Vuchtrlová, Ilona ; Nováková, Daniela (advisor) ; Blažková, Veronika (referee)
In the Czech Republic boarding schools are very unique. The specific features of this form of education are reflected in all aspects of the schools life. What makes boarding schools unique is the dormitory close knit community coupled with extracurricular life. Psychologists interested in school aged children always paid part of their attention to the extracurricular activities. As a result extracurricular activities play a more important role than the schools life. It often happens that the reference group of school children is not their class, but people they meet in these leisure activities. This thesis tries to understand the importance of extracurricular activities among children living in dorms. Living in a boarding school means "living" within a relatively narrow group of people. A deeper understanding of the aspects that shape the friendship between pupils within the boarding school is not only an interesting research question and a challenge, but it can be beneficial to all who work with pupils in boarding schools, whether as housemasters, teachers, carers, counsellors, and school psychologists.
