International and European Legal Regulation of Small Arms Trade
van der Weerden, Anna ; Scheu, Harald Christian (advisor) ; Ondřej, Jan (referee)
International and European Legal Regulation of Small Arms Trade Other types of weapons, having the very same extensive consequences on human lives in the sense of amount and kind of harm caused, are regulated by a global treaty. Why is the small arms trade not regulated by a global treaty as well? How is the small arms trade currently regulated on international and European level and how is it supposed to be regulated in the future? Are the Human Rights norms and the Humanitarian law applicable to the small arms trade? Is it possible to incur responsibility of the exporting state in case small arms were used to commit serious violations of Human Rights of inhabitants of a third country? Was there already any proceeding initiated concerning this matter before an international institution? This research paper aims to clarify the basic terminological discrepancies, reply to the above mentioned questions and at the same time emphasize the importance of this matter by outlining of the consequences that small arms cause in the region of Sub-Saharan Africa.

The exotic other and negotiation of Tibetian self: a study of modern Tibetian fiction of the 1980s
Hladíková, Kamila ; Andrš, Dušan (advisor) ; Kolmaš, Josef (referee) ; Maconi, Lara (referee) ; Slobodník, Martin (referee)
(ENGLISH) Proposed dissertation examines a so-far less discussed topic of modern Tibetan literature, which is for the purpose of this study defined ethnically, not as based on language of literary creation. Because of specific socio-historical and cultural conditions, modern literature in the Western sense has not emerged in Tibet until the second half of the 20th century. The emergence of modern Tibetan literature was, as in case of genesis of other Asian modern-style literatures, initiated by an encounter with another culture (i.e. 'Western', 'rational', 'scientific' worldview, which was in case of Tibet introduced through the communist China). In the beginning of the 1980s, this process was de facto enforced by the need (of Chinese as well as Tibetan elites) to establish this literature as an authentic Tibetan voice, affirming their will to modernization through Tibet's belonging to the PRC. At the same time, modern Tibetan literature emerged in a period of certain liberalization after the Cultural Revolution, which in Tibet manifested as a kind of 'national revival', oriented specifically on restoration of religion and related cultural heritage. During that period this literature thus served two seemingly contradictory interests. In Tibetan society it played mainly enlightening and didactic...

Slatinská, Vilma ; Vydrová, Hedvika (advisor) ; Housková, Anna (referee)
The topic of this thesis is the Poetics of the city in the initial period of Mario Benedetti' s creation - the major Uruguayan poet, novelist, essayist, and journalist. The work of Benedetti is clo sely associated with the Uruguayan society and, most of all, with its capital - Montevideo. Therefore, the first part of this work is dedicated to the historical development in this Latin-American country, which in many ways differs from the development of other countries from this region. I also concentrate this thesis on the local social situation and the position of the Uruguayan writers in it. Last but not lest, I focus on the specifics of the Uruguayan literature, in the first place on the Bernadetti' s generation, as well as on the general question of the mutual intluence of the city and the literature.

Half-automatic recognition of text structure
Šenkýř, Michal ; Skopal, Tomáš (referee) ; Kolman, Petr (advisor)
This thesis describes the design and implementation of an algorithm that, using some initial hints from the user, converts data in HTML documents generated from a database and inteded for human readability, into a structured form suitable for computer processing. The input document is assumed to have some structure (usually a visual layout) and the user must provide a sample of semantically labelled items in the document. The output is expected to reflect the semantic structure of the provided data. The resulting application is composed of an editor part which includes a graphical tool for easy labelling of sample items, and a server part, which includes a tool for the subsequent mass processing of additional documents. The application was tested on real estate advertising webs and the results of the testing were analysed. The thesis also surveys other existing applications based on similar principles and provides their comparison.

Phasal Periphrases in Portuguese
Jindrová, Jaroslava ; Zavadil, Bohumil (advisor) ; Černý, Jiří (referee) ; Svobodová, Iva (referee)
This dissertation aims to provide a survey of periphrastic aspectual constructions in contemporary European Portuguese. The research was initially conducted on periphrastic constructions in the two main Portuguese corpuses, the CETEMPúblico and the Corpus do Portugus, and was then followed by a semantic analysis. The main problem, according to the author, consists in the fundamentally different conceptions of aspect and the nature of verbal action in Czech and Portuguese. Given that the grammatical category of aspect has different contents in Czech and Portuguese, it is preferable to use the term aspectuality as a three-layer system of interacting categories of aspect, telicity, and the nature of verbal action. If the traditional Slavic aspect is to be expressed in Portuguese by other means at various levels of construction, Czech lacks a way to render the variety of meanings of Portuguese periphrastic constructions that represent the different categories of the nature of verbal action (Aktionsart). In the dissertation, aspectuality in Portuguese is considered a system of mutually correlated categories - aspect, the nature of verbal action, and the lexical semantics of the verb. In Portuguese, the category of the nature of verbal action employs specific means that can be separated from morphological means...

Černý, Jiří ; Haškovcová, Helena (advisor) ; Slabý, Marek (referee)
The topic of this work is non emergency ambulance service ( i.e. transport of wounded and/or sick persons). The theoretical part is devoted to the history of medical transportation services from ancient times to the present both in the world and the Czech Republic. An historical overview is supplemented by information on the development of technical means of ambulance services. The other part is a description of existing systems of ambulance services, particularly the transfer of patients from home to the place of medical care and back or, as the case may be, between health centres in selected countries of the world. In the practical part of diploma work the results of a qualitative research are published. In the first half of 2008 the Czech Ministry of Health published its design of services to be paid by patients- among others - also some transport services. The Ministry included this proposal in the framework of health care reform. The topic of research was to determine the readiness of patients to a significant co-payment (deductibles) for medical transportation costs. A hypothesis was initially established that patients in the Czech Republic were not ready for to the substantial co-payments (deductible coverage) of the costs. The research has confirmed the hypothesis. The work is accompanied by...

Gait disorders in hereditary neuropathy
Linhartová, Petra ; Horáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Truc, Michal (referee)
Hereditary motor sensory neuropathy (CMT) exhibits characteristic symptoms, i.e. specific gait impairment. Little detailed information has been written on the gait analysis of this disease. The aim of this work was to collect information about gait disorders in patients with CMT, to perform a threedimensional gait analysis and prove the effectiveness of rehabilitation. There was a detailed kinesiological analysis, muscle strength test and Coda Motion System gait analysis done on one patient. The patient has visited rehabilitation for 12 weeks and after, the whole spectrum of examinations were repeated. Within the framework of the gate analysis there were the joint ranges in flexion-extension of the hip, knee and ankle evaluated and compared with the normal gait. After undergoing rehabilitation there was subjective improvement in the quality of walking and objective improvement compared to the initial examination's findings. This acknowledges the results of the kinesiological analysis, muscle strength test and Coda Motion System gait analysis. Results of this work provide an overview of the patterns of gait disorders in CMT and support the importance and effectiveness of rehabilitation in improving gait quality in CMT patients.
