Comparative Analysis of Chemistry Education ( Czech Republic - Scotland)
Laburdová, Jiřina ; Klímová, Helena (advisor) ; Teplý, Pavel (referee)
Key words: Scotland, Czech Republic, education system, Chemistry education, Chemistry teaching, National Qualifications, Standard Grade, Intermediate, Higher, Advanced Higher Abstract: The education system in the Czech Republic is currently undergoing many changes. Education systems of foreign countries are often what inspire us to make these changes. The aim of this thesis is to describe the education system in Scotland and the way chemistry is being taught at secondary schools in this country. Further it tries to compare these to the education system and chemistry teaching in the Czech Republic and consider whether we can adopt any aspects of Scottish education. Apart from analysis of study plans and educational documents, research for this thesis included visits to chemistry lessons at three secondary schools in Scotland and interviews with teachers at these schools. In the text, cultural and historical context of Scotland related to the education system is mentioned briefly. Then the Scottish education system is explained and Chemistry teaching at secondary schools is described from the point of study plans and requirements. The following chapter contains a description of schools that have been visited, together with reports from selected chemistry lessons. Last chapter then compares various aspects of...

Self-concept in Motherhood
Kalodová, Lucie ; Loneková, Katarína (advisor) ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the topics of self-concept and motherhood. The part that deals with self-concept contains its definition, possible ways for it to be studied, its aspects, structure and dynamics. It also describes aspects examined in the research part i.e. self-concept clarity and self-esteem and provides an overview of commonly used methods for self-concept research. The part about motherhood formulates motherhood as a social construct and a biological aspect; it deals with the ambivalence to motherhood, motherhood and partner relationships, motherhood and work. Finally, it deals with the published research on the topic of self-concept in motherhood. The research part deals with self-concept clarity and self-esteem during motherhood. The aim is to explore self-concept clarity and self-esteem of mothers on parental leave with their first child old between (0.5-4 years) and compare them with mothers, which are also on parental leave with their first child old between (0.5-4 years) and work regularly; and also childless women aged 25 to 35 years. The following diagnostic tools were used that purpose: Self-concept Clarity Scale, Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale, NEO-FFI.

Rovnice geodetiky v prostoročasech s helikální symetrií
Tomášik, Miroslav ; Scholtz, Martin (advisor) ; Žofka, Martin (referee)
In this bachelor thesis we investigate geodesics in helically symmetric spacetimes in the framework of linearized Einstein's gravity. Work is an extension of paper by Bičák, Scholtz and Bohata [2], which is under preparation. First we introduce standard numerical methods for solving systems of ordinary differential equations. Next we present helically symmetric solution of linearized Einstein's equations and numerical code solving the geodesic equation on given background. We discuss conditions of existence of helically symmetric solution and finally we present selected results obtained by numerical simulations. We give present few particular examples of geodesics, selected phase portraits obtained by the method of the Lyapunovov exponents and visualize the causal structure of helically symmetric spacetime.

Chivalry in Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"
Malá Štěpánková, Jana ; Znojemská, Helena (advisor) ; Čermák, Jan (referee)
1 Thesis abstract The thesis is concerned with the reflection of chivalry and chivalric culture in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and with the relation of his testimony to the social reality of the late Middle Ages. Chapter 1 introduces the chosen topic in relation to the specific character of the Tales, of the context of the period, and of Chaucer's life. It specifies the aim of the thesis, deals with its limitations, and outlines the criteria and the structure of the analysis. Chapter 2 presents the origin and the development of the knight along with the formation of the code of chivalric virtues and the literary constituent of the phenomenon of chivalry until the end of the fourteenth century and identifies two fundamental chivalric archetypes in the characters of the Knight and the Squire from "The Prologue". Chapter 3 pursues manifestations of chivalry throughout the Tales across genres except romances and analyses their reflection with respect to the narrators of the tales. The analysis first focuses on the chivalrousness of the knightly characters (The Franklin's Tale, The Physician's Tale, The Manciple's Tale, The Monk's Tale, The Clerk's Tale, The Man of Law's Tale, The Merchant's Tale) and then on the signs of the influence of chivalric virtues and culture on the non-knightly characters (The Miller's...

Frobenius tests of primality
Hora, Jan ; Drápal, Aleš (advisor) ; Holub, Štěpán (referee)
Title: Frobenius primality tests Author: Jan Hora Department: Department of algebra Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Aleš Drápal, CSc. Dsc. Supervisor's e-mail address: drapal@karlin.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: In the present work we study Extended Quadratic Frobenius primality test. We study its functionality, error probability and taken time. We will define ring R(n, c), in which the test works. We will describe its structure depending up primality of tested number n, and algorithm of Frobenius test. We will show, that test succeeds anytime the tested number n is prime. We will study the upper bound for error probability of the test. We will show that test fails iff certain elements of set R(n, c) are chosen, Set of that elements will be denoted G(n, c). We will find conditions that G(n, c) must fulfil, and with them we will discover, that Frobenius test eroor probability is at most 1 24 . We will analyse individual parts of algorithm and discover, that one cyclus of Frobenius test can be done with approximately 2 log n multiplications in Zn. Finaly the teoretical estimates will be compared with practical results. Keywords: primality test, Frobenius automorfism, cyklic group, roots of one 1

Permo-Carboniferous silicified trunks from Intra-Sudetic and Krkonoše-Piedmont Basins: Taxonomy and Instrumental Analysis
Matysová, Petra
Silicified woods of the Permocarboniferous abundantly occur in a Czech part of the Intra Sudetic Basin and Krkonoše Piedmont Basin. They grew in Westphalian and Stephanian, about 300 million years ago. They were firstly mentioned in the second half of the 19th century. Exactly speaking, they represent silicified stems of the Permocarboniferous arborescent plants that belong to five palaeobotanical divisions of evolution grades Pteridophyta and Gymnosperms. There are still a lot of unanswered questions related to the origin of this silicified wood. One aim of this work is to describe the way of silicification which would be best suited to environmental conditions in these two basins. Up to now, the relationship between the actual anatomy of the wood and a specific way of their permineralization has not been clarified from the petrographic point of view. Thin sections of silicified stems were first studied by light and polarized-light microscopy and then cathodoluminescence spectroscopy and electron microscopy with EDX analysis. Differences in quartz crystallinity in individual original plant tissues have been obvious, e.g., macro- and microquartz crystals were present, mostly respecting structures of plant tissues, spherulitic chalcedony sometimes crystallizing irrespectively of these tissues, and...

Medial muck-raking of sexual affairs in fold in czech press in spring 2010
Šulcová, Jana ; Nečas, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Gerbery, Juraj (referee)
The thesis "Medial muck-raking of sexual affairs in the Church in Czech press in spring 2010" through the use of medial ruts, stereotypes and logic, inquires into medial texts from the springtime 2010, which have referenced to sexual affairs in Catholic Church. Based on medial theories (gatekeeping, social construction of reality, agenda setting etc.) the thesis follows up the reflection of the theme and specifics of media discourse. This view is complemented with interviews with members of the Church, which give the thesis out-of- media extent. Qualitative part of the thesis takes sexual affairs in Church as illustrative theme, which is meant in connection with the Roman Catholic Church reflected by Czech media. The thesis also attempts to generalize the actual medial reflection of the Church on the background of current medial trends. It tries to offer a way how to improve the relationship between two part of culture - media and the Roman Catholic Church. To put the thesis into context it will be provided with information about history of the Roman Catolic Church and relationship of Czech society to matters of the church, because it determinates perception of medial news about this theme.

The qualitative research of motivation aspects of crisis intervention workers in a broader social frame
Vacková, Petra ; Holda, Dalibor (advisor) ; Humpl, Lukáš (referee)
The first objective of this thesis is to describe motivational aspects of members of The Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic in a broader social frame which brought the to the selection of a specialization as members of post-traumatic care teams within The Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic. In the centre of the exploration there are questions of their motivation for a selection of their specialization and also questions about their expectations from the specialization, questions of their actual experience and of their value tendencies. The other objective of this thesis is to compare data from interviews with firemen with data from interviews with workers of psychosocial crisis intervention who were respondents of a pilot research. The theoretical part of the thesis describes basic definitions of topical dealt with in the research such as motivation, needs, crisis, crisis intervention, workers of crisis intervention, The Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic, firemen and qualitative research. The second practical part of the thesis presents a qualitative research aiming to describe motivational aspects of firemen. The main data collection method are semi-standardized interviews with 9 firemen - members of post-traumatic care teams from 5 district and 8 different fire brigade stations of the Czech Republic....

The media image of Joseph Goebbels in the Czech press between 1933 and 1945
Houzarová, Zuzana ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Suk, Pavel (referee)
The dissertation The Media Image of Joseph Goebbels in the Czech press between 1933 and 1945 deals with the way the personality of Joseph Goebbels is constructed in media contents. The text introduces basic concepts of media studies such as ideology, hegemony, discourse, stereotypization and power. The theme of media image construction is treated with the emphasis on historical context and the actual distribution of political power in concrete periods of democratic and totalitarian society, that had evident consequences on media functioning. Historical context is essential for the interpretation and understanding of construction of Joseph Goebbels's image and its development. The text reveals the structure of media image of Joseph Goebbels as a complex constructed between 1933 and 1945 in the Czech press and then shows the differences in Joseph Goebbels's personality points of view of daily journals in selected periods.
