Separation Anxiety
Poživilová, Alena ; Fiala Šebková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Chmelíková, Eva (referee)
The purpose of the thesis was to develop a scientific review, as comprehensive as possible, of literature on separation anxiety in dogs. Separation anxiety is one of the most common behavioral disorders in domestic dogs. The thesis is of compilation nature. First, separation anxiety is described and explained as an independent concept in problematic behaviour of dogs. Further, the incidence and frequency of this behavioral disorder in the dog population are described, including risk factors that precede the onset of this behavioral disorder. Many risk factors exist, which are described in detail in the thesis. Both main and secondary symptoms are described; excretion, destructiveness, hypersalivation, and vocalization. The thesis also includes a chapter on the diagnosis of separation anxiety. This chapter describes how to proceed in an effort to remedy separation anxiety, and what the owner should arrange, what he/she should be attentive to and take care of. Prevention is discussed in the subsequent chapter. The final part of the review is focused on the therapy of separation anxiety. Possible therapies include behavioral desensitisation, modification of the behaviour, and reduction of dependence on the owner. For the therapy to be as efficient as possible, pharmacotherapy is recommended. The thesis describes treatment with clomipramine, potassium clorazepate in combination with fluoxetine, fluoxetine and diazepam. However, it is more advisable to prevent separation anxiety by the very choice of a suitable dog (characteristics of the individual, its temperament, and the breed), and by responsible education on part of the owner.

Hemophilia in dogs and use of a dog as a model for analogous disease in human
Marvanová, Veronika ; Hofmanová, Barbora (advisor) ; Dokoupilová, Adéla (referee)
This compilation deals about hemophilia in dogs and options, how to apply findings obtained from studies on dogs to cure people. Hemophilia is suitable for research of modern healing methods, because it has been known for centuries and thanks to this its thoroughly researched. As a hereditary, sex-linked coagulation disorder, which is normally cured by replacement therapy, is hemophilia ideal model for examining the genetics determinants and nowadays it significantly helps in development of modern methods of treatment. Hemophilia in dogs and humans is caused by gene mutation, which brings the absence or dysfunction of coagulation factor VIII or FIX. These factors in a healthy individual participates on coagulation cascade and on blood clot creation. Hemophilia mutations increase incidence of spontaneous hemorrhage, or hemorrhage after minor trauma, and patients suffer by hematomas, blood loss, dangerous internal bleeding, difficulties in movement and other related problems. The fact, that hemophiliac dogs naturally occurs, in addition with possibility to compare them with people despite the differences in karyotype, because of binding to sex chromosome, and finally in connection with people desire to treat these dogs, just confirms that hemophilia in dogs is suitable for studying. This explain why dog models were involved in all significant discoveries in hemophilia treatment. For example, dogs assisted in development of replacement therapy with plasma and plasma concentrates, where studies confirmed safety and efficacy of these substances. Within recent years dog models enables safety transfer of gene therapy to human patients. Thanks to these studies hemophilia possibly become the first genetically conditioned disorder, which would be permanently cured by gene therapy.
Evaluation of the effectiveness of available antiparasitics for selected animal species
Halda, Ondřej ; Lukešová, Daniela (advisor) ; Alica, Alica (referee)
This thesis was conducted as a literature review with research. On the basis of available resources, the theoretical part of the research was focused on describing the most frequently occurring endo and ectoparasites of dogs in the Czech Republic followed by partitioning antiparasitic veterinary drugs, based on their dosage forms, the active chemical bases and spectrum of activity. Objective of theoretical part was to get a a comprehensible list of registered products available in the Czech Republic, to facilitate the work of breeders and dog owners with the selection of antiparasitic veterinary drugs. Own research of the thesis focused on the evaluation of preferences for selecting antiparasitic products for dogs in the Czech Republic, dealt with collecting data through a questionnaire survey and followed by evaluation, result of which could be formulated actual requirements of veterinarians and breeders in the area of antiparasitic drugs. The data from two types of questionnaires that were distributed to fifty respondents from each group were compared. One type of questionnaire was designed for veterinary surgeons and sekond for dog breeders. The goal of this research was marketing research and evaluation of the results, followed by recommendations for manufacturers and distributors of veterinary medicinal products for which these data are useful to improve the sale and supply of drugs for the treatment. The resulting data show the main selection influencing preference anthelmintic veterinary surgeons was efficiency, price of veterinary drug and dosage form. Dog breeders make decisions on the basis of prices and the recommendations of the attending veterinarian. In the category of antiectoparasitic drug, veterinarians prefer efficacy and spot-on application form. Dog breeders follow the price of the product and efficacy.bio-security in the Czech Republic.
Kinesiotaping- part of the treatment of herniated intervertebral discs in the lumbar spine
FIALOVÁ, Anna
The title of this dissertation is Kinesiotaping part of medical treatment herniated discs in lumbal area. Slipped disc belong to degenerative disease and we can observe them as an after effect of injury, too. Rising incidence has something to do with lifestyle. More and more person are doing sedentary employment and thay have got lack of motion aktivity. That result in faulty postural habits, degenerative disease of backbone and weakening of musculature. Slipped discs give rise to nerves oppression, pain radiation, painful movement or skin sensitivity damage. In this case punctum diagnosing and treatment are crucial. There is possible to choose both surgical and conservative medical treatment. I have attended to conservative therapy. Theoretical part give undivided attention to lumbar spine anatomy, classification and treatment prolapsed disc in this area. Kinesiotaping as a technique is specify. In addition are mention some extra procedure we can use. My primary aim was to describe theoretical base of treament effect of kineziotaping. Secondary aim was to elaborate 3 4 case history using qualitative research. Field research took place by dialogue, then followed initial and final examination. The volunteer had to sing informed permission. This dissertation can be used both by lay and experts and improve general knowledge of kinesiotaping and slipped disc.
