Diplomová práce se věnuje informačním a komunikačním technologiím a jejich vlivu na konkurenceschopnost členských států EU. Konkurenceschopnost na makroekonomické úrovni je těžko uchopitelný pojem a o to nesnadněji měřitelný, práce se tak zaměřuje především na podniky působící v EU a na to, do jaké míry využívají ICT. Další oblasti srovnání členských států vedle využití ICT kapitálu a internetu představuje elektronické obchodování a kvalitativní stránka využití ICT, kterou lze vyjádřit schopnostmi uživatelů, mírou rozvoje ICT sektoru a vzděláním v technicko-technologických oborech. Práce je založena na předpokladu, že s rostoucí ekonomickou úrovní musí také růst využití ICT. The thesis focuses on the information and communication technologies and their impact on the competitiveness of the EU member states. The competitiveness on the macroeconomic level is an elusive unmeasurable concept, therefore the thesis focuses on the firms operating in the EU and on their ICT utilization rates. Apart from the use of ICT and internet, the thesis compares the EU member states from the perspective of e-commerce and qualitative aspects of the use of ICT such as the degree of development of ICT sector or education in fields STEM. The thesis is based on the hypothesis that increasing level of economic development of a country is linked with increasing use of ICT.
