic, logicaly leads to improvement and invention of new individual protection instruments. Maximum protection in proportion to the lowest mobility limitation is the purpose. Diploma thesis explains, firstly, the basic concepts to make clear, what the issue concerns and getting better understanding for people.. It also deals with clothing comfort for firefighters. Clothing comfort can be divided into four groups and as the complex of essential for proper performance and convenience of trespassing firefighter. It is a condition where the optimal physiological functions of the body and neither clothing nor the environment does not create discomfort. Next section of diploma thesis describes the personal protective equipment to protect life and health trespassing firefighter and thereby increase its work in various special occurrences. Each unit of firefighters should be equipped with personal protection equipments, and instructed on how their use it, maintenance and periodic inspection. Another section of the theoretical part is devoted to the means of individual protection, which also protects the body of firefighter and his respiratory system. There are the types of breathing apparatus and a description of the knowledge that a firefighter must have to use the breathing apparatus to be optimized in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and do not endanger the life of the user. Term minute ventilation is there also explained. Each person has a unique minute ventilation, which is very individual and depends on the work performed. Next point is the kinds of chemical protection suits, which are used during interventions, where the environment is contaminated with hazardous substances. The work of firefighters affects also negative effects. This issue is discussed in the next chapter, which describes the negative effects caused by the occurrence itself and the negative effects caused by climatic conditions at the location. The particular hierarchy of the fire brigade described in the next section, that deals with the General Directorate of Fire Rescue, the Fire Corps Rescue of country and fire protection units and their categories. The types of hazardous substances under the Chemicals Act and in accordance with the Order of chemical services are the last point of the theoretical part. The experiment is described and evaluated in practical part of diploma thesis which was attended by seven firefighters from the firefighter station Petřiny. Firefighters had to gradually undergo a prescribed route, they passed each time using a different suit. In order to avoid skewing the results, the firefighters between attempts to allow sufficient time for stale and soothe the body. They were obtained evaluation parameters in this way that were in the part of result processed and evaluated for total and average air consumption. The values, that were obtained, were subsequently processed into tables and graphs and the results were solved by using comparison and statistical methods. Conclusion of the work is devoted to the evaluation of the optimal protection of the firefighters, proposing measures for improvement and verification of the hypothesis that the performance of member of Prague rescue service is limited by individual protective means in extreme climatic conditions and load performance.

Portrayals of men and women in the literature of 19th century with regard to the family influence on its members at particular life periods.
Slavíková, Inka ; Holubec, Stanislav (advisor) ; Blažková, Miloslava (referee)
In my thesis, I have analysed the influence of the family (and the position of the family members within the given roles) on individuals in their particular stages of life - childhood, teen years, adulthood and old age - literally life of a typical family of the 19th century - and its depiction in the Czech fiction of that time. The theoretical basis of the thesis was acquired from a number of professional publications, while the provided illustrations and citations from literary works of art and memoirs of 19th century authors have supported the practical confirmations of arising conclusions. Based on theoretical sources, it can be assumed that Czech families of the 19th century were usually characterised by a dominant position of men. A man was regarded as "the head of the family" not only within daily life, but also during official acts; a man decided about the future of his children, wife and other family members, but still the family showed him a great level of respect and reverence. Contrary to that, the position of women in the family was subordinate; women had no rights towards men, merely duties. The same was applied to the position of children and seniors; the position of seniors was also subordinate to a dominant role of men. Conclusions resulting from the analysis of findings drawn from...

Characterization of Antirecombinase Activity of Human FBH1 Helicase
Šimandlová, Jitka ; Janščák, Pavel (advisor) ; Cséfalvay, Eva (referee)
Homologous recombination (HR) is an essential mechanism for accurate repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs). However, HR must be tightly controlled because excessive or unwanted HR events can lead to genome instability, which is a prerequisite for premature aging and cancer development. A critical step of HR is the loading of RAD51 molecules onto single-stranded DNA regions generated in the vicinity of the DSB, leading to the formation of a nucleoprotein filament. Several DNA helicases have been involved in the regulation of the HR process. One of these is human FBH1 (F-box DNA helicase 1) that is a member of SF1 superfamily of helicases. As a unique DNA helicase, FBH1 additionally possesses a conserved F-box motif that allows it to assemble into an SCF complex, an E3 ubiquitin ligase that targets proteins for degradation. FBH1 has been implicated in the restriction of nucleoprotein filament stability. However, the exact mechanism of how FBH1 controls the RAD51 action is still not certain. In this work, we revealed that FBH1 actively disassembles RAD51 nucleoprotein filament. We also show that FBH1 interacts with RAD51 and RPA physically in vitro. Based on these data, we propose a potential mechanism of FBH1 antirecombinase function.
