Bereň, Michael ; Zamazal, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kraus, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on the live-broadcast sports events commentary which is a strictly specific journalistic profession and also one of the most challenging news disciplines of them all. It mainly concentrates on the professional commentators ("play-by-play") in the television environment. To define differences between performances of commentators in public and private television stations using linguistic and quantitative context analysis is the main goal of this thesis. The gender issues in the live-broadcast sports events commentary as a field - which are very rare in the Czech academic environment - are also being evaluated here. Transcripts of commentaries of previously chosen ice hockey matches are the main source for practical chapters of this publication. In both theoretical and practical parts of the thesis, author also considers his own interviews conducted with commentators and other professionals from selected field.

Kuželová, Markéta ; Chejnová, Pavla (advisor) ; Šmejkalová, Martina (referee)
The topic of the thesis is to monitor differences in communication between men and women. The theoretical part summarizes the information about communication in general and outlines the differences in communication between men and women. The empirical part is based on interview. We examine possible differences of verbal communication between men and women with university education. Following characteristics were examined: formality, expressions, vulgar, addressing, topics, and the role in communication and interruptions. Men do not interrupt the other speaker, women interrupt in more than 50% cases.. The results confirm previously published findings on this topic.

Jelínková, Blanka ; Andrlová Fidlerová, Alena (advisor) ; Adam, Robert (referee)
This thesis discusses selected linguistic aspects of two radio culinary broadcasts (Rozhlas u plotny, Pochoutky). The theoretical part deals with the tradition of spoken language research, its resources and the phenomena studied. The conclusion of this chapter is devoted to the approaches to spoken language focused on coherence and cohesion. For the purposes of analysis, transcripts of above mentioned radio culinary broadcasts were made. Specific transcription rules (based on different existing transcription rules) were created, to suit our type of analysis. In Rozhlas u plotny, the guest is a professional chef, in Pochoutky, the guest is an actor or a presenter. First part of the work briefly describes and compares language of these two types of speakers in the terms of phonetics, morphology, lexicology, syntax and stylistics. Subsequently, the main part of the thesis concentrates on textual syntax and describes cohesion and coherence of spoken dialogue. From this point of view, it focuses on comparison of two types of dialogues (and two types of speakers): predominantly continuous dialogue vs. predominantly interrupted dialogue (e.g. by overlapping talk). Thus, it gives examples representing various ways of retaining cohesion and coherence in continuous dialogue and in interrupted dialogue. Key...
