Body as a source and a carrier of information and emotion
Vacke, Ondřej ; PACEK, Martin (advisor) ; KORČÁK, Jakub (referee)
In my diploma thesis I will explore the body language of actors in detail and describe my own practical experience. Most of my experiences come from performance training, which I have gained whilst attending The Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). In the first part I describe physical movement in the early days of theater. Then I focus on analysing the concepts of nonverbal communication and its usage on the stage. I explore various different performance spaces and analyze their influence on the subsequent differences in physical acting-expressionism. The aim of my thesis is to explain how we can use our bodies during the process of preparing for performance and what can affect it. The benefit of this approach is the subsequent self-reflection, which forced me to deeply develop the basic techniques of physical communication. To be specific, the physical movements which lead to the transmission of emotion, feelings and information to the viewer.

University: Univerzita Karlova v Praze, Pedagogická fakulta, Katedra germanistiky Title: Gibberish. Is Denglish Our Fate? A Diachronic-synchonic Analysis of Anglicisms in Selected Periodicals Author: Bc. Lenka Kotvová Supervisor: PhDr. Dalibor Zeman, Ph.D. Pages: 144 The thesis deals with the issue of anglicisms in the German language, being based on the research of their presence in selected periodicals. In the theoretical part the individual linguistic terms are explained. Further, a brief, retrospective overview of the influences on German language is presented. Into focus comes the one these days most widely spread: the influence of English. Contrastive reactions to this phenomenon of both professional and lay public are introduced and attention is also drawn to the comparison of possible benefits and danger of the use of anglicisms. The practical part consists in own research, which comprehensively parses five selected periodicals in the terms of the presence of anglicisms. Both the quantitative and qualitative characteristics are examined and put through diachronic and synchronic comparison. The results of the research are finally confronted with the ideas and experience of lay public gained by the means of a questionnaire. Key words: Anglicism, Denglish, Periodical

The German Influence on Kahubian and its Confrontation with the Polisch Influence
Knoll, Vladislav ; Giger, Markus (advisor) ; Berger, Tilman (referee) ; Cybulski, Marek (referee)
The German influence on Kashubian and its confrontation with the Polish influence By Vladislav Knoll The theme of this dissertation is the evolution of the presence of the language contact phenomena in a particular example of a contact situation on the Slavonic-Germanic linguistic border in the 20th century. The research is based on the analysis of Kashubian according to the following three aspects: the extent of the Germanic (both Low and Literary German) interference in Kashubian, the diachronic view consisting in the evaluation of the impact of a rapid sociolinguistic turn (change of the 'High' Language from German to Polish) and the birth of a literary language seen from the point of view of contact linguistics. The study is divided into two main parts. The first half of the study is dedicated to a deep analysis of both the morphosyntactical and the lexical influence of German in Kashubian based on a corpus of a written record of spoken language from c. 1900. The second half of the study discusses the analyses of the presence of contact phenomena (described in the first part of the essay) in the selected literary works covering the period from the late 19th century up to the present day. The outcome of the dissertation is the identification and description of the fate of the German...

The Dynamics of the Borrowed Vocabulary of Modern Mongolian
Kapišovská, Veronika ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Hoffmannová, Jana (referee) ; Zikmundová, Veronika (referee)
The aim of the work is to describe, based on material of contemporary Mongolian language, the acceptance of foreign words into the contemporary Mongolian language and particular aspects of their adaptation as a dynamic and constantly developing process, in which, apart from regularities stemming from the nature of the predominantly recipient language, as well as the source language, the complex of non-linguistic factors plays an important role. The loanwords that were received into the Mongolian language during the period of close relations between Mongolia and Russia or the Soviet Union and in the period following the fall of the communist regime up to the present day are examined from the phonetic, morphological, semantic, lexical, and spelling points of views, all with respect to diachrony and synchrony. The aim is also to put the borrowing and presence of loanwords in the Mongolian language into a broader historic and social context and to characterise the current attitude of Mongolians to loanwords and to certain phenomena related to the loanwords.

Unintended impoliteness of Czech speakers in English. A Czech-English contrastive study
Vokurková, Iva ; Klégr, Aleš (advisor) ; Šaldová, Pavlína (referee)
In the world of today, cross-cultural interaction takes place every day at many levels of our lives, be it a study stay abroad, work, migration or simply a holiday. The world is getting more and more interconnected, the term "global village" is today more true than ever and with globalisation and European Union integration people from various parts of the world and with various cultural backgrounds are brought together and interact in one way or another. However, communication, although having a number of universally applicable features, is culturally (as well as socially, etc.) determined and therefore it is of great importance to the interactants from culturally different backgrounds to keep this fact in mind and be constantly aware that in different cultures people can be accustomed to achieving the same ends by using different linguistic (and other) means. The field that studies the differences as well as similarities between linguistic means and communicative patterns of different languages is called cross-cultural pragmatics. Its outputs and conclusions help to detect the pragmatic sources of miscommunications as well as bring a new perspective on the languages and cultures in question. This knowledge proves useful not only in foreign language classrooms but in all sorts of situations to all kinds of...

Využitie webových aplikačných frameworkov pri tvorbe informačných systémov
Špaňo, Martin ; Hoksza, David (referee) ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor)
Web application frameworks accelerate the development of web information systems. There are many frameworks available to developers these days. This work tries to find suitable criteria for their comparison. Three popular web frameworks based on Java programming language - Spring, Seam and Struts 2 were compared according to these criteria. The comparison includes the implementation of small information system in all three frameworks and performing measurements on these implementations. The results of comparisons and measurements were analyzed and recommendation for the deployments of compared frameworks in different conditions were given based on these results.

The ethnolinguistic aspects of the latest religious development in Mongolia
Jiráková, Edita ; Luvsandorj, Jugder (advisor) ; Zikmundová, Veronika (referee) ; Bělka, Luboš (referee)
Since the collapse of the communist regime in Mongolia in the beginning of 1990, the country opened itself to external world in many various aspects. In this respect, the Christian missionaries became one of the most visible signs of the process of democratization. However, linguistic problems associated with the newly introduced Christian terminology started to play a decisive role soon. During the 90's of the 20th century several Mongolian Versions of New Testament were published, from which the translation made by the Mongolian Bible Translation Committee and another one by J. Gibbens' team are of the greatest importance. These versions are far from having any connection to each other , thus completely dissimilar terminology is applied in both of them. It is my intention through this thesis, to deal with the problems of disunity of the key Biblical vocabulary in the present day Mongolian language. With respect to comprehensiveness, I describe briefly the resent state or level of the spread of Christian teaching in the country, where data collected within my field research undertaken in three phases between 1997 and 2002 are used. Considering a cultural and geographical connections, the problems of Christian terminology in China are also mentioned. 1t is then possible on this basis to make an overview and...

The practical part lies in own research, which primarily observes the frequency of anglicisms present in the youth language within the last 15 years. As the functional basis two numbers of the teenage magazine Bravo, 2/1993 and 39/2008, are chosen. Not only comes into question the quantitative point; the qualities of individual anglicisms are also examined.

Application of chromatographic methods for the separation of metabolites of cholesterol
Tetřevová, Lucie ; Nováková, Lucie (advisor) ; Šatínský, Dalibor (referee)
Author: Bc. Lucie Tetrevová Title: The application of chromatographic methods for separtion metabolites of cholesterol Language: czech The proposed diploma thesis deals with the development and validation of analytical method for free and esterified cholesterol separation from blood serum and adrenal tissue samples. This method is neccessary due to the different metabolism of free and esterified cholesterol in the body and it enables the research of these particular pathways using stable isotope tracers. The solid phase extraction method was chosen, optimised and validated with following results: precision values 2.14% for serum cholesterol ester, 6.98% for tissue cholesterol esters, 2.91% for serum free cholesterol, 7.48% for tissue free cholesterol, limit of detection 1 mol/l and linear range 1-25 mmol/l were found. The stability of the derivative was tested for 30 days at temperatures 4 C and -25 C. The derivative was found to be stable for the whole time period in both temperatures. Laboratory temperature was not tested due to a high volatility of the solvent used. The developed method was used in experimental studies evaluating the influence of dietary cholesterol and septic shock to cholesterol synthesis rate.
