Engagement and Information Base of the Students of the Social and Charity Work Studies in the Volunteering and Donation Making in 2009-2012

Bachelor thesis is focussed on the engagement and information base in the volunteering and donation making of the students, who attend the subject Social and Charity Work Studies, the three-years combined form of the study at the Faculty of Theology, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The theoretical part defines the basic terms and describes the historical development of the volunteering in Czech Republic. Herafter deals with the typology of the volunteering, the value of the volunteering, the prosocial behaviour of the volunteers and the forms of donation making. The final theoretical part is aimed to the issue of the motivation. There are the basic patterns of the motivation for volunteering and donation making described. The quantitative survey is carried out in the practical part and is focussed on the question, whether the study of the subject Social and Charity Work Studies affects the increase of the activities of the students in volunteering and donation making and whether the information base for this issue got increased during the study.
Funding in particular conditions of selected nonprofit organizations

This work deals with non-profit organizations and their financing from the perspective of endowment funds. The introduction includes a brief description and distribution of the nonprofit sector in a general way and also the specific structure of nonprofit sector in the Czech republic. It is followed by a demonstration of methods of financing where the largest role play the incomes from public funds, donations from companies and individuals and ultimately the revenue from own activities. Within fundraising it explains the main components of this type of financing and the most frequently used methods of raising funds. In the practical part of the work the focus is on two endowment funds, namely on Zdraví dětem and Obnova Krušnohoří. After their short introduction and demonstration of their financial resources the work deals with the actual analysis of their financial statements with emphasis on the balance sheet, income statement and the annual report. The purpose and the mission of the endowment fund play an important role because they affect the direction which the fund will follow and the methods which will be used along its way.
The Requirements Analysis for IS Supporting the Nonprofit sector organizations

The nonprofit sector in Czech Republic grows slowly and in many key aspects significantly lags behind western countries. In fact, to find a feasible way to growth is actually far from being easy. Nonprofits, frequently encountering problems with self-presentation and communication with supporters, fail to establish transparency and credibility among public, which is connected to considerably low sum of financial donations supporting nonprofit causes and low public interest in volunteering as well. An aim of this thesis is to proceed with an analysis of a problem domain and to design a solution which lies in founding a platform organization, which would be able to offer IT supported services allowing the nonprofits to overcome aforementioned difficulties.
Analysis of corporate philanthropy as a strategic tool of corporate social responsibility in the Czech Republic and France

The subject of this thesis is to point out the growing importance of the corporate social responsibility and the sustainable business concept of firms in the Czech Republic and abroad, integrating corporate philanthropy into their long-term strategy. The basic terms and close connection of the corporate donation policy and social responsibility are explained. Corporate foundations present the strategic tool. First chapter is an introduction to philanthropy with the definition of basic terms. Second chapter deals in detail with importance of social responsibility in the Czech Republic and France, focusing on the role of corporate foundations, their activities and comparing the situation in both countries. Practical chapter analyzes the activities of selected corporate foundations in order to capture examples of good and bad practice. Subsequently, the observation is summarized and future developments are outlined. Last chapter provides practical advice and considerations for companies considering establishing their own foundation. Implementing and improving proposals of the efficiency and quality of their management are finally submitted.
Analysis of Gift-giving in Czech Society after 1989

The objective of this theses is to explore the development of gift-giving in Czech Republic after the velvet revolution in 1989. First part of the theses deals with the theoretical basis of altruism and philanthropy. The gift-giving explored in the theses is viewed as a specific case when the beneficient does not know the beneficiary. This specific case is then discussed with the theoretical aspect of altruism and philanthropy. Further on the civil society and its connection to the gift-giving is observed and the role of the foundations in czech society reflected. The analysis of the gift-giving is provided in the second part of the theses, based on the financial history of four czech foundations. A clear cut trend is not obvious, thus some other aspects coming out of the analysis are accented.
COMPARISON OF APPROACHES TOWARDS PHILANTHROPY IN CZECH REPUBLIC AND IN HONG KONG

This work concentrates on a specific area of cooperation between the profit and non-profit sectors -- the corporate philanthropy. That is a mechanism of corporate contribution to community causes. It is usually carried out in the form of financial, product or service donation. In this manner, the corporations in the role of a social investors participate on the satisfaction of needs, concerns and interests of community. The goal of this work is first to introduce the issue of corporate philanthropy on the theoretical level and next to describe the local philanthropic practices in two very different cultures -- in the Czech Republic and in Hong Kong. The data from researches carried out in these two countries were used for the analyses of the state of local philanthropy. The results of such analyses were then compared and the local characteristics as well as weak and strong points in the respective regions were identified. In what respects is the philanthropy in both countries similar and where does is it differ? Hong Kong is a country of long capitalistic tradition and is also a regional center for many multinational companies, which traditionally engage in these activities. Is this country with its culture of corporate philanthropy ahead of us and is there something we can learn from Hong Kong? Based on this comparison we can search for inspiration, possible risks and solutions. This work was elaborated using specialized bibliography focusing on the matter of corporate philanthropy. An invaluable source of information proved to be internet, mainly because philanthropy is a relatively new phenomenon in Czech Republic and there is not a large number of monographies concerning this topic. Lastly materials and works from various foundations, mainly the Czech Donors Forum, were utilized.
Fundraising neziskové organizace

Fundraising je činnost, která se zabývá získáváním finančních prostředků pro neziskové organizace. Teoretická část práce zmiňuje především obecné poznatky o metodách a nástrojích fundraisingu. Tím je míněno, čím se fundraising zabývá, jaké jsou jeho strategie, metody a způsoby používání a kdo ho provádí. V praktické části je fundraisingový proces na konkrétním příkladu občanského družení Proutek následně popsán a analyzován z hlediska dosavadních fundraisingových aktivit.
Projekt na rozšíření respitní péče v Komunitním centru Motýlek

Práce v teoretické části popisuje především sociální služby, dobrovolnictví a práci s dobrovolníky a nejčastěji se vyskytované handicapy v Komunitním centru Motýlek. V praktické části je pak popis Komunitního centra Motýlek a popis projektu na rozšíření respitní péče včetně harmonogramu projektu, rozpočtu, získávání finančních prostředků a vyhodnocení projektu.
Společenská odpovědnost firmy Deloitte

Diplomová práce se zabývá současnou úrovní společenské odpovědnosti firmy Deloitte v České republice. Teoretická část práce podává obraz o tom, co společenská odpovědnost firem vlastně je a jakých oblastí se dotýká. V praktické části je popsána stávající úroveň společensky odpovědného podnikání společnosti Deloitte. Největší prostor je zde věnován jednotlivým aktivitám firmy a hodnocení současné CSR strategie a také konkrétním návrhům na zlepšení. Závěrem celé práce je pak návrh na vytvoření nové strategie v oblasti CSR, která kombinuje stávající prvky s prvky novými a u stávajících projektů se snaží navrhnout jistá zlepšení a eliminovat tak problémy, se kterými se firma v současnosti stále potýká.
Marketing of Non-profit Organizations with a Focus on Humanistické Centrum Narovinu

Diplomová práce na téma "Marketing neziskové organizace se zaměřením na Humanistické centrum Narovinu" je rozdělena do dvou částí. První část popisuje neziskový sektor a jeho přístup k marketingu. V centru zájmu druhé části stojí občanské sdružení Humanistické centrum Narovinu a jeho marketingové aktivity. Na základě teoretických poznatků, analýzy konkurenčních organizací a na základě výzkumu veřejného mínění o neziskových organizacích jsou Humanistickému centru Narovinu navrhnuty taková zlepšení maketingových aktivit, které mohou zvýšit povědomí o tomto občanském sdružení, zvýšit zájem o dobrovolnou pomoc v organizaci a zvýšit počet adoptivních rodičů a ostatních dárců, což bylo cílem této práce.
