Iron metabolism, oxidative stress and progression of atherosclerosis
Syrovátka, Petr ; Kraml, Pavel (advisor) ; Poledne, Rudolf (referee) ; Vokurka, Martin (referee)
Ferritin, oxidative stress and insulin resistance Aim: The aim of our cross-sectional study was to assess the relationships between body iron stores, oxidative stress and impaired insulin sensitivity in a cohort of healthy men in primary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Methods: We examined 151 volunteers, aged 35- 60 years. Anthropometric parameters, markers of metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, inflammatory markers, parameters of oxidative stress and parameters of endothelial dysfunction were measured. Results: Ferritin correlated positively with waist circumference, body mass index, impaired insulin sensitivity, plasma triglycerides and inversely with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. We observed positive correlations between ferritin, oxidized low-density lipoprotein and advanced oxidation protein products after adjustment for age, waist circumference, body mass index and measured inflammatory markers (high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α). In a stepwise multiple regression analysis, triglycerides, waist circumference and elevated transaminases were independent determinants of the serum ferritin level. Conclusions: Our results provide evidence for a relationship between plasma ferritin and oxidative modification of lipids as...

Vyslocký, Martin ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
This diploma work is concerned with the analysis of Czechoslovak economy in years 1945 -- 1947, where is focusing on the most important economical and political revisions and their relation to the transition of the democratic society of Czechoslovakia to the socialistic society. This period represent very important part of Czechoslovak history that merit particular attention. With the analysis of chosen economical revisions it would like to come to the answer on the question, whether the process of socialization of Czechoslovak society started in 1948 or in the period of years 1945 - 1947. The diploma work is analyzing the most important problems of that period and trying to advert to different possibilities of the economical and political process. The goal of the work is not a deep assay of revisions but just the fact of connectivity of these revisions to the transition of the whole Czechoslovak society.

The analysis of river network evolution in Ethiopian Highland
Maca, Vít ; Vilímek, Vít (advisor) ; Kliment, Zdeněk (referee)
Ethiopian highlands is one of the most various tectonic areas in the world. It lies in close proximity to Ethiopian rift system in areas with volcanic landscape. As the main factors involved in development of river networks have been identified: volcanism, tectonics, erosion. The most important factor is the erosion, that work pays closer. Using the methods of remote sensing, GIS analysis and documenting the longitudinal and transverse river profiles were surveyed area of differentiation in the types of river networks, deep of river valleys, geological strata, etc. GIS and remote sensing analysis provided more supporting data. Crucial is the analysis of the longitudinal profiles. Five rivers was profiled: Guder, Muger, Jemma, Birr, Blue Nile. Knickpoints in profiles were identified and were divided into three types according to the majority factor involved in the formation: Active uplift entire Ethiopian highlands which activizate river erosion, active uplift smaller areas, lithological. Crucial for next outputs are knickpoints linked to active uplift entire Ethiopian Highland. Lokalization of thats, were profiles divided into subprofiles, representing phasis of erosion development of entire area. During the past 31 million years, were identified 3 phases with increasing incision rates. Furthermore,...

Using hislochemical analysis (NADPH-diaphorase) we have been investigating the influence of intraperitoneal administration of kainic acid, hypoxia and combination of both these factors on neurons of the hippocampus and on the primary auditory cortex in male rats of the Wistar strain. Kainic acid was administered to 12-day-old and I8-day-old animals, which were exposed to long-lasting repeated hypoxia from the 2nd till the 17th day of age in a hypobaric chamber (for 8 hours a day). At the age of 22, 90 and 365 days, the animals were transcardially perfused with 4% paraformaldehyde under deep thiopental anesthesia. Cryostate sections were stained to identify NADPH-d positive neurons that were then quantified in CA1 and CA3 areas of the hippocampus, in the hilus, dorsal and ventral blade of the dentate gyrus and in the primary auditory cortex. In 22-day-old animals with kainic acid administered 18th day of life both hypoxia and kainic acid increased the number of NADPH-d positive neurons in the hilus, CA1 and CA3 areas of the hippocampus and in the primary auditory cortex. On the contrary, kainic acid given to the hypoxic animals lowered the number of NADPH-d positive neurons in the dentate gyrus. In 90-day-old animals with kainic acid administered 18th day of life hypoxia and kainic acid given to both,...

Sickness and family benefits in Sweden and France
Petrová, Kateřina ; Chvátalová, Iva (advisor) ; Spirit, Michal (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to evaluate selected social security systems in Sweden and France. It is conducted through comparative analysis of sickness and family benefits. Document is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the theoretical introduction of the concept of social security and the definition of terms such as social security or social policy. The second chapter is dedicated to the Swedish social security. It contains a description of the basic characteristics of the Swedish social security and deep study of the sickness and family benefits. Chapter three uses the same structure as the previous chapter but with a focus on France. The fourth chapter compares the historical context of social systems, specifies significant differences in sickness and family benefits, the concept of family policy and gender equality in both countries.

Analysis of the Price Convergence of CR towards EU
Havrlant, David ; Pánková, Václava (advisor) ; Mandel, Martin (referee) ; Singer, Miroslav (referee)
The price level convergence of the transition economies towards the reference economies is linked to the relative price of nontradables, which is explained by the total factor productivity differentials in tradable and nontradable sector. Basic concept is offered by the Balassa Samuelson model and its modifications. Testable equations are derived from these models, and the panel data approach is applied for their estimation. The results indicate faster growth of the relative price of nontradables in transition economies as succession of higher growth rate of the total factor productivity in tradable sector. Hence estimated models confirm the price level convergence of transition economies towards the reference economies. The analyses of price dynamics of the complementary field, i. e. of the tradables, follows, and the basic concept is represented by the rational bubble hypothesis. The stress is putted on the impact of the word prices on the price levels of the Czech Republic. After a cointegration analysis of the time series is carried out, the influence of the word prices of tradable commodities is estimated within a vector error correction model and regression analysis. This cost factors analysis is afterwards related to the export dynamics of the Czech Republic, and models suitable for quantitative analysis of export dynamics as well as its prediction based on vector error correction model and regression analysis are evaluated. Their forecasting ability is assessed within a simulation of ex-post forecasts and a root mean squared error. The aim is to consider the relationship between the price levels and the export dynamics, for the relation of both variables evaluated within the Granger causality seems to be less straightforward then the standard export equations suggest, and the estimated equations confirm significant influence of the export dynamics on the price level.

Analysis of technical solutions for power supply of traction power line
Zlámal, Marek ; Bušov, Bohuslav (referee) ; Valenta, Jiří (advisor)
This work is the analysis of power supply for railway lines with voltage 25 kV AC. The single-phase supply has resulted in a number of problems, such as undesirable side effects associated with the one way power supply, distortion of current and voltage curve using DC engines in olders types of locomotives. Text deals with railway electric power equipment, especially with metal enclosed switchgear, insulated with air or sulfur hexafluoride. There is been elaborated in more detail the design solutions, advantages and disadvantages of their use. Methodology of necessary calculations for designing and dimensioning of traction switchgear is described later in this text, practical example for specific conditions included.

Use the activation of the deep stabilization system in the prevention of injuries in hockey players
OBSTOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis deals with issue of activation of the deep stabilization system in the prevention of injuries in ice hockey players. The aim of practical part was to descripe the theoretical knowledge of the deep stabilization system. In the thesis were presented knowledge of ice hockey. The practical part of the thesis is processed by the qualitative research method. To obtain secondary data was collected anamnesis of all probands. then was made the input and output of kinesiology analysis. The data and research results were published in the form of case reports. In the practical part of my thesis, I tested the 4 probands, ice hockey player a premier league team at the age of 22-24 years. I compared changes in the values obtained during the input and output kinesiological analysis with spacing of 8 weeks. During this time I have seen each proband 8x. The classic hockey training was included in the group A specific set of exercises to activate HSS. In group B was performed only classic hockey training. The probands had repeated problems with muscle contusion, stretching the muscles, rupture of the face, pain in the lumbar spine, pain in the groin, stretching the ligaments (knee, ankle joints), and pain in the knee joints. The aim of this study was to compare the efficiency of activation of concrete at HSS probands (hockey players) in the prevention of accidents in comparison with the frequency of injuries in hockey players without activating the HSS.Another aim was to create a specific set of exercises to activate HSS, which would be included in the classic hockey training. At the initial examination was detected in all probands insufficiency diaphragm, pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles. When the exit examination at the end of the investigation was a reduction in these pathological signs in only one proband. However, research carried out in such a large issue was not sufficient, as their number of respondents and the duration of therapy. Because of this main could not be filled with work or unequivocally answer the research question. This thesis can be used as educational material for the clinical practice of physiotherapists, physiotherapy students for coaches field hockey and ice hockey players themselves. This bachelor thesis may be a stimulus for further research activities in this area.
