Assembling a Medical Condition. Adermatoglyphia Case.
Iormark, Daniel ; Tremčinský, Martin (advisor) ; Tesárek, Jan (referee)
The thesis addresses the adermatoglyphia medical condition. It used the theoretical framework based on the Foucauldian thought and ANT ideas as well as the mix of methods they suggest, in order to study how various actors and forces are enacted by scientists in their articles in order to assemble adermatoglyphia. The thesis revealed that a detour into the identification and authorization requirements, the description of fingerprinting, the figure of a healthy patient, the presence of biopolitial, technological and biomedical dispositifs as well as the equal treatment of both human and nonhuman actors are characteristic for the studied articles. The contingency of adermatoglyphia on the mechanisms of biopolitics and disciplinary power, fingerprinting technological solution and western biomedical science, the pathologisaion of people with adermatoglyphia, the problems of betrayal and translation were addressed in the thesis. It also contains a macro perspective of adermatoglyophia as well as the attempt to use the concept of extended phenotype in order to equalize technomachines and intellectual constructs.
The Developmental Typology of the Fastest Growing Portion of the Metropolitan USA in the Decade from 2000 to 2010
Kohl, Ondřej ; Jeleček, Leoš (advisor) ; Ouředníček, Martin (referee)
This text was written as a diploma thesis of master's degree study course "Regional and political geography." It focuses on the development between the last two censuses, of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States. The economic crisis of the late 2000s has been a major turning point of the decade. The goal of the research was to create a developmental typology of the fastest growing metros. The text analyzes "classifiers" data in order to decide what developmental types have been among the metros. A major factor contributing to high population gains in the fastest growing metros was the migration induced by the housing bubble.
Red algae (Rhodophyta) in freshwater ecosystems
Štifterová, Anna ; Neustupa, Jiří (advisor) ; Škaloud, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on an interesting group freshwater red algae (Rhodophyta). This group comprises organisms from quite distant evolutionary clades, nevertheless sharing similar ecological requirements. They mostly occur in unpolluted lotic ecosystems. In the theoretical part, I summarized publications dealing with the general and ecological aspects of distribution of these algae (mainly of the genus Batrachospermum). For example, the issue of seasonal populational dynamics, or their role in succession of benthic algal communities. The practical part includes floristic data on findings of various species of freshwater red algae, predominantly from the Czech Republic. Furhermore, it includes observation on seasonality of a single population of Batrachospermum gelatinosum.

The role of migration in development of population structure in South Kazakhstan region
Kurbanov, Ismail ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Burcin, Boris (referee)
The given master's thesis is devoted to the research of migration role in the demographic development of the population structure of South Kazakhstan region in the period from 1999 to 2008. The region differs from other regions by a relatively high birth rate a low death rate and a high migratory exchange, both in an internal migration and in interregional migration. On the one hand, South Kazakhstan region is a donor for other regions in the country, and, on the other hand, is a recipient in international migration. On this basis the research considers migration role in the change of the total number of the population, and also in the changes of sex-age structures of the population which is exposed to changes owing to migration. The urgency and importance of the given research consists in considering the role of migration in changes of the population of the region. While considering the general changes, which migration makes in population structure, the streams of migration were divided into international and interregional migration. That's why this research shows the level of the influence of international and interregional migration on changes of the population structure. Key words: Kazakhstan, South Kazakhstan region, population development, development of age- sex structure, the role of migration.
DISH - archeological evidence and frequencies in the present population.
Peigerová, Kateřina ; Likovský, Jakub (advisor) ; Kuželka, Vítězslav (referee)
The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of adult disability caused by Forestier disease among skeletal material in monastic burial grounds and to compare it with the frequency of the lay cemeteries. Five cemeteries of the High Middle Ages to the early modern period, were divided into groups according to age and sex. Also, we evaluated the radiographs, investigated the frequency of adult disability caused by Forestier disease in the population. It was found that the disease in skeletal and X-ray material occurred more frequently among men than women, and did not occure until the age of 40. Furthermore, we found that the higher occurence was among monastic funerals. And since there is an increase Forestier disease in the present population. The question is, whether the external conditions, hence increasing obesity in the population, have an impact on the occurrence of Forestier disease.

Dvořáková, Danijela ; Honusková, Věra (advisor) ; Bílková, Veronika (referee)
An Analysis of the Legal Protection of the Disappearing Island States Population Rising ocean levels, which occur as a result of global warming, currently pose a threat to low-lying island states. The so-called "disappearing island states". This thesis deals with the legal protection of the disappearing island states population. The main objective is to provide a basic overview of protective instruments for this scenario, and assess their potential application. This text is divided into three parts. The first chapter deals with the concept of disappearing island nations, the reasons behind their disappearance and some of the consequences. Of particular importance is the subchapter, discussing the dissolution of the state in general. Even though in theory a state's dissolution due to climate change effects is viable, in practice this event has never occurred before. Therefore, international law does not offer a clear answer to the legal personality of the state that has been affected by climate change-induced sea level rise. This question needs to be answered in order to define the status of the population, and to define the tools that can be used to ensure its protection. The second chapter discusses the options a state has for the protection of its population through legal and non-legal means. The...
