Municipality fire protection with a view to economic assurance and material equipment of fire brigade units in the South Bohemian Region
FRÜHAUFOVÁ, Lenka
An important municipality tool for performing the rescue actions and for removing the disas-ter consequences, as well as, performing the population protection tasks, is a local voluntary fire brigade established and operated by a municipality in accordance with the Fire Protection Act. Municipal expenses designed for operation of these units include the region{\crq}s subsidies, investment and non-investment subsidies of the state and regional budget and municipality funding. This dissertation is aimed to compare the costs incurred by South Bohemian Region municipalities within their own competence to ensure the readiness for action of fire brigades in order to cover the regional fire protection territory in accordance with applicable legisla-tion. The thesis describes legal aspects of establishing the voluntary fire brigades, character-izes individual unit categories, providing details of their principal tasks. It also briefly com-ments on the budget-related rules for territorial regional administrative units and their budget structure, deals with the internal unit organization and informs on how the readiness for action is ensured. It presents results of the questionnaire survey and makes an analysis of the fire protection costs in 2006 and 2007 and of budgeted costs for 2008. The comparison with re-sults of another author dissertation and statistical yearbooks is also provided. The results, re-commendations and legal deficiencies are included at the end of the thesis.

Gypsies and their education in Czech and Slovakia
Ištvánová, Jana ; Kremličková, Marta (referee) ; Lorenzová, Jitka (advisor)
In my dissertation called "Gypsies and their education in Czech and Slovakia" I described and compared how Czech Republic and Slovakia approach to this ethnic minority. I chose these countries because oftheir geographic, cultural-historical and linquistical similarities, which in the past brought them together to one state. Now, when Czech Republic and Slovakia are sovereign states, we can find a lot of similar rules and lows in their legislature, education and how they approach to this ethnic. My dissertation describes history of gypsy ethnic; it maps in detail their walk-out from Asia, their migration to Europe and around Europe and their coming, moving and establishment in these countries. It compares positions ofthe population in each country, governrnent politics about gypsies in different time and possibilities how to integrate this ethnic minority to other population in these countries. The second part of my dissertation is about education possibilities of this ethnic minority, which these countries use in practice. I described methods, which help to integrate gypsy children in ordinary schools and altemative programs, which is not possible to use in general but which are used especially in areas with high concentration of gypsy population. There are comprehensive programmes in Czech Republic and...

The risk of chronic lesions after radiation therapy in patients with breast cancer
KŘÍŽOVÁ, Jana
Breast carcinoma is the most common cancer in women. In 2009, 5,975 new cases were diagnosed in the Czech Republic. One of the main treatment modalities is radiotherapy, which, besides bringing treatment effects, may also cause post-radiation changes that significantly influence patients? quality of life. The work focuses on monitoring the occurrence of post-radiation changes following radiotherapy as part of breast carcinoma treatment ? chronic radiodermatitis, hypodermic fibrosis and lymphedema, all at Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute Brno. After the end of radiotherapeutic treatment these changes are monitored by the physicians during regular checks and classified on the RTOG/EORTC scale. I used a set of 98 patients (97 women and 1 man) treated at the Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute Brno between 1998 and 2009 who suffered from the mentioned post-radiation changes. The data was assessed upon the purpose, radiation equipment used for the radiotherapy, and the degree of the studied conditions. Occurrence of lymphedema prior to radiotherapy was statistically analysed as well. All the patients received the same dose of 50 Gy with a standard fractionation scheme of 25 fractions by 2 Gy, and therefore no evaluation of coincidence of the applied dose with the risk of chronic changes occurrence was possible. Consequent changes occurred in 74 % of the studied patients. Statistics shows that patients who received radiation treatment of mamma or chest and regional lymph nodes were at higher risk of suffering chronic changes to the skin and higher risk of lymphedema, but at lower risk of hypodermic fibrosis.

Rescue Stations for Wounded and Disabled Animals and Following the Daily Activities of Pigeons at Rescue Stations in Jinonicíce
Hudcová, Petra ; Battaglia, Daniel (referee) ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor)
The dissertation discusses first - aid stations for injuried and handicapped animals. The first part describes the origin of the National Net of Stations for injuried and animals handicapped otherwise (NNS), the activity and function of these stations and conditions that a station must fulfil to be accepted in the National Net of Stations. The second part of the dissertation discusses observation of pigeons in the first - aid station in Jinonice and describes this station. The pigeons were signed and after this they were observed and their activity was noted down. When compared to other specialist literature, no new information was found, the pigeons spend their time mostly bysleeping or sunbathing. The text contains return reports of birds ringed in Jinonice station and charts of surveys of recieved, decayed and released animals from the NNS. The sence of the dissertation rests in charting the net of stations for handicapped animals, their cooperation with schools and mentioned methodology of tagging pigeons. Methods of observing animals and their realization can be interpolated to biology, also. Students would get acquainted with the working of a station for handicapped animals and they would learn patience during observing and respect for nature, too. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Gender audit of local policy

Islet transplantation represents an alternative approach in the treatment of patients with type-1 diabetes mellitus. It makes possible to give insulin-producing tissue to patients, which could not underwent surgery operative due to ill health. The second benefit of tissue transplantation is utilization of pancreases unsuitable for organ transplantation in term of surgical criteria. The dissertation includes two studies focused on study of some problems of islet transplantation. In the first study was tested a new method for induction of microchimerism by bone marrow transplantation and its effect on islet allograft survival. We reported, that short-term tacrolimus therapy significantly prolonged insulin independence in fully allogeneic rat model even if the immunosupresants were discontinued. Conditioning of recipients with bone marrow cells transplantation had not additional effect. In the second study there is presented an approach for imaging of intrahepatally-sited islets. The technique is based on labeling of islets by non-toxic superparamagnetic agent during two day culture. After transplantation islets are imaged as hypointense spots on T2 weighing magnetic resonance sections in both in vitro and in vivo experiments. Outstanding changes in MR images were demonstrated during acute rejection of...

Analytical Evaluation of Biologically Active Substances by Chromatographic Methods
Pasáková, Ivana ; Sochor, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Nobilis, Milan (referee) ; Holčapek, Michal (referee)
Introduced dissertation thesis deals with the development and validation of the chromatographic methods for analytical evaluation of selected biologically active substances. HPLC coupled with UV and MS detection was chosen for determination of analytes, because of the dominant role of the HPLC in pharmaceutical analysis. The theoretical part is focused on the theory of chromatographic methods and topics of the experimental work. At first, summary of all the chromatographic methods is briefly introduced and subsequently, the most common analytical method HPLC is described in details. The next part deals with the mass spectrometry. Thank to its high sensitivity and ability to provide structural information about the analytes, MS became an indispensable tool not only in modern pharmaceutical analysis. Besides MS theory and instrumentation, its applications and new trends are also mentioned. Last chapters deal with the transdermal application of drugs, specifications of antiretroviral therapy and especially they provide basic information about the physical - chemical and biological properties of analysed substances. The experimental part is consisted of the original research papers with appropriate comments divided into two thematic sections. The first one is composed of three papers focused on analytical...
