Currently we are experiencing a boom imaging methods. We are constantly improving their accessibility, their distinctive abilities and the possibility of using both in research and in clinical practice. They penetrate well into psychiatry, where he tries as well as in other fields to shed light etiology of diseases contribute to their diagnosis and treatment. The cost of are large, the cost of execution of each test is different, can Thus burden on public budgets in different ways, so it is necessary to were determined and the proper indications. What is the significance of these methods in determine the incidence of brain structural abnormalities in patients with affective disorder and the implications of the findings for these abnormalities alone patients, the aim of the present study.

International Terrorism in the context of Contemporary Mass Media
Midulová, Katarína ; Druláková, Radka (advisor) ; Rolenc, Jan Martin (referee)
The aim of the Master's thesis is to analyze the phenomenon of international terrorism as a process of communication which exploits the pattern of contemporary mass media. The thesis will result in a practical application of findings of this analysis on chosen recent terrorist attacks. It will mainly focus on evaluating whether the patterns of terrorism as striving for publicity are still present and if/how they have changed with the arrival of web-based communication. First chapter of the thesis is dedicated to defining and framing terrorism. It also gives a brief insight to historical roots of a terrorist's need for attention. Second chapter introduces mass media as a theoretical concept and as a tool in the communication strategy of a terrorist. The final chapter examines chosen attacks in years 2010 and 2011 through the prism of media-centered strategy. It shows almost no changes in the strategy, however, there is a solid evidence for a terrorists' ability to take advantage of the Internet as a mean to enhance the effect of their activity, e.g. recruitment of adherents, resource of information, and spreading messages.

A comparison of two different routes of administration of L-carninite on antiacetylcholinesterase activity of 7-methoxytacrine.
Novotná, Petra ; Vopršalová, Marie (referee) ; Herink, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this work was to test the ability of L-carnitine (KAR) to increase the permeation of indirect parasympatomimetic 7-methoxytacrine (MEOTA) through the blood-brain barrier. The monitoring of acetylcholinesterase activity (AChE) in the parts of the brain chosen served as index of changes presumed. All experiments were performed in laboratory rats, drugs tested were given systematically. The modificated Ellman's method was used for the determination of the AChE activity. The principle of this method is based on hydrolysis of thiocholin. The prior administration KAR to MEOTA augmented the inhibition of AChE more in the frontal cortex, septum and basal ganglias and less in the hipocampus. Intraperitoneal administration of KAR was somewhat stronger in comparison with peroral one. The results obtained confirmed the hypothesis of augmentation of MEOTA AChE activity by means of previous KAR administration.

Bioactive peptides as a component of anti-aging cosmetics
Jatzová, Katarína ; Obruča, Stanislav (referee) ; Muthný,, Tomáš (advisor)
Ageing is a natural part of every human life cycle. During ageing there are lots of changes in the organism. One of the main pillars of the cosmetics industry is the development of active compounds that are fighting signs of skin ageing. The components as bioactive peptides are considered to be promising anti-ageing products, mainly because of the possibility to precisely define their chemical structure and therefore achieve more effective biological targeting. One of the signs of skin ageing is the weakening of the connections between epidermal cells and the extracellular matrix, decreasing expression of adhesion molecules and molecular components of dermo-epidermal connection. The most abundant adhesive receptors in the skin are integrins. Their ligands are extracellular matrix molecules, e. g. laminin or fibronectin. The minimal recognition sequence of integrins receptors is the amino acid motif arginine- glycine- aspartic acid (RGD). This sequence is also very interesting in terms of cosmetic applications because it provides the ability to create new and effective bioactive peptides. The subject of present work is basic safety testing of four peptides with RGD motif. A sequence of three peptides was modified by addition of glycine amino acids, or alanine. The expected effect was to improve interaction with integrin receptors. In each of the sample, levels of endotoxin was determined in order to exclude any possible interfering effects on the viability of cells. Subsequently, in NIH3T3 mouse fibroblasts viability was monitored by MTT assay and morphology. The quantity of obtained protein had been determined to increase data interpretation relevance.
