Political development in the Democratic republic of the Congo since 1960 until today, impacts on the inter-state relations in the region
Cahlíková, Tereza ; Volenec, Otakar (advisor) ; Kochan, Jan (referee)
In my diploma thesis I try for an objective evaluation and analysis of the history of the Democratic republic of the Congo since the year 1960, when the country gained its independence from Belgium, until the first years of the 21st century. The whole time period of 50 years of the existence of the country is divided into several intervals according to important events, which influenced the country's political development. Consequently one chapter of the thesis is devoted to each time period. In the conclusion of my thesis I try to evaluate the contemporary situation in the Democratic republic of the Congo and suggest solutions for the future.

The use of satellite navigation systems in rail transport

The aim of this thesis is to determine the feasibility and benefits of potential use of satellite navigation in rail transport. The theoretical part focuses on the operation of satellite navigation and a description of important systems. The practical part deals with the use in rail transport. Analysis of telematics and fleet management shows one direction of use. Furthermore, there is analyzing of the projects and their value added and usability in practice. Thesis provides a description of the situation and opinion on future use of satellite systems.

Work and family life interplay
Kubešová, Zuzana ; Pauknerová, Daniela (advisor) ; Králová, Tereza (referee)
The thesis is focused on work-life harmonisation in the view of state, employers and parents. It is divided from chronological and thematic aspect: past focused on analysis of historical needs for reconciliation of work and family life, present role of the state, employers and employees and future visions of today's university students, prospective parents. Three surveys were realized to support the theses. The first one applies to occupancy of kindergartens. The second one in form of interviews with representatives of prominent companies is aimed at flexible work and company kindergarten. The third research takes interest in university student's views of parental leave and role division inside the family. In the end of the thesis, improvement of conditions for work and family interplay are suggested.

Analysis og gene expression in prokaryotic and eukaryotic model organisms by proteomic gel-based separation tools
Petráčková, Denisa ; Weiser, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Nešvera, Jan (referee) ; Stulík, Jiří (referee)
This PhD thesis showed the applicability of a gel-based proteomic separation tool, 2-D electrophoresis in three independent projects. Supplemented with results obtained using different techniques the proteomic studies enabled a global imaging of proteoms in the studied biological systems. Comparing total proteoms of E. coli 61 protein changes were identified and connected with the development of the bacterial population in the presence of an antibiotic compound, erythromycin. This classic proteomic approach included sample extraction, optimization of its 2D separation followed by 2D gel analysis and protein identification by MS methods. A disadvantage of this work was an enourmously large amount of data to be analyzed by computer analysis. For the study of membrane proteom of B. subtilis during a pH induced stress, on the other hand, a modification of isolation techniques for membrane and membrane associated proteins was required first to improve the subsequent protein separation by 2-D electrophoresis. The optimalization of protein extraction included changes in detergents used for protein solubilization and a prolongation of time periods in the protein solubilization protocol. 5 relevant protein changes were then described that play a role in the bacterial response to pH stress. The proteins were...

German activist parties during Czechoslovak First Republic and their reflection in the Czechoslovak press
Dressler, Martin ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kunštát, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis addresses the policy of German activism, which took place in interwar Czechoslovakia, and its reflection by the Czech press at the time. The policy of activism was applied by Sudeten-German political parties, which aimed to reach their goals by collaboration with the Czechs. The newspapers were chosen considering their social importance and also their characteristic social-political views, typical for the era of the first Czechoslovak Republic. The thesis is focused on three turning points of the history of German activism, as well as of the history of Czechoslovakia. It is aimed to answer not only the question of how the reflection in individual newspapers varied, but its goal is also to bring closer the details of the cohabitation of Czech and Germans; though it ended bitterly, there were bright moments too.

Colloredo-Mansfeld Family in the 20th century
Karalová, Ivana ; Županič, Jan (advisor) ; Havlík, Radomír (referee)
The diploma thesis "Colloredo-Mansfeld in the 20th Century " describes the fate of the Austrian aristocracy, especially since the collapse of Austria-Hungary. It also recounts the evolution of the newly rising Czechoslovak Republic, and focuses on the problems that land reforms brought to the nobility. Other chapters depict the members of the family, namely Josef Colloredo-Mansfeld, the owner of the estate of the Colloredo-Mansfeld family, his brother Jeroným Hubert and his four sons Josef, Vicard, Jeroným and Bedřich. The Second World War indelibly affected the lives of these brothers, their property was confiscated by Germans and the family was gravely persecuted as well. After the war, they hoped in vain for the return of their possessions, which were, however, confiscated under the Benes Decrees. All their hopes faded with the Victorious February in 1948, when situation became unbearable for them, resulting in their emigration. Considerable changes were brought about by the fall of the communist regime in 1989. Restitution laws were issued and their estates were returned to them. Presently, there is still a long-lasting dispute over the Opocno castle , claimed by the heiress of Josef Colloredo-Mansfeld, Kristina from the Czech Republic.

Camparison of social contract of Thomas Hobbes and John Locke
Veselý, Tomáš ; Kučera, Rudolf (advisor) ; Franěk, Jakub (referee)
This thesis deals with the theory of social contract, specifically the concepts of the social contract of two great English philosophers of 17th century, Thomas Hobbes and John Locke. The theory of social contract is one of the most important paradigms of Western civilization, which explains the origin and functioning of the state. Thomas Hobbes and John Locke are among the first thinkers who come up with a coherent theory of social contract. The first goal is to introduce concept of the social contract of the authors. What are their assumptions? What is the situation of society before the conclusion of contract? How is the social contract concluded and how terminated? Which form of the state do they prefer and why? What is their's conception of state power? What are the rights and obligations of the citizens and sovereign in state? How were they influenced by the political situation they lived in. The second goal is a comparison of their theories. A lot of apects of their theories are similar. On the other hand many aspects are very different. The work is divided into three main sections supplemented by a brief introduction and conclusion. The first two parts deal with each one of philosophers. The third part contains the actual comparison. Thomas Hobbes and John Locke are undoubtedly ones of the most...

Pavlis, Daniel ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Suk, Pavel (referee)
My rigorous thesis describes the system of press regulation in Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia by means of two-level comparison. The first one is a comparison of official orders and directives with real content of legal Czech protectoral press (it means "Národní politika" for this research) during two important eras: after the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich and Adolf Hitler. The second one is a comparison of these two media agendas and their synthesis. I wanted to demonstrate the process of press regulation through concrete agendas that are similar in many points: both events are the same (assassinations); both men were the highest men in nazi hierarchy (Hitler was number one in the Third Reich, Heydrich was number three); media were supposed to make some reaction in the direct of recipients because of the propaganda power. But there were some differences as well: the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich causes his death and it was made by Czech emigrants; Adolf Hitler survived almost unhurt and the following revolt and plot (part of the operation Valkyrie) was planned by German high officers in Germany. One of the results of this rigorous thesis is the statement that it was important for Czech press institutions if the event is a part of protectoral life and environment or if it takes place elsewhere...
