Broadcast Policy in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia: Power Structures, Programming, Collaboration and Resistance at Czech Radio 1939 to 1945
Pinard, Peter Richard ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee) ; Kutsch, Arnulf (referee)
What radio policy did the Nazi authorities implement in the so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia? What were the possibilities of collaboration or, conversely, of Czech resistance within Czech Radio. What impact did the situation have on programming and on mutual relations between Czechs and Germans within this institution? Based largely on archival sources and an analysis of radio program schedules, this study seeks to answer those questions. The author pays special attention to political, anti-Semitic, Worker's Radio and political satire programming. The main findings of the study are that the occupation authorities implemented a range of policies starting with passive censorship of Czech-made programming and increasing over time to active production of German-inspired programs. Initially, an unqualified bureaucrat named Lothar Scurla led the occupation team supported by Sudeten-German Czech Radio staff. Czech staff reacted successfully to this manipulation with passive resistance. After taking charge in Prague, Reinhard Heydrich removed Scurla and more qualified German radio professionals took control under the leadership of the SS-Obersturmführer Ferdinand Thürmer. The new team gradually increased the quantity of factual programming while decreasing overtly political program content at...

Chile and the Czechoslovak-Chilean relation between 1920-1938
Zourek, Michal ; Nálevka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Opatrný, Josef (referee)
The penetration oj unknown Central European country into the South-American markets had - despite the uneasy beginnings - shown remarkable dynamics . In the twenties the Czechoslovak export had rather experimental character and as late as the year 1927 when the efforts oj its consolidation could be recognized. The external relations between South America and Czechoslovakia were the most intensive after the big economic depression, when in addition to the expanding net oj Embassies other institutions and authorities begun to rise to support the Czechoslovak export. Whereas the share oj Czechoslovakia on the world trade in thirties decreased and the restoration oj its positions by the World War Two was successJul only partially, the situation Jor Czechoslovakia in the South America was different. Thanks to the advertising campaign Czechoslovakia became weU-established brand name and thereJore the number oj contracts increased. As regards to Chile the economic relations were Jrom the South American context atypical. This was caused by the import oj strategie resources such as cop per ad chile saltpetre. The mining and sales were JuUy driven by the Joreign trade capabilities and world prices which proved several times during the twenties and the thirties to be rather Jatal. Chile was not just the...

Effect of alcohol on performance in sport climbing
Šafránek, Vojtěch ; Baláš, Jiří (advisor) ; Malý, Tomáš (referee)
Name of thesis: The effect of alcohol on performance in sport climbing Abstract: The goals: The aim of this thesis is to assess the influence of alcohol on performance in sport climbing. Methods: There were six climbers (4 men a 2 women) with average age 24,8±4,5 in this study. Before the test, the first group of climbers had to drink fruit juice mixed with 0,6 ml of 100% alcohol per 1 kg of their body weight, or the fruit juice itself. 60 minutes after ingestion of alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverage, balance abilities on the pressure board, absolute hand grip strenght and specific test of speed and power endurance were measured. This measure was repeated after 48 hours, when the alcoholic beverage was given to the other group of climbers. Results: After ingestion of alcohol, there were noticed decrease in power endurance of 14, 8% and decrease in specific climbing speed of 39,7%. The absolute hand grip strenght was the same in both cases. During the measure of balance abilities, there was noticed decrease of 6 % in trajectory of pressure point at one minute standing on one leg after ingestion of alcohol. Conclusion: The alcohol had a negative impact on performance in sport climbing. We noticed no effect on maximal strenght of finger flexors and only minimal effect on balance abilities. Keywords: Alcohol,...

Přečková, Alexandra ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Reifová, Irena (referee)
This diploma thesis named "Young people and its relationship with printed newspapers in the period of the new media" shows the way of treating the printed newspapers by the nowadays young generation within the Czech Republic. The thesis is based on the hypotheses predicting the tough situation and future position of printed newspapers. Concerning the experts' predictions the sole existence of the newspapers could be threatened by uninterested approach of young readers. The first part of the article shows the young people relationship to the printed newspapers as presented in selected international surveys and researches. The conclusions of these materials are essential sources used in my own further survey. As a part of the article the specific data presenting the situation of the Czech newspapers market are presented. It shows the printed newspapers decreasing demand which is significant as well as on the Czech Republic market. The methodology of the research is presented in the next part of the article. As a proper method the quantitative analysis is selected - the "focus-groups" method. The tested sample was forty of students in total. All of them were studying the secondary school or the university. Each part of the topic being analyzed is presented in the next part of the work. Also the...

On pharmacokinetic of single administration of albendazole in mouflon (Ovis musimon)
Vokřál, Ivan ; Lamka, Jiří (advisor) ; Ducháček, Lubomír (referee)
Name: Ivan Vokřál Title: On pharmacokinetic of single administration of albendazole in mouflon (Ovis musimon) Abstract: This diploma thesis contributes to the knowledge of albendazole pharmacokinetics in mouflon (Ovis gmelini musimon) treated by a single administration of albendazole in a dose of 30,0 mg/kg of body weight. Two separate experiments were realised. The first one was carried out on 12 mouflon ewes divided into 4 groups. Groups of the animals were gradually culled at the time intervals of 4, 6, 8 and 10 hours after the albendazole administration. The samples of the blood (serum), bile from gallbladder and terminal bile ducts were withdrawn. The concentration of albendazole (ABZ) and its major metabolites albendazolsulphoxide (ABZSO) and albendazolsulphone (ABZSO2) were determined in samples of biological materials by HPLC method. To determine the ratio of ABZSO enantiomers, the HPLC method with chiral column was used. The second experiment carried on 2 animals (time interval 6 hours) extended and partially confirmed previous results. The increase in blood concentrations of albendazole and its metabolites until the eighth hour after the administration is evident. In later time intervals decrease in concentrations was documented. The concentrations of ABZSO and ABZSO2 between the bile...

Potential sources of polyunsaturated fatty acids for saprophagous soil invertebrates
Elhottová, Dana ; Frouz, Jan ; Krištůfek, Václav ; Lukešová, Alena ; Nováková, Alena ; Tříska, Jan
Main sources of important nutritionally compounds - polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) essential in soils animal diet were compared. The highest concentration of PUFA was found in cyanobacteria (namely Antarctic strain Pseudophormidium sp.), followed by fresh litter, algae, fungi and decomposed litter. The PUFA occurrence in bacteria including actinomycetes was rare. Leaf litter is the most important source of PUFA for soil invertebrates in regards to both PUFA concentration and occurrence in soil. The stage of litter decomposition significantly affected the content of all 13 detected PUFA. The total PUFA content decreased significantly during litter decomposition. Enrichment in certain PUFA was observed in the latest stages of litter decomposition, indicating that the soil microflora improves the nutritional value of the decaying ĺitter.

Hoffmann, František ; Kaplan, Aleš (advisor) ; Hojka, Vladimír (referee)
A name of a diploma work: Modem means ofdevelopment ofmaximum speed A student: František Hoffmann A supervisor of a diploma work: PhDr. Aleš Kaplan, Ph.D. Goals of a diploma work: Observing of changes of chosen quantities depending on each other on supramaximal sprint (a frequency and a length of a step) in a comparison to zero-level sprint of maximum speed (a frequency and a length of a step). A Method of a work: Experimental reaching of over-maximum speed by means of The Speedy System and evaluating of reached facts by a tíme analysis in the service workplace CASRI, keeping balance of the experiment (inner validity) and final evaluating through: a middle value, authoritative divergence, setting of a regress equation ofmaximum and over-maximum sprint and a comparison ofrelation ofzero-levels and dependent quantities ofsingle sprints, an equilibration ofthe ABBA experiment. Results: In the experiment was noticed a change of zero level in the comparison to independent quantities about 7,5 % in increasing of maximum speed up to over-maximum speed of all sprints. As regards the comparison of zero level to dependent quantities there was noticed increasing or decreasing of the step frequency about 1,6 % in dependence on shortening or extension of a step length, witch proportion on supramaximal speed 6%....
