The develompent of unemployment in the Czech republic nad Slovak Republic from 1993 until now
Janečková, Petra ; Prachař, Ondřej (advisor) ; Vebrová, Ludmila (referee)
The aim of my bachelor's degree study is an analysis of the unemployment rates in the Czech and Slovak Republics. It is followed by a comparison which includes an outline of reasons of these developments. The first part includes explanations of terms connected with the macroeconomic index, and an evaluation of the up-to-date situations in the two countries. The second, practical part, includes the description of the initial conditions before launching the process of transformation, and also the developments in the two states under review. The last part of the study is a comparison of the developments of the unemployment rates in the Czech and Slovak Republics. It also deals with the possible causes of the two countries' different scenarios.

Reklama ve veřejném prostoru
Holasová, Tereza
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of advertising in public space. As it is a today's phenomen, it spreads very fast and it's out of control. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of important concepts, includes a typology of advertising media and public space, outlining the background and defines the scope of the joint advertising and public space. This essay also includes a summary of the main negative aspects of advertising in public space and its possible benefits. In connection with the problem, there is also mentioned the current legislation that deals with this topic even if only marginally. And at last, but not least, there are outlined the possible trends. The task of the practical part is the analysis and evaluation of several examples of the use of advertising media in public space, using the methodics and garden architectural design of public space. The location of the project is a problematic Sportovní street in Brno. The results lead to a clear conclusion that advertising in various degrees degrades specific public space and deprives it of many essential functions, including the residential function.

Studies on DCL-1, receptor of dendritic cells, using NMR techniques
Pospíšilová, Eliška ; Kavan, Daniel (advisor) ; Schneider, Bohdan (referee)
(EN) The DCL-1 receptor (CD302) is predominantly expressed on the surface of dendritic cells and according to its sequence similarity DCL-1 is classified as a C-type lectin. Since its extracellular domain lacks single motives for carbohydrate binding in coordination with calcium ions, it is probable that the process of carbohydrate binding does not occur through the classical pathway as described in the case of mannose receptor or the DEC-205 receptor. Due to its colocalization with F-actin there is a presumption, that DCL-1 plays a role in cell adhesion and migration. Another role of DCL-1 could be the participation in endocytosis and subsequent targeting to lysosomes. DCL-1 was also put in connections with various pathologies in last few years Experiments described in this work can be divided into three sections. In the first part I dealt with production of a protein construct based on the extracellular domain of DCL-1. The protein was produced in M9 minimal medium with the only source of nitrogen 15 NH4Cl and the only source of carbon 13 C glucose. The result was 15 N,13 C labelled protein, used for NMR measurements. The second part is dedicated to the analysis of NMR spectra, which enabled us to assign frequencies of protein backbone and aliphatic side chains atoms. On the base of the backbone...

Pro-cyclicality of Fiscal Policy
Málek, Jan ; Zápal, Jan (advisor) ; Martišková, Monika (referee)
There is large evidence that fiscal policy in many countries tends to pro-cyclicality. This phenomenon is often observed in emerging countries but might also be present in developed ones. It is unclear why so many countries follow apparently sub-optimal fiscal policy. First part of this thesis reviews existing literature concerning pro-cyclical behavior of fiscal policy. It shows in which countries and under which circumstances pro-cyclicality has been present. Furthermore, models explaining pro-cyclicality of fiscal policy are introduced. The remainder of this thesis surveys fiscal policy making in Europe. We show that after subtraction of automatic stabilizers from government budget and considering only discretionary part of fiscal policy, pro-cyclicality of fiscal policy is also present.

Role of STAT3 signalling in oncogenesis and cancer therapy
Machalová, Veronika ; Hodný, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Brábek, Jan (referee)
STAT3 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3) is considered to be one of the possible targets of cancer treatment. The ability of STAT3 constitutive activation to form tumors is a foundation of such theories. Additionally, constitutively activated STAT3 is present in many types of cancer with high occurrence, such as breast and prostate carcinoma. This protein is required in normal body cells as well. STAT3 is a transcription factor targeting many genes that are essential for the cell. STAT3 is activated by phosphorylation of its tyrosine residue and homodimerization. Proteins transcribed with help of STAT3 function in cell cycle progression, cell growth, replication, negative regulation of apoptosis, and other roles, typical for cancer. Moreover, STAT3 is modulating mitochondrial function and maintaining ROS production in mitochondria, but in form of transcriptionally inactive monomers. The purpose of this Thesis is to review known data about STAT3 in oncogenesis and by that, to show STAT3 has great potential to become the target of cancer treatment. This Thesis contains a short overview of known STAT3 inhibitors as well. Key words: Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3), JAK/STAT3 pathway, constitutive activation, cancer, tumor, inhibitor, mitochondria, apoptosis

Rezonanční srážky elektronů s molekulami
Formánek, Martin ; Houfek, Karel (advisor) ; Kolorenč, Přemysl (referee)
In the present work we study different approaches for solving the nuclear dy- namics of resonant electron molecule collisions. Namely, we review two methods addressing this phenomenon which are a local complex potential (LCP) approxi- mation and a nonlocal resonance model (NRM). We briefly discuss a numerical implementation of these methods. We show how to derive model parameters for both of them from fixed-nuclei scattering calculations and we implement them in the time independent picture of quantum mechanics. We compare their vibrational excitation cross sections for the diatomic molecule CO. Then we generalize the non- local resonance model for systems with more nuclear degrees of freedom. Output of our work is a computer code producing the vibrational excitation cross sections for systems with two degrees of freedom. We aim to use this code for studying a threshold behavior of the low-energy electron collisions with the CO2 molecule and therefore we review a current state of understanding for this phenomenon. Mea- nwhile we test the functionality of the code by comparing results with those of the LCP approximation on a simple 2D model system.

Study of chemical communication in the house mouse: a proteomic approach
Janotová, Kateřina ; Stopka, Pavel (advisor) ; Piálek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Vošlajerová, Barbora (referee)
Chemical communication of the house mouse is similarly as in other mammals, substantially complex and influence every social ineraction between individuals. Important part of mouse chemical signalling system is Major Urinary Protein complex (MUP). These proteins are known as pheromone-carriers that prolong longevity of the pheromones by retarding their evaporation from the scent mark. Their other role in chemical communication is direct signalling which is mediated by VNO. MUP have been shown to trigger both behavioural and physiological effects in recipient. Proteins belonging to the same family (lipocalins) as MUPs, have been found in other, mainly rodent, species. Although the information about these urinary lipocalins are, with exception of mouse, very limited, it is likely that their roles relies in chemical communication. The Ph.D. thesis is related to the urinary proteins in the house mouse and Mastomys coucha. Thesis contains four chapters represented by three published and one submitted manuscript. One aim of the thesis is to provide information about these proteins in the subspecies Mus musculus musculus which is widespread in the Czech Republic and which is much less studied when compared to Mus musculus domesticus. The part of Ph.D thesis is a review publication which summarizes recent...

Fiscal rules in the European Union
Výprachtická, Terezie ; Šmídková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Koprnická, Kamila (referee)
The first part of the thesis treats the fiscal rules of the European Economic and Monetary Union. It begins by introducing this union's inception and by discussing its set of fiscal rules - the Stability and Growth Pact, including its reform. The rationale for policy coordination and the need for fiscal rules in a monetary union are then investigated. The Stability and Growth Pact is then assessed from this point of view. The most important part of the paper is devoted to the analysis of whether the Stability and Growth Pact could be substituted by the disciplining effect of the financial markets. Our findings suggest that there is certain interaction between the financial markets and the governments' decisions on the fiscal policies and that this reaction has become stronger after the beginning of the latest financial and economic crisis. However, the institutional setup and market conditions in the European Union are such that this interaction is biased and thus we conclude that the Union needs to have fiscal rules. The second of the thesis concentrates on the golden rule of public finance. It reviews the main advantages and disadvantages of the potential implementation of this rule in the European Union. Often the question of the productivity of public capital is at the heart of the rule's discussions....

The Objectivity and Art Criticism
Pacáková, Pavlína ; KAPLICKÝ, Martin (advisor) ; KUBALÍK, Štěpán (referee)
This paper intends to answer the question of when and how we can consider a theatre criticism or review of a play to be more objective than another one. First we define the field of inquiry, art criticism and theatre criticism in particular. In doing so we describe how objectivity, truth, the author of a review and his or her intentions are related. We also explore various forms and functions of theatre criticism. While describing the process how criticism is created (perception, interpretation, evaluation and repeated search of arguments for the subjective view in the theatre piece itself) we identify how the different steps of such process influence the level of objectivity. At the end of the theoretical part this paper offers a synthesis of different criteria for objectivity in theatre criticism. The second part compares the criteria of objective criticism with a set of current theatre reviews in the daily press, weekly magazines and professional publications. We analyze ten reviews of Václav Havel's The Garden Party (Zahradní slavnost) directed by Dušan Pařízek at the Prague's Estates Theatre (Stavovské divadlo). This set of the ten reviews includes an article by the author of this paper herself. Based on the criteria described in the first part of the paper we evaluate reviews by Radmila Hrdinová, Marcela Magdová, Marie Reslová, Vladmír Just, Richard Erm, Vojtěch Varyš, Vladimír Mikulka, Vladimír Hulec, Milan Uhde and Pavlína Pacáková. The evaluation shows the criteria can distinguish the reviews on a subjective-objective scale. We conclude that an objective criticism fulfils several key demands: it openly defines the criteria of its evaluation, offers consistent reasoning, evaluates the theatre performance as a whole and not only as individual elements and helps the reader to make his own opinion and conclusion based on the given information.
