Development and Perception of the Sinjska Alka

! Abstract ! This paper presents Sinjska alka, a knight's jousting tournament that has been held for the last three centuries in the town of Sinj. The paper aims to enlighten even a layman as to not only the particularities of the tournament, but also the region where it is set: the region of Cetina. In this paper, I have strived to put the development of the Sinj alka itself into a broader historical context. It not only pays special attention to the proceedings of the tournament proper, but it also focuses on the accompanying elements (the festive procession, Alka costumes, Alka tournament arms and organization of the Alka Tournament Society). The paper is supplemented with historical and contemporary photos that should bring the visual aspect of this famous Croatian tournament closer. !

Specifics of Serbian and Romanian oral folklore - fairy tales of magic

The work is focused on mapping the historical circumstances of collecting oral folklore literature in the territory of Serbia and Romania and to cultural, religious, geographical and political influences that formed the folk traditions of these ethnic groups. It describes the role that oral folk literature played in the given environment. The historical circumstances and influences mentioned are then compared. The work provides an overview of translations of the anthologies of fairy tales from given languages into Czech. Then it focuses on a comparison of concrete fairy tales from chosen anthologies, comparison of particular fairy tale themes and elements of Serbian and Romanian fairy tales of magic.

Folk dance in national identity's construction: dance groups in Sarajevo during war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the years 1992 - 1995

The bachelor thesis examines the Cultural Art Societies and more precisely amateur folklore dance groups in Yugoslavia between 1945 - 1992 and in besieged Sarajevo during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The author comprehend the folklore dance as one of the tools used for creating the national identities during the period of the modern European states' construction. Within strengthening specific national identity, also the folklore dances were used for consolidating the political power and legitimization of the regime during the 20. century. The idea of the Yugoslavian worker self - management, which had been practised since the 1950s, spread to the cultural agenda as well. Workers groups were establishing the amateurs' artistic organizations, which maintained the cultural heritage - songs, dances and plays. The purpose of these organizations was to spread the Yugoslavian identity and to support a narrative about brotherhood and unity of all the Yugoslavian's nations. Along with the economic problems, the nationalistic tensions occurred in the 1980s and it caused the break-up of Yugoslavia induced by a series of wars. Short Non-Professional Film as a Genre of Contemporary Folklore. Options of Research on the Web in Anthropological and Sociological Perspective

This exploratory study aims to determine short non-profesional film as a relevant object of study for anthropology and sociology. Firstly, short non-profesional film is defined as a product of popular culture, but it shares many characteristics with the commercial film. Subsequently, short non-profesional film is described as a distinctive genre of contemporary folklore. This definition will be based on its comparison with the characteristics of contemporary legends. Subsequently, the study shows, which symbolic functions could short non-pofesional film hold in society and thus help to set up its symbolic order. Film's main function is to bring limit experiences into everyday context of the viewer. In this way, the watching of short non-professional film becomes a rite of passage that gives to the audience the opportunity to experience the state of liminality - violation of order - through suspense. This tension, however, the viewer experiences in a safe symbolic world of the film itself. In the final catharsis, which is enhanced by an elliptical plot, then it release the tension and restore social order. Magic fairytale and its metamorphoses in works of 17th to 19th century

Abstact This bachelor thesis focuses on examining the development of fairytales with an emphasis on literary adaptations of magic fairytales of the 17th to the 19th century. It consists of theoretical and practical parts. The first chapter discusses the basic characteristics of fairytales, its definition, features, classification. Furthermore, the work deals with theories about the origin of folktales and ways of their analysis from a scientific point of view. At the end of the this part fairytales are analysed as a literary genre. The second part represents writers Charles Perrault, Brothers Grimm, Karel Jaromír Erben Božena Němcová. Each of these authors approaches to their fairytale works in a different way, which is described in this section. In chapters of each writer, we first learn about their biography, as well as the time in which they lived, along with its historical and social background and last but not least, with their literary production with an emphasis on fairytale work. The last chapter contains a practical part of thesis. There is comparison of two magic fairytales, that appear in the works of authors from the second chapter.
