Sexual dimorphism of the face and changes during senescence
Mydlová, Miriama ; Velemínská, Jana (advisor) ; Blažek, Vladimír (referee)
The human face shape is constantly changing during human life, even after one`s development stop (Hennessy a Moss, 2001; Williams a Slice, 2010). This work applies geometric morphometry method on study of sexual dimorphism of human face through ageing. Sexual dimorphism can be defined as a systematic difference in form between individuals of different sex of the same kind (Samal et al., 2007). Morphological changes, related to the process of ageing of human face, were analysed on data obtained from 3D surface models of human faces using methods of geometric morphometry (Dense Correspondence Analysis, Principal Component Analysis, Shell-to-Shell Deviation) and multivariatel statistics (Scree Plot, Hotelling`s Tš-test, permutational test, MANOVA). The work results indicates that the form (size with shape) and shape of men and women faces significantly change through ageing. Individuals aged between 20-40 years differ in form of the face, however the oldest men aged between 61-82 years differ from women only in shape of the face. The biggest differences in sexual dimorphism are in the middle age category (41-60 years), where there are significant differences not only in form, but also considering shape alone. Key words: ageing, form and shape, geometric morphometry, human face, sexual dimorphism 7

Matoušek, Jindřich ; Biederman, Hynek (advisor) ; Čech, Vladimír (referee) ; Novák, Rudolf (referee)
Title: Stability of plasma polymers under various conditions. Author: Jindřich Matoušek Department/Institute: Department of Macromolecular Physics/Charles University in Prague Supervisor of the doctoral thesis: prof. RNDr. Hynek Biederman, DrSc., Department of Macromolecular Physics Abstract: The depositions of plasma polymer thin films were carried out using plasma polymerization depostition. The working gas mixture consisted of argon and monomer vapours. The source monomers used were n-hexane and terthiophene. The depositions of nanocomposite thin films Sn/pp n-hexane by means of magnetron sputtering in a working gas mixture of argon and n-hexane were done. The resulting thin films were characterized by XPS, FTIR, AFM, SEM, TEM, optical microscope and elipsometry. The influence of deposition parameters on the resulting thin film propertires was studied. The ageing of the thin films in humidity and distilled water was studied. The current-voltage characteristics of selected thin films were measured. Keywords: plasma polymer, nanocomposite, ageing.

Quality of Life for Users in Nursing Home
ŠIMKOVSKÁ, Irena
Bachelor thesis is focused on the quality of life of users in the House for the elderly. Quality of life in old age is currently a very hot topic, since demographic researches point to the fact that humanity is ageing and the question of old age, care in old age, and improving the quality of life of older people need to be addressed more and more. It is essential to make the seniors themselves sought to use all options cultural and social activities, maintaining the greatest possible self-sufficiency, physical exercises, and more. The aim of the theoretical work is to present the theoretical information about the aging process, the needs of the elderly, social services and opportunities. The main aim of the practical part is to determine the quality of life of users in the House in Třeboň. a home for the elderly in Třeboň I chose because I am here alone carried out the practice, so I had opportunity to see how the operation of this device is. For this, the main objectives to be achieved, I chose another target, and find out how it differs subjectively perceived quality of life seniorek and the elderly before going to a home for the elderly. For the fulfillment of the objectives of the work I have chosen qualitative research. Data collection was conducted by method is semistructured interviews. The interview had sixteen diverse questions and was presented in the PCA in Třeboň ten seniors-5 women and 5 men aged 60-80 years. The research was conducted in December 2016. I processed the results into mind maps, tables and charts. Research has found that seniors are with life in a home for the elderly in Třeboň satisfied, and that there is a direct correlation between the quality of provided services and quality of life. Quality of life of senior citizens mostly they perceive as well as prior to joining home, but point out that they fundamentally changed their lifestyle. The use of the activating activities in the home for the elderly
JIRSOVÁ, Hana
This bachelor's thesis is about the usage of activation activities. Its main goal is to map activation activities offered in the Home for the Elderly "Máj" and how popular they are. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is further divided into four sections. The first one describes changes connected to getting old. Second section characterizes different kinds of activation activities. Third one describes how to correctly communicate with the elderly; it is important to know how to communicate with the elderly whose hearing or sight are impaired, or with those who suffer from dementia. The last section describes basic types of motivation that affects activity of the elderly. I have chosen qualitative strategy of the research. The research was in-field. Methods used for getting data were extrospective observation and half-structured dialog, method for processing the data was qualitative content analysis. The researched group of people were nine elderly women and three workers from the home for the elderly in the regional town. The research showed that the facility offers wide range of activation activities that may be performed each day - canistherapy, reminiscence, art therapy, psychotherapy, music therapy, ergotherapy - workshops, memory training, <coffee movies>, various cultural events, group games, reading and church services. The elderly are content with the available free time activities. It turns out that all of the approached elderly take part in at least one activity per week. One of the most visited and popular activities is ergotherapy - workshops, where larger groups of the elderly meet regularly. The interest in other activation activities is tied to the interests the elderly had before moving into the home for the elderly. Thanks to these activation activities they do not feel alone, they can meet with others and fulfill their needs. The results of this work can be used as feedback and information for specialists who create activation program in home for the elderly.

Current Problems of Generation 70+ Living in Small Village.
SAROVÁ, Klára
The goal of this thesis is to find out how elderly people live their lives in village, how are their intergenerational relationships with family, friends, but also in which way they spend their leisure time, how they take care of themselves and which social services they use. Theoretical part introduces readers to concepts like old age, aging, periodization of old age, the question of housing and intergenerational cohabitation. Empiric part focuses on seniors older than 70 years living in small village. They have been defined two research questions. How seniors of age 70+ live in small village in home environment? With which problems are seniors struggling in selected parts of life? These established questions helped me to achieve the goal. To achieve established research goal, the questioning method has been used within qualitative strategy. Semi-structured interview has been based on pre-prepared questions, which could be extended. Research group consisted of 4 seniors in the same ratio of women to men. For purpose of research they have to meet 2 criteria; age and residence in home environment in small village. Research group has been selected based on purposeful selection and took place in the village in the district of Plzeň-jih. From the research results emerged satisfaction of seniors with living in village. Seniors do not feel deprived by in material or spiritual area. They are aware of knowing that some things, which they feel sorry about or they perceive as a problem, they could influence to a large extent by their own activity. They realize, that there is always some way. From the research emerged a fact, that some social services could be more suited for seniors in the village, for example in transportation. Each one could turn to family for help, but half of them are independent and they organize many things even in their advanced age. This should be considered in their age as admirable. We could ascribe it to improvement of lifestyle and also to their better social position in the society, when seniors are no more set aside to the edge of society and excluded. Content of this bachelor thesis could be especially benefit for social workers, who pursue this area. It could interest even the general public including nurses, workers in social services, families caring for their parents etc. It could serve for those, who are interested in problematic of seniors and do not know the rural environment.
