The invisible hand of market: Adam Smith and G. W. F. Hegel
Krištofóry, Tomáš ; Pavlík, Ján (advisor) ; Lipka, David (referee)
Hayek's interpretation of Smith's invisible hand as a metaphor for the theory of spontaneous order still holds as the only authentic interpretation of that famous phrase, despite all criticism. Although not many authors noticed it, Hegel was a theorist of spontaneous order, namely also a theorist of the spontaneous order of market economy. There is evidence that Hegel followed here Adam Smith's teachings about the invisible hand. The invisible hand is present in Hegel's writings as an element, from what sprang his theory of spirit. That means that his theory of spirit is a general theory of spontaneous order, although written in metaphysical manner. However, being a theorist of spontaneous order didn't prevent him from being an interventionist. He was led to interventionism by his synoptic fallacy of mind. He never tried to apply this fallacy on the studies of the market economy. Marxists did that. Some of recent scholars (Sciabarra, Johnson, and Cristi) identified Hegel's theory of spontaneous order, but their interpretation wasn't perfectly in accordance with Hegel's texts. How these authors denied Popper's and Hayek's incorrect opinion that Hegel was a totalitarian, thus it is needed to enrich studies of mentioned current scholars. Here it is taken into account only what Hegel wrote, not later authors about him. This thesis is also an attempt to evaluate the history of economic thought from the standpoint of Smith's and Hegel's methodology.

Position of the head sister viewed by a medical sttaf member
LUKÁŠOVÁ, Věra
The position of the head sister viewed by a medical staff member My thesis examines the position of the head sister from the viewpoint of staff nurses both in state-run and private health care facilities. It gives insight into contacts between the head sister and staff nurses, especially if staff nurses are informed enough about the head sister´s duties. The results obtained in state-run and private health care facilites are compared. The following hypotheses were set: H I - staff nurses get into a personal contact with the head sister at least twice a year; H II {--} staff nurses are informed about the duties of the head sister ; H III {--} staff nurses working in hospitals, Inc., get into personal contacts with the head sister more often than staff nurses working in teaching hospitals. I set up thirty questions to address the issues of the position of the head sister in the hospital management and her duties. To obtain as much as possible information and to involve as many as possible respondents, the quantitative method of a questionnaire was used. The questionnaire consisted mainly of closed and semi-closed questions .One open question was also included to enable the respondents to express their own opinions. Respondents from the teaching hospital in Plzen and several other hospitals in the Plzen region ( the hospital Primaved, the Mulac hospital, the hospital in Stod, the hospital in Domazlice) took part in the investigation. The results of the investigation were processed in two phases: first the overall summary of all the replies was made and in the second phase the replies of the particular groups of respondents were evaluated separately. The investigation shows that staff nurses come into contact with the head sister and are familiar with her duties. The same conclusion was reached by comparing the replies obtained from staff nurses working in both kinds of hospitals, state-run and private. The results suggest that stuff nurses in both kinds of hospitals are thus well informed about the position of thehead sister. The objective of the investigation was achieved. The hypotheses I and II were confirmed, the hypohtesis III was not confirmed. The conclusions of the investigation will be presented at a workshop in the teaching hospital in Plzen with the approval of the head sister.. If the medical periodical is interested the conclusions will also be published there.

Plato's purple shadow, or, the two Headed swimmer in the underground river
Boháček, Kryštof ; Špinka, Štěpán (advisor) ; Fischerová, Sylva (referee) ; Kurzová, Helena (referee)
My dissertation is dedicated to Gorgias :from Leontini and his presence in Plato's dialogues; his influence on the development of Plato's thinking and significance for [not only] platonic philosophy. This piece consists of o ne preparatory part and the two main parts. The preparatory part firstly evaluates the ordinary input of Plato's views in Gorgias' rhetoric and subsequently gives a detailed analysis of Plato's opinion of the sophistes. It is con:fronted with the similar expression: sophistes; and Plato's partial acceptance of them. Then, of course, the dissertation identifies the typical terminology used and which corresponds very well to the teachings of such historical sophists as Protagoras. Practically, the term does not correspond with the teachings of the historical Gorgias, which does correspond to Gorgias' wish not to be counted amongst the sophists. The preparatory work concludes that there are marked differences in the image of Gorgias and the sophists from Plato's view. The fb'St part briefly recapitulates the results of my Master thesis, i.e., a reconstruction of Gorgias' philosophy ofnot-being. On the basis ofthis I shall now place a detailed interpretation of Gorgias' Helen, present a proposal for the complex reconstruction of the tragic teachings of logos, i.e. Gorgianic rhetorical...

My presentation is an attempt to probe current social view and reception of patients violence against medical professionals. The problem has a growing tendency and there is no wonder that JCN / lntemational Council of Nurses / dec\ared patient violence relative topics in 2001 as a worlwide current theme. I work at Emergency Department of big teaching hospital and I con, ider this place as one of those that are exposed to conflicts and patient violency often. The questioning was perforrned via nameless answer sheets. These were given mainly to staff from Emergency Departments, Ambulance Servises, Psychiatrie Departments and different sorts of admiting rooms. Two hundred answer sheets were given, about 84% were aswered and sent back. Major group of respondents / 41 % / were well experienced, more than 15 years working staff. Their opinion was valuable as they could compare the problem trend. The major part of them consider patient relative violency as a growing problem and attack severity too. Moreover the most ofthe respondents had the feeling that the level of medical professionals protection is poor and nothing had been done for years in this field. Jn the end of my presentation I offer some measures that sould be called into action in our hospital after the discussion with the management. Powered by TCPDF...

The research was conducted on the wards of the Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Department as well as in the other Intensive Care Units of the same teaching hospital. The theoretical section is divided into two chapters. The first deals with the definition of Quality and its perception from the viewpoint of both the patient and the healthcare professional. The second chapter covers Quality in Nursing and the related nursing care standards. The aim of the research was to assess the knowledge, experience and opinions of the nursing care standards among nursing staff. The results of this survey suggest that the overall level of knowledge among respondents is very good. But - on the wards of the Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Department, the current situation calls for a more detailed familiarity with the nursing care standards among its nursing staff.

Marriage as a Sacrament
Andrášová, Jana ; Tůmová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Martinek, Michael (referee)
The marriage encounters the deep crisis nowadays due to many opinions. This work discusses the possible influence of the Church on the situation. The stress on the sacramental nature of the marriage and the endorsement of the significant elements of the marital spirituality is held as a suitable way. The essence of the sacrament of marriage is clarified by the study of the biblical background and of the historical viewpoint. Contemporary theologians have introduced their teaching about the sacrament of marriage as well. They have been developing particularly the results of the last council. Four principles are found the core ones. Being together in Christ strengthens the unity of spouses. The marriage can hardly be indissoluble without the ability of forgiveness. The strong relationship between husbands and the Church is needed to form a healthy community. The source of strength to meet all the requirements is hidden in the common prayer of both partners. The duty of the Church is to help people to recognize the sacramental nature of the marriage and its spirituality. Realizing all this might be the best way of resurgence of matrimony.
